Will Forte: Leaving 'Saturday Night Live'

Will Forte will not return to Saturday Night Live when the show returns this fall for its 36th season.

The 40-year-old comedian’s departure was confirmed to the New York Times by two people close to the show.

One source added that the split was amicable and that Will wanted to pursue outside projects.

Will joined SNL back in 2002 and created a series of memorable characters, including MacGruber, The Falconer and Tim Calhoun.

ugh, no, he’s actually funny. it’s up to samberg, sudeikis and hader to keep the cast afloat. they’re so dependent on kristen wiig and the digital shorts…too much so now. most of the women on the show aren’t funny/in addition to being extremely generic skinny women who all resort to the same high pitch voice when playing a character, but i have hopes for abby elliott. and for the love of god, hire a black guy and fire kenan thompson. steal don glover or keith powell away from their nbc shows. because i grew up watching kenan thompson on all that and he was never funny and never will be. half of his snl imitations are the same as that french guy in a bathtub from all that.

When was he EVER funny? His skits were the worst the show has EVER done!

I changed the channel when they came on..they were sooo bad.

They need to change the whole cast and writers as well. Maybe hire most of the comedians who did MADTV.

    Then SNL might have something!
