Ryan Gosling: 'Farragut North' Frontrunner!

Ryan Gosling is close to signing as the lead in the George Clooney-directed adaption of the Beau Willimon play Farragut North.

The 29-year-old Canadian actor would play Stephen, a young press secretary working for a fast-rising candidate.

Deadline reports that Leonardo DiCaprio once eyed the role. Last year, Chris Pine played the same role in the play version at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. He too was rumored to take on the role but it looks like Ryan is in the lead now!

Ryan is getting lots of Oscar buzz for his role in the upcoming flick, Blue Valentine. He’s been busy with Christina Hendricks shooting their new movie, Drive.
