I hate when these celebs go to the middle east and throw on a scarf like they’re even covering their hair. Offensive.

@Maja: That gesture is a little something most people would see as RESPECT. The region is conservative and she, like others, go there respecting cultural traditions. Try it some time.

And to be honest, she looks so beautiful in these pictures and with her scarf draped over her head. She doesn’t need every part of her hanging out to look gorgeous, and this is proof. She hasn’t looked this stunning in a while, if you ask me.

I think while she’s there, she could stand to visit Palestinian establishments.

to comment no 5 – you are an IDIOT!!!!
i’m tired of stupid people that have never been to Israel once and think they know everything….what do you know about the “occupation”???
    there is no occupation!!
I suggest you spend one week with arabs and see their mentality and that tell me who is the barbarian one!!!
the truth is more than you you see on CNN…..
belive me if the world would get more arabic we will all be dumed…Iseael is the only democratic country in the middle east
youcare about civil rights? I offer you to check out the situation in countries like Egypt that hangs homosexuals or Iran that denies women right what so ever and than talk abou Israel.

  31. 31
    Leila Says:

@Jasmine: I think you misread her comment.

She was actually saying these celebs throw on a scarf but it’s barely even covering their hair. As if saying “I’m too good for this country to cover my hair properly”. Anyway, Rihanna looks lovely here.

The dress is nice but the hair and makeup are awful.

  33. 33
    kara Says:

Vive Palestine?? Palestine and its Hamas are a bunch of terrorists killing people like every week.
Israel may be a democratic country but the more democratic in Middle East is Jordan according most NGO’s.

Finally nice to see pictures of Rihanna but I hate her hair.

  42. 42
    Lizzie Says:

@Jasmine: You mean, Israel is conservative. That is BS! lol.. it’s mainly scantily clad girls there. She’s wearing those clothes because she wants to gain respect. Not because the country is anywhere near ‘conservative’.

  43. 43
    Lizzie Says:

@LIR: Number 31, you are an idiot. We should believe what you’re blabbing about… because? You’re a user on a gossip site! Nice credibility!!!

  44. 44
    enoughalready Says:

She’s fake! Lights, Camera and Action and you nuts are falling for it..

  45. 45
    Jasmine Says:

@Lizzie: Lizzie, I was replying to Maja’s comment and she mentioned the middle east. There’s more to the middle east than just Israel, so I was making a general comment. But you’re right, there is more freedom in dress in that country.

@Leila: I reread Maja’s comment and I realize that could be another interpretation. Maybe that’s true but her, like other celebrities, are not used to covering up that much. To fully cover her hair and neck like women there do may be too much, but to at least drape something over her head is an attempt.

And wow, some of you just did NOT like my comment. Was it because my opinion was that Rihanna looks pretty, or was it because I mentioned Palestine? Hmm.

  46. 46
    Jasmine Says:

@LIR: You’re right. There is much more to the issue than what is on CNN. CNN does not show Israel attacking Red Cross buses who try to bring in medical supplies for children who were attacked with white phosphorous by the IDF.
For every situation you attempt to bring up of Palestinians being “barbaric”, I can show you 3 of the IDF and Israeli government’s barbaric, ruthless actions. However, I let myself be baited enough by you so I’m going to end there. If you would like, I can refer you to something other than FOX news for your enlightenment.

  47. 47
    LIZZIE Says:

And to add to what Jasmine said: CNN doesn’t show footage of ALL OF THE DAMN WAR CRIMES ISRAEL HAS COMMITTED!

  48. 48
    LIZZIE Says:

@Jasmine: There’s freedom in dress codes everywhere in the middle east EXCEPT for Saudi Arabia. You can where skinny tights, mini skirts and no underwear in Dubai, Kuwait, Lebanon (especially Lebanon), Syria (a lot of that going around), Bahrain (many prostitutes and alcohol there, it’s legal everywhere except for Saudi), Egypt (many mini skirts.. bikinis etc.), Kuwait (although no alcohol, there’s no dress code, lots of teens walking around in skimpy clothes), IRAQ, JORAN, YEMEN and basically EVERYWHERE in the Middle East except for the Illuminati’s beloved Saudi Arabia and Iran, i don’t think Iran should be considered part of the Middle East politically, geographically and historically. The Iranians hate the Middle Easterns, they are jealous of them and loathe them.

