Angelina Jolie: World Refugee Day Reminder!

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie is imploring the public to not forget refugees by observing World Refugee Day 2010 this Sunday (June 20).

“Having a home, a place we belong, a place we feel safe, is something most of us take for granted,” she says in a new PSA, which you can watch below. “Please remember the millions of people around the world forced from their homes. Because the only hope of return is to not be forgotten.”

Watch below! Angie created the same type of video for last year’s World Refugee Day.

It is important to always remember and feel and act with compassion to refugees the whole year. Don’t forget that we all not as individuals but members of families countries have been refugees in our life. It is not hard for a country to became in war and people in need of refugee. Treat others as you’d like them to treat you!

Wouldn’t it have been hilarious if she had said, “PS, SALT comes out in a few weeks.”

Angelina is a special person. Any cause that has her attention and time is lucky.

  • Ameena

    Thanks Jared,
That’s why Angie is an inspiration to so many of us. I admire her work and dedication on behalf of the refugees.

On days like this, I am reminded of what it means to live in a country and enjoy the freedom that I so often take for granted. The idea of a refugee as a person who, for various possible reasons, can no longer live safely in a particular country is foreign to most of us. Thank you Angie for given a voice to the millions of refugees that can’t go home and the ones that are hoping to return home.

So proud to be your fan.

She’s “on about” showing compassion, caring and empathy for others who desperately need our help, something you will NEVER grasp or understand.

  • JJ

    Haters to the left!

She done more than you ever will in your entire life.

  • JillyRo

She has such gorgeous eyes, she’s a really stunning woman. And equally as beautiful on the inside.

  • Pey

Oh, if only every celeb did a little bit of this instead of bragging about their perfect bodies on mag covers, wouldn’t the world be a better place? Me thinks so! :-)

    Angelina <3

  • dark angel

Thank you Angie for making our world a better place.

  • Donovan

You guys have no sense of humor!!!

  • well

Most of us have already viewed Angelina’s Refugee’s Day message already because we were looking for it and re-watched Angelina and Dr. Jeffery Sachs, thanks jjb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUHf_kOUM74&feature=player_embedded

Thanks JJ for posting this, thanks Angelina for bring awareness and help around the world. Also to the other celebs who dare to get involved with caring for others and the environment. Making amends, refocusing and giving back….too bad Wall Street fat cat bankers don’t take their (unearned) bonuses and do the same. Don’t forget the U.S. especially the Gulf Coast region.

  • lurkersville

That’s great but the audio on that is really bad. Anyone else find that or is it my speaker?

  • Kim

Great week no stories on the tabloid covers

  • cool

Something the fans can get really into. Thanks for the thread JJ. You are probably the only one that will post this since you are all about things Angelina and Brad We appreciate it.

  • anustin

    @25 lurkersville!

must be ur speaker. perfect to me.

  • michelle

    it’s all about publicity!!!!

  • lurkersville

There’s a time and place for humour. Discussing the plight of refugees is NOT the time for it. Grow up.

  • Nice

    Nice.

  • dawne

So refreshing for someone to use their immense star power for the common ‘good’….unlike the other HW hotties whom are so busy being ‘tweaked’ in order to meet or maintain HW’s perception of beauty.

Angie just naturally contrasts the stereotype while appearing more beautiful, more sexy, more alluring, more actualized….so damn refreshing as an observer of the evolution of women in our society, high or low. On that note, I almost ralphed yesterday when I saw JJ’s main page of bare male abs………we must be going to hell in a hand basket as a culture……..I’m no prude and very liberal, but geezus, how much more superficial and carnal can we become??

  • we know the truth

    @michelle: I totally agree!!!! she’s sooooooooooo fake!

  • Okay?

For most people, if they see this, will be their first time seeing Angelina since her trip to Haiti. That’s a good thing cuz her message of compassion is consistent and real.

  • dianad1968

STOP ANSWERING YOURSELF. You’re NOT fooling anyone.

  • Kim

@michelle: Yeah you are right publicity to raise awareness of World Refugee Day great way to use your celebrity Angie.

  • wow

Angelina Jolie is such a HUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE influence on people, it’s staggering.

  • dani

Inspiring. After ten years of working with refugees and showing an unflagging devotion to their cause one would think the haters would back off, but no–they can’t stand that the one they hate could possibly be a good person!
    You go Angie.

  • teri

Love you Angelina for all you’ve done as well as others who take the time to learn and take action. She truly is a wonderful person.

  • teri

Going on a long ten years she’s cared and not put herself first. She’s changed for the better. Bless Angelina and her family. This isn’t a one time announcement or a one time donation. They both give generously throughout the year EVERY YEAR. Just because jen isn’t as giving or loving doesn’t mean her fans need to bash Brad and Angelina.

And that the one they admire comes up short (no pun intended) EVERYTIME.

  • yep

I love the work Angelina Jolie is doing for the UN. She has such appeal and magnetism.

Thanks for the video JJ, I think Angelina is awe-inspiring. What an honor it is for the UN to have her for their good will ambassador, and it is something Angelina Jolie cares so much about you can hear the passion in her voice when you watch the video.

Bravo to Angelina for taking time out of her busy life to bring awareness to the refugees all over the world.

Many blessings to the JP’s, their families, friends, and their many fans everywhere.

  • anustin

trollz in mind….”lets help out mejico”.

  • well

By G-d, if that is “using your celebrity for publicity”, I wish more of them would do it. Get the hell out of self-help books and babbling about it constantly, get out of the pity pots and get off their yoga mats…get their hands dirty, give back, make amends (and yes, they do need to–and they know who they are)–the world needs it and respect for all celebs would be so much better. Hats off to Angelina, Brad, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Oprah, Bono, McCartney, Gates…..http://www.customizedgirl.com/blog/?p=260

and princess Di,that one they admire hates them.

  • Wiola

    I love her !

Many thanks for posting video here JJ. Not all of us B&A fans go to JJB for pix &videos. Too many folks there like Beverly Hills post non-B&A related info like Natalie Holloway murder, pix of hats for spring, pix of drinks, etc… Its no longer a Brad and Angie picture thread but thread for lonely people. Hard to put folks like her since since others then quote. So thanks JJ for the pix and videos. As for comments, easier to ignore the bores, fools and haters here than on JJB with all the pix quoting.

Thank you Angie, for reminding us how lucky and fortunate we are. We should be humble and be charitable in our heart and in our everyday lives.

Trivias: 1. money spending on foods and clothing for an average American per year can feed 57 thousands people in 3rd world countries per year. ( imaging that).
    2. If everyone on Earth living like an average American, we would need 7 Earths to survive. ( imaging that if you can).
( I found these trivias while watching Discovery channel on TV).
