OlderEmma Roberts & Lily Collins: Spider-Man Female Leads?
Lily Collins and Emma Roberts are reportedly in the running for the female lead in Marc Webb‘s new Spider-Man movie!
THR reports that the love interest character for Andrew Garfield‘s Spidey is not Mary Jane – the ladies may be playing Gwen Stacy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3) or a new character altogether!
Imogen Poots (who’s currently shooting a Fright Night remake), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy and 4.3.2.1) and Lily Collins (The Blind Side) are all said to be considered!
Also reportedly up for the role are Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four) and Emma Roberts (Scream 4).

I think this new spiderman cast are too young. Hollywood does this all the time. Using younger people to remake good movies thinking it’ll sell more but it’s usually horrible. They all look like teenagers. Unless the movie is set in high school it’s stupid.
Why not Emma Stone? She could be the perfect MJ!!!

This Spider-Man reboot is back in Peter Parker’s high school days, so them looking too young is a good thing.
@BEAN: …that’s because the “reboot” is being set in highschool. ahahahahahahaha.. they’re supposed to be highschool students. so if anything, the guy they cast as spider-man looks too old. looks like he graduated 10 years ago.

None of the actresses listed would be the best choice for the role. I was upset to learn that Mary-Elizabeth Winstead was no longer being considered. She would have been the best. Emma Roberts would have been an excellent choice…if the the actor who would play Spider-man was several years younger than Andrew Garfield. Had they gone with the a younger actor for the role, Emma would have been the best choice.
But frankly none of them would be good candidates. It’s okay to go with an unknown, but people should know them. I hope they consider more actresses as well. However, I hope we can find out soon. It shouldn’t take as long as the casting for the lead in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Well, if I had to choose between the five I would go with Emma. Teresa Palmer has done way too many action movies. The rest don’t look the part. Hopefully they will cast the right person. Emma is very talented and I think they can make the whole age difference work out.

I wish they could have considered other actresses as well like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Deborah Ann Woll, Emma Stone, Katie Cassidy, Leighton Meester, Amber Heard, Ashley Greene, Hayden Paniettiere, Mischa Barton, Emmy Rossum, Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Evan Rachel Wood, Alison Lohman, Olivia Thrilby, Kristen Bell, Amanda Crew, Briana Evigan, Sophia Bush, Aly Michalka, Michelle Trachtenberg, Anna Kendrick, Sophie Lowe, Sara Paxton, Hilary Duff.
Why aren’t any of the names listed being considered? I mean they are not casting good actresses for the love interests in all these superhero movies. Like Captain America, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The new X-Men reboot, and now this? Come on!

Emma Stone would be a very good choice. So would Deborah Ann Woll. Even if it isn’t for Mary-Jane. I don’t know why these and many other actresses are not being considered.
