Jon Hamm puts on his best brooding face for the October 2010 cover of Details Magazine. Here’s some choice quotes from the 39-year-old Mad Men hunk:
On becoming an “overnight success” late in life: “I don’t know how the Twilight kids or Miley Cyrus handle it. You make one bad decision and people in Thailand Twitter about it.”
On his new movie The Town: “It’s almost like an old Hollywood movie. It’s got a love story, it’s got a crime element, but it’s very much for adults. There’s not a lot of candy for the Twitter-obsessed. It just deals with adult s–t- no werewolves, no vampires. Yet … they’re retooling it for 3D.”
On reality shows: “L.A. represents opportunity. And, as has been proven over and over in the current media landscape, it doesn’t take much for them to put you on TV. If that’s all you want you can just be on The Bachelor or The Real Housewives or whatever show just wants oversized personalities, ridiculous behavior and zero dignity.”
On equating fame to porn stars: “When you try to learn how to act, you approach it with respect. But if you just want to be famous…that’s not much different than porn. ‘I’m a movie star!’ Well, no, no you’re not. You’re a porn star, and that’s completely different.”

Thnk god- a REAL actor on a mag cover. I’m so tired of seeing the Taylor’s and Zac’s of the world getting attention for pouting the best. AND I’m so sick of seeing people like Kellan Lutz and the Kardashians make a career out of calling the paparazzi. Jon Hamm is an actor who lets his work speak for itself- imagine tht.
I agree….now HERE is a man. Mags today play too much into the tween mentality. Those boys just aren’t there yet. they have no idea what it means to be a man. Their still trying to figure it out. Whereas, Hamm….awesome!!!!

How about equating acting (and doing it well with real talent) versus realty show stars who became famous for being willing to sell out their self-respect (and thier kid’s) for money and fame who THINK they can simply become an actresss (or actor) and be good at! Thanks Jon for saying what alot of us think and doing it with experience and intelligence!

I’m a big fan of Mr. Hamm. Jon is not only a gifted dramatic actor, but he is a brilliant comedic actor. He always comedically kills whether hosting Saturday Night Live ( twice) , guest-starring on 30 Rock, or his Primetime Emmy Awards opening participation with Jimmy Fallon.
I agree George Clooney has nothing on Jon Hamm- acting , looks, screen presence, or charisma. Sometimes George is full of himself. Hamm seems always down- to -earth. I truly hope ” The Town” boosts Hamm’s film career- he is too gifted.
