David Beckham Boosts British Troop Morale

David Beckham autographs a few soccer balls, t-shirts and posters right before he leaves Afghanistan following a morale-boosting visit to British troops on Sunday (May 23).

During his trip, the 35-year-old soccer star wore body armor, carried a Kevlar helmet, and was escorted by Camp Bastion’s Regimental Sergeant Major.

“I have nothing but admiration for these young men and women, and it makes me very proud to be British,” David said in a statement released by BFBS. “I’ve wanted to visit Afghanistan for a long time, and I hope that in some small way it helps remind everyone at home what an amazing job they are doing out here in very difficult conditions. I feel very humble.”

He would fit in nicely with the troops if it weren’t for his extremely good football talents! :D
It really looks like he had a wonderful, humbling experience! I love how he got into the spirit with the fatigues and everything; so many celebrities [although I'm sure they're humbled in some way or another, who wouldn't be?] seem to go just to boost their ‘good’ image, but David looks as if he’s truly enthralled!
    Goaaaaaal for Becks!

Huge respect for going on his own, when do ever celebs do such a thing, if not paid? Becks took the time out to go and see the lads, and he sure was his usual class act with them, great photos!

I really don’t know what women see in this man. I admit he has a good body… minus the tattoos, but everything else about his is ‘no thank you’.