  49. 49
    you ass Says:

That is BS. Palestines are “barbarians”? that show what mentality you (Israelis) have against Palestines. I’ve herad Israelis describe Palestines that befor aswell, its sick. Not only that, I’ve seen fotage from documenterys where soldiers in front of the camera “abuse” in some way or another a palestinian civil for no reason, that also tells what mentality you have over there, it must be accepted in Israel to threat the palestinians like garbage, since you don’t even bother to at least act good in front of the cameras.
And then there are facts, for example, In 2008 Israel destroyed 80% of Palestines economi during that so called war, Israel didn’t let UN bring rice to Palestine because it was an “luxery”, you kill palestines for the most absurd reasons, you know that article from Sweden that Israel reacted on- oh no the truht came out!!-. The reason why they killed her son was because he had thrown rocks at soldiers. That is a terrorist according to your logic. Then what are you? You do more than throwing rocks. Its sooo ridiculous that you actually think of that as an legimit reason to kill a 15 year old boy, it couldn’t be that he was protesting? no it had to be that he was a terrorist. Also, Israel have taking palestines organs without premission. Israel have broken the “peace” with Hamas just as many times as hamas has, why do we only hear about it when hamas does it? Hmm. Why has Israel decide to build 1600 new buldings near a holy Islamic area, just when Palestines says that they want to talk about peace? Why do you lie about your “legimit” reason to be in Israel? According to your own religion jews are supposed to live spread around the whole world untill your messiah comes and HE will lead you to Israel and he will take over with no violence and the world will be against it. Isn’t that so? Non of that happened. “Ship to Gaza” contains of food, medicine and building “stuff” (whatever the word is) that is suppose to help Palestines, but Israels doesn’t allow it unless they drop the things in Israel, not in Gaza. Israel the country that put palestines under such horrible conditions to begin with wont even allow -other countrys- to bring some food. Can you be more unhumane? And you call them barbarian?
The facts makes it clear who the barbaric and terrorists ones are. And dont talk about civil rights when Israel discriminate palestines living there. And what Israel is doing to Palestines living in Gaza and the westbank. The only reason Palestine is in such bad condition is because of you, because of your terrorism for the last 50-60 years. If a country bombed Israel for 50-60 yearas after having occupied like 90% of the land first ofc, and then dumped them all in a smal area making them leave to libanon ect, Israel would look the same.

    noelle Says:

oh…Israel…one of the most beautiful countries in the world!!!!

  51. 51
    Jasmine Says:

@LIZZIE: There may be no written dress codes but I think in many areas you mentioned it’s a cultural expectation to dress on the moderate side. But then again, I haven’t visited all those regions, so if you have, you may have more knowledge than I in that area.
Historically and ethnically, no, Iran does not belong to the same group as “Arab” middle easterners do, but geographically, I believe so although I can see why some don’t consider this to be true. They share many of the same cultural traits as well. I know of some who make the distinction of being from Iran, but often consider themselves, or consider their homeland as part of the middle eastern region.
“The Iranians hate the Middle Easterns, they are jealous of them and loathe them.” Can you explain this to me? Who hates who and why?

riri fans discussing the middle east problem. hahahahahahahah

  53. 53
    ++Logan++ Says:

Stop criticizing her for covering her head.

Seeing that she is a celebrity she could have gone around being a diva in a mini dress and thigh high boots, but instead she chose a summer long maxi dress, flat sandals and covered her head, back and chest with a scarf.

I think it is nice that she took their cultural views into consideration and chose to dress a lot more modestly than she usually does.

  54. 54
    Jasmine Says:

@Kitt: Sorry, but I concern myself with more than just who Rihanna is f-cking and how bad her hair may be.

Try moving past the shallowness, sweetie.

  55. 55
    ta Says:

@Maja: maybe to you but Im an arab and I dont find it offensive at all. Especially since the majority of girls these days don’t wear a hijab. And the ones who do, have half their hair falling out anyway. And the celebs arent even muslims! So if they decide to cover up out of respect, I think that’s great! And it makes me respect them a little more =)

  56. 56
    kitt Says:

    @Maja: and the rest:
obviously none of you know that a lot of girls and women use wigs instead of an hijab to cover their hair/head??? Rihanna looks “perfect”. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Michelle Says:

Rihanna is dressed like that because she is visiting the Holy Sites, i.e. the Churches, Mosques and the Western Wall in Jerusalem. In every country people wear respectful clothing for such visits and I can remember not being able to enter a church in Italy because I was wearing shorts.

As an Israeli I deplore the anti-Moslem comments posted by some people claiming to be Israelis. We are a multi racial society with other 22% of our population being minorities (Arab Christians, Arab Moslems, Druze etc) all of whom enjoy full democratic rights. As for the Israeli-Palestian conflict, I pray for a peace settlement but this will depend on BOTH sides being interested. The Palestinians have been offered a very fair settlement of 97% return of their land on two occasions both of which they refused. Israel withdrew from Gaza five years ago and they are still shelling us instead of concentrating on building factories and making better lives for their people. We have extremists in Israel as well but the vast majority of our people seek peace, but a peace which will give us security and not constant wars.
