Gwyneth Paltrow Talks Casting Couch Experience

Gwyneth Paltrow opens up about her casting couch experience to the November 2010 issue of Elle (with Kate Hudson on the cover).

Here’s what the the 38-year-old actress shared with the mag about trading sexual favors for career advancement:

Have you ever had a casting-couch experience? Yup. When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom. I left. I was pretty shocked. I could see how someone who didn’t know better might worry, “My career will be ruined if I don’t give this guy a blow job!”

How do you feel about the kinds of roles available to women today? Kind of dejected. There’s a lot that’s okay, but there’s little that’s really good, especially for someone my age. Sometimes you find out that something you really liked is going to someone 10 years younger. I find it heartening that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been able to find and create amazing projects.

the only difference between her having a casting couch experience and any other girl is that she had influential father, Steven Spielberg as godfather and some other connections I couldn’t bother to remember

@tey: Agree, she’s not a bad actress but she can’t headline a film. Not many can unfortunately.

    Free People Says:

There is a lot of competition and despite that Oscar from a long time ago she doesn’t seem to be on a first look list for scripts. So, she doesn’t get as many quality roles. She should thank Jon Favreau for reviving her career with Iron Man. She was pretty much off the radar before then.

I cannot look at her without thinking the words ‘a whacked out goopster’. She’s barely connected to reality. She lives in the narrow recesses of her own tiny mind.

    Movie Watcher Says:

Paltrow does not put butts in seats so she still has to take ingenue roles. Her peer group is pretty competitive too. Lots of talented actresses who outshine her. Winning the Oscar so young didn’t do her much good.

She has nice thick hair but the bob cut suits her better. Longer hair imbalances her face and makes her look like The Lion King.
