Ryan Gosling Fakes His Accent, Michelle Williams is a Slave to Her Computer

Want some insight on Michelle Williams and her co-star Blue Valentine co-star Ryan Gosling? Here’s a snippet of their interviews via W Magazine:

Michelle, do you spend a lot of time online? I actively stay away from reading about myself. But I am a slave to my computer. I don’t think that’s good—would Tolstoy even have written Anna Karenina if there were an Internet? I hate myself when I e-mail. E-mail is like a dopamine hit—you wait for it and then you get it. I gave up my computer during my last movie, Meek’s Cutoff, which is a period piece about a woman on the Oregon Trail. I took to letter writing. My girlfriends got some great letters. But when it ended I was back on e-mail. I’m an addict.

Ryan, you’re from Canada, but you seem distinctly American. You don’t have a Canadian accent. As a kid I decided that a Canadian accent doesn’t sound tough. I thought guys should sound like Marlon Brando. So now I have a phony accent that I can’t shake, so it’s not phony anymore. I’m going for the Madonna thing, the Lady Gaga thing—a phony accent that becomes your trademark.

    I prefer Michelle’s new nose. Ryan’s skinny little one makes him look girly, like Zac Efron’s nose job.

    Mmm..Canadian accent do sound American, unless when they say some words..its the North American Accent. BTW, Madonna is half Canadian. Her mom is from Ontario.

    @LadyB:
    Canadians sound almost like people from the US – and as with the US the accent varies based on where you are from. People from BC probably sound more traditionally “American” than those from Ontario who have an accent similar to but stronger tha the midwest, ie: Chicago, WI, or MN. (flashback to Bob and Doug McKenzie anyone :-)
    erg Quebec! I’ve worked in industries where I had to contact companies in Quebec. You’re scre*ed if you don’t speak French.
    ..and to all Canadians(even you Quebec people)…please don’t take anything I said as negative. I spent many a summer on the MN / Ontario boundary waters and love Canada. my comments are just personal observations.

    Well Lala, thanks for agreeing with me. I just thought the interview question was wierd, and his answer was also wierd. I mean what kind of question is “you don’t sound Canadian”, like the accent is totally different. Anyway, I love Canada too.

    Halli Says:

    Ryan has to be joking because he (as most Canadians) don’t have a distinctly “Canadian” accent. But we do say some word differently.

    This photo is good. I don’t think I like the one on the cover of the mag. Michelle is beautiful, but I thought the hair extentions looked silly.
