Jewel shows off her bikini bod on the cover of Shape magazine’s July 2010 issue, on newsstands Monday, June 21.
Here’s what the 36-year-old musician had to share:
On being labeled “the chubby Renee Zellweger” when she was just becoming famous: “My feelings were so hurt by that story, I ended up bingeing on an entire cake. Afterward, I actually tried to throw it all up, but thankfully I couldn’t do it. It made me think, ‘I can’t go down this road.’ I had seen so many performers develop eating disorders or try to control their weight with drugs, and I decided I would do no harm to my body.”
On female body image: “We should be more like men, God bless ‘em. They can take their shirts off and show their man boobs, and they don’t give a hoot. But women are so critical of themselves. We can be gorgeous and hot and still be embarrassed to wear a tank top. So if you can’t stop looking in the mirror, at least try to not think badly about yourself when you do.”

Jewel is a class act. Enjoyed her music for close to 15 years. She’s got talent, brains and beauty. No “*****” look for her to achieve sexiness.
And, oh my, is that a real bellybutton that hasn’t been tampered with via surgery?? Don’t see those much any more.

It’s so refreshing to hear from some one with such a healthy attitude. She’s right, of course. We need to stop being so critical of ourselves & just focus on being healthy

I remember when Jewel first came around in 1994 as this folksy pop singer. She was very attractive back then because of her crooked teeth and curvy figure. Now she looks like some half-starved stepford wife who spends her afternoons buying Starbucks just to throw it up in her H3′s glove box before the calories take hold.
Where is that bikini from!? I can’t figure it out!
