Sela Ward Joins 'CSI: NY' Cast; Replaces Melina Kanakaredes

Sela Ward is joining the cast of CSI: New York!

The 54-year-old actress replaces Melina Kanakaredes on the show. Sela will portray “an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C. whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim” (via EW).

“I am thrilled to be working with Gary [Sinise] and this terrific group of people,” Sela shared. “I’m a huge fan.”

You can catch Sela on CSI: NY beginning this fall! The show will air Fridays at 9/8c on CBS.

    I missed some episodes, especially the season finale. Can anyone fill me in on what happened to Stella? Does she leave Mac & the team, or was she killed off?

    Love Melina and also Sela. Couldn’t be a better replacement if Melina wanted to leave.

    @rossy40 no she didn’t die or leave anything like that in the finale so I don’t know if there going to finish out her story for her or if she just won’t be there when CSI comes back. I wish her and AJ Cook weren’t leaving their shows!

    @rossy40:

    The season finale involved Danny & his wfie and baby, not Stella. Melina decided she would not return before production started. I’ll miss her, but I like Sela. We’ll have to see what happens. As long as nothing happens to Danny — forget his wife’s name on show — and the baby, I’m good.

    BIG MISTAKE letting Melina go! She played the part to a tee! You could tell that she had total controll the part and done it VERY WELL. She had complete poise and domination of her character, Melina put 120% of herself in her role. Melina and Gary in combination with all the other cast members made a perfectly rounded crew which made the show complete. I’ve watched the new shows with Sela and have to say, just like when William left the original CSI, (nothing against Sela or Larry they are great actors), they just don’t make the show interesting enough to watch anymore. It’s almost like they’re reading their lines from a script, not from the heart. Sorry, but you’ve lost this viewer for CSI & CSI-NY. Hope you don’t change the cast of CSI-MIAMI cause you ‘ll loose me for that show too!
