Courteney Cox Covers 'Emmy' Issue #4

Courteney Cox shows off her baby blues on the cover of Emmy magazine’s Issue #4, on newsstands today!

Here’s what the 46-year-old Scream 4 actress had to share:

On being the only Friends cast member not to receive an Emmy nomination: “I tell you, my ego got really bruised. When everyone did but me, that doesn’t feel good at all. There were certain years I thought, ‘Maybe I have a shot,’ like the Monica-Chandler years. But I don’t know how it happens and why or how. Maybe I wasn’t ready.”

On not pursuing big-screen romcoms like BFF Jennifer Aniston: “I always talked myself out of going in to read. I don’t know if I had that much confidence. [Today] I’m much more content. I was always thinking that I needed to do something else, be more mysterious. I felt the need to prove myself. Now I’m not going to be the ingenue anymore. I’m probably not going to do a lot of the things that I wish I had done, but now I don’t care.”

On her initial attraction to hubby David Arquette: “He was pretty dangerous, like a bad boy. I was so young. We’re so different that each year I can’t believe how different we are. The one thing that’s similar is that we have a similar sense of humor. Well, no, that’s not true. We do not have a similar sense of humor, but his is so broad that I fit in part of it. He’s a unique human being, and a real character.”

Honestly, I have no idea why she was never nominated, either. She was easily one of the best actors on the show! A slap in the face.

Her character got too ridiculous as the show went on, but Monica was the glue that held them all together!

Courteney was very funny on Friends and her character actually grew and changed..Problem is Couteney did not marry a famous man and was not a no talented phony..

She and Lisa were very unique in the show. Sad that others who have proven to be just a ONE TRICK PONY have gotten all the attention when the other 5 members of that cast were way funnier. TAKE a certain HAG out of the show and it would have still been funny.. Take Joey out. or Chandler, or Phebe.. hmmm what would you have. NOT A SHOW FOR SURE..

Courteney should ask herself why a certain friend got more award recognition when it was not deserved.

I don’t like Cougar town, but I am glad that she (Courteney) at least is getting some much deserved attention. And it is funny how when a certain Ms. Aniston got nominated for an Emmy Courteney took out a full page ad to congratulate her.. but when Courteney finally got a nod for her new show.. hmmmm.. Don’t recall that Friend even taking a picture with her at the awards show.

OH no she was too busy posing for pictures with Butler trying to promote that Bomb of hers..

Yeah I know they are BFFs.. but it sure seems that Courteney gets the fuzzy end of that lollipop.

    TN Says:

Courteney definitely deserved to be nominated on Friends and its always bothered me. She should have been nominated over Matthew and Matt for sure, but there tends to be more competition in the female category. However, the Rachel baby story was a better story line for emmy consideration over the Monica/Chandler relationship so dont even start with comparing.

    Alaia Says:

Well clearly you’re biased. Joey’s unintelligence got annoying and very unfunny towards the end. The episode when he spoke French? Painful. I preferred Rachel and this is coming from someone who doesn’t care for Aniston.

Wow … jesus come the hell down…

how is it jen aniston’s fault that courtney cox’s never won an emmy…

and for a fact Jen aniston DESERVED her emmy award rightly … she didn’t win it for some “publicity” but she won it because of her STORYLINE – in 2002 the one when her character rachel was pregnant with Ross’s baby – that was one of the best storyline is got and she so deseevedly won it…

It’s not Jen’s fault that there were better actressess (no offence to courtney) in the same catergory when Courtney was nominated…

Jeeez … CALM THE HELL DOWN … it has been 5 – 6 years you LOON..

she gave really amazingly honest answers.
i am not so brave as her to allow myself to appear vulnerable as she has in her answers.
    that’s admirable.

pretty…. prettier then her best buddy

Loon? where the heck does that come from. As if anyone that does not like Aniston is a loon.. YOU CALM THE HELL down.. NEVER said it was her fault. I said that it was not fair that the least talented one of the group got all the attention and that is true. Little Ms. Freak.

and the fact that my opinion is different then yours does not make my assessment wrong. YOU have a lot of nerve. AS if you are correct because it is you. REALLY get a grip. The last time I checked this was a public forum and anyone can post a comment. My opinion has nothing to do with 5-6 years of anything. So STFU and don’t think for a minute you dictate the comments.

Aniston didn’t deserve anything IMO.. Lisa was the talented one and deserved her awards. Courteney got omitted because others were more popular. NOTHING MORE.

Every single one of the actors on that show deserved an Emmy. I thought Courteney was most deserving. She played Monica so well.

    andamentothat Says:

I love the interview.. I need to find out the name of the interviewer because he/she sure asks the good qns and waits for a good response.. Courtney is so honest that she always talked herself out of a role.. funny she said that because she actually would do well in movies.. her face is more suited for the big screen.

  17. 17
    sneller Says:

she is good in Pet Detective and Scream.
    she should do more movies.
    u can do it, Monica!

    kell-kell Says:

she’s a better actress that aniston, imo.

maybe she sees how horrid aniston is in all her romcoms that totally bomb and she doesnt want to be like her.

she’s alot smarter than aniston too.
hence she has had a long-term relationship and has a kid.

    anka Says:

Courtney is a genuin person and actress, true to her self. She should have more confidence, she’s really beautiful and she should stop botox if she wants real acting parts. She could express more with her face naturally, look at Julia Roberts or Meryl Streep

    Opal Says:

Wow, you people are crazy. Constantly hating on Jennifer Aniston, someone you don’t even know. How would you feel if complete strangers passed judgement on you based only on what they heard???

Cox and Aniston are both good actresses. They are wonderful comediennes which, believe it or not, takes as much, if not more, skill and talent than being an action or drama movie star or a femme fatale. In fact, as a true ensemble cast – highly rare in TV or big screen – each actor brought to the show a character that was entirely unique and irreplaceable. So Cox’s Monica was equal to Aniston’s Rachel because both were very believable and completely inhabited their roles to where the audience – ahem, some of you haters out there – still cannot distinguish fact from fiction and real life from life onscreen. Just because Rachel was spoiled in the beginning of her character arc, does not mean that Aniston is spoiled in real life. In fact, Aniston from the beginning of the show stated that she was the least like Rachel and that actually, she and Cox had auditioned for each other’s roles but the producers decided to switch them because David Gallagher, who played Ross, looked more like Courtney Cox and they could thus pass as brother and sister. FYI, ha ha.

I personally admire Cox’s honesty in her interview, and am amazed that she was never nominated for an Emmy for her brilliant work on Friends. However, I think her being snubbed has nothing to do with Aniston or any other of the Friends cast. They surely deserved more awards than they were given but that’s Hollywood for ya.

I’ve said a lot here but the most important part is that each of us PLEASE STOP JUDGING OTHERS! Famous or not, everyone deserves decency.

Monica was the best!!! :) Oscar, please!

    Marieme Says:

Just all kinds of wrong that CC was overlooked year after year. I don’t blame her for feeling hurt. I think people thought (wrongly) she was playing an extension of herself (as if Fug wasn’t) vs Lisa who clearly wasn’t like Phoebe. Also she never married Brad Pitt, so the hype and publicity was never in her favor. Clearly, the guys were given an easier break by voters.

    she seems really honest.
