'Iron Man 2' Rockets to $133 Million
Iron Man 2 had a huge weekend, raking in $133.6 million and taking the top spot at the U.S. box office.
A Nightmare on Elm Street took the second spot, with $9.1 million, followed by How to Train Your Dragon, Date Night and The Back-Up Plan rounding out the top five.
Iron Man 2 also had a huge first day, joining The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 in opening weekend sales.
“To be in that group of some of the biggest openings of all time really is a testament to the movie (director) Jon Favreau has created and the character that Robert Downey Jr. has personified,” Paramount vice chair Rob Moore told Variety.
