Prospera’s journey spirals through vengeance to forgiveness as she reigns over a magical island, cares for her young daughter, Miranda, and unleashes her powers against shipwrecked enemies in this exciting, masterly mix of romance, tragicomedy and the supernatural.

Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, Alan Cumming, and Reeve Carney also star in the pic, out December 10th.

She is a great actress for sure

I agree with [infamouslycool] it seems that they’re going to butcher Shakespeare’s work, i.e. “prospera” is suppose to be Prospero. The only character that can be considered either a man or a woman is the apparition Ariel.

  • Pattycake

Oh for crap’s sake, Prospera/Prospero. That is not significant. You know in Shakespeare’s time all actors were men, some in drag. This is payback, baby.

  • Steve Jobs

We should just be proud that this director has tried to do this Shakespeare novel and to think that Helen Mirren is the actress, I’m sure this will be great because of her. I can’t wait to watch the movie. Let’s just see what will be the result.

Oh, I hope this one turns out good. I love “The Tempest” and I think Helen will be great in the lead. I’m not so sure about Russell Brand though, but maybe he can surprise.

I’m curious about Felicity Jones as Miranda as well.

I also don’t think that changing Prospero’s gender will ruin the movie. It will all depend on the acting and Helen Mirren is definitely the kind of actress to pull this one off. :)

Mz. Mirren is so Gorg! She always looks so youthful. ;)

  • Iffy Miffy

I loathe, loathe Russell Brand but Helen Mirren is such an amazing actress that I’ll sit through his idiotic face to see her in this. Can’t wait. That last scene here … shivers…

The Bard would hearily approve (and damn the blue-noses who prevented him from doing the same.

  • Nicolette Zar

Russell Brand is the epitome of great comedic acting and he will excel. He will MAKE this movie.
