Andy Roddick Out at US Open

In a huge upset, Andy Roddick loses to Janko Tipsarevic during the second round of the men’s singles match of the 2010 U.S. Open held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York on Wedesday (September 1).

Just two days after his birthday, the 28-year-old U.S. tennis champ fell to his 26-year-old Serbian opponent in four sets, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

However, the game also had some controversy due to a call by the court lineswoman. During the match, Andy was called for a foot fault, an offense he rarely commits. The ninth seed tennis star ended up arguing with the chair umpire after the lineswoman claimed his right foot had crossed the line, when in reality it was his left.

“I just expect my umpire to know the left foot from the right foot. Then I let it marinate,” Andy told the LA Times. “In the moment, I was just stupefied.”

This is the first time Andy lost in the second round at the U.S. Open.

Can’t call any loss a “huge upset” these days, He’s been on the decline for a while. Probably rather look at his wife naked, which I can understand ;)

Bravo Janko!

i don’t think he still has anything left in him for a grandslam. he was good, but his biggest problem is his temper! He has no composure nor mental toughness to win any more grandslams!

He was horrible last night, just horrible. Unacceptable behaviour and wasn’t even given a warning. Was very pleased when Tipsy sent him flying. Jerk.

He needs to retire. He looks very old! I can’t believe he’s only 26! He looks like he’s 46. Hang em up Andy, hang em up. Go enjoy that hot wife of yours.

as a big fans of andy i must say this is very dissapointing news

He wasn’t that angry. He “acts” angry so he can make a drama, can drag the noisy crowd to distract Janko Tipsarevic. No class act by Roddick.
I used to be a fan of Andy, but he is completely ret*arded now.

i think roddick played great but tipsarevic just had an amazing day.i dont know why u critisize him when its normal to be excited when ur competing.i think he and his wife are amazing.love them !

he is sick of MONO! that’s why he has been losing, but he is a great tennis player, TEAM ANDY:)

Thumb up Thumb down 0

It’s been widely reported that he has mono, and the fatigue is getting to him. As an adult, it will take him a LONG time to recover. He shouldn’t have been playing, period, so it is no surprise he lost. Not sure why a sick tennis player losing is news???

boo hoo. cry me a river. he’s a douche.

any regrets brook? @ 09/02/2010 at 9:41 pm

He’s an abusive ****. Breakdown was not because of mono, he does this alot..But what do you expect from a guy who ordered his wife from a Sports Illustrated catalog through her agent when she was too young to know better…So desperate, she and her agent probably thought they hit the jackpot…..except now she has to **** this tool (who’s probably a jackhammer) while she keeps her gameface on
