'Cougar Town' Mocks Its Own Title During Show

Cougar Town has begun to hilariously mock its own title during the opening title sequence after first trying to change the title for the new season.

After the first season stopped focusing on just Courteney Cox‘s character and started to become an ensemble show, show creator Bill Lawrence said that he hoped to change the title.

Now that the title has not changed, the writers have decided to mock it instead. During two of the first three episodes of the new season, the title was shown as “Still Cougar Town” and “Badly Titled Cougar Town.”

Glad to see they have a sense of humor over there at ABC!

The show is very good. That’s the problem with it. People don’t want to watch good shows. They want to watch idiots like those lame Teen Moms and those idiots girls from The Hills. The show is too sophisticated for the average person!

Bill Lawrence set the standard with Scrubs, so I’m afraid to watch it believing I’m going to be disappointed. Is it any good?

This is a GREAT show, I see nothing wrong with the name Cougar Town, now even though the show has gone in a different direction, re-naming it, would just make it confusing,

Bill’s wife is in it – she plays the angry best friend – she’s like Jordan from Scrubs. Busy Phillips steals the show!!

I still hate how they’ve essentially turned it into Friends 2.0. This is basically let’s go hang over Monica’s house again. So very lazy and unoriginal. Nevertheless, it is damn funny sometimes! I can’t stand Grayson or the dumb ex (Fug’s new man for hire), but everyone else makes me roll. Good writing and strong cast especially, Ian Gomez. The show could be just about him and I’d love it!

This show is hilarious! I absolutely love it.

People who have only watched the first three or four episodes of the first season need to give it another chance. It is so different, and SO great!!!

    They should call it, “Monica!”
How about that? With the exclamation point? Whaddaya think?
    “Monica?” Sounds strange. But meaningful.
