George Clooney: Meeting with Obama at The White House!

George Clooney addresses reporters at the White House on Tuesday (October 12) in Washington, D.C.

The 49-year-old actor and human rights activist John Prendergast filled President Barack Obama in on their recent trip to Sudan.

George is asking for support in preventing violence in Sudan – a referendum election to be held in January could split the largest nation in Africa in two and cause a civil war in the country.

The AP notes that the two were impressed with President Obama‘s knowledge of Sudanese conflict and his intentions to prevent violence.

John P next to george does all the work. george takes credit. There is no way George knows everything about Darfur in order to talk to the president.

# 5

A+ George for trying to do some good and help those who need help.

# 6

Thank you George for caring. Prendegast doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight with George, then why the issue? Actually, the spotlight is on George, and he doesn’t mind sharing it. I hope Obama can do something about the situation in the Sudan. It doesn’t look easy though.

This isn’t about preventing genocide or saving lives. It’s about the oil in southern Sudan. If south Sudan forms its own country and the U.S. helps it to do so, that will only help the U.S. have access to those oil reserves.

# 9

sheesh! enuf! We need to stop wasting money out of the country. Our country is going down the drain with the bad economy, no jobs, health care in ruins…, states going broke, education dollars are gone….on and on……we need to pay attention at HOME first and clean up our economy before our U.S of America is gone.

Well, Pointer, diplomacy is cheap, and that’s what Clooney is doing. And although I think the reason for all of this is really about the oil rather than preventing more genocide, that reason would be good for the U.S. It would potentially provide us with a cheaper, friendlier source of oil than the Arab countries.

to anonymous @ 10/12/2010 at 11:02 pm

pay attention, ok. those oil reserves belong to the people of south sudan. they can allow anyone they choose access; even the united states if they want to.

That’s my point. We help them win their independence, and they will be friendly to us when they have their own country.

to anonymous @ 10/12/2010 at 11:31 pm

i agree with you on that. but i also believe that we should help the people of south sudan without a guarantee that they will let us have their oil. if they do give us oil i want it to be absolutely by their choice.

I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m just presenting Clooney’s true motive for this cause.

Clooney doesn’t give a sh&t about the oil. He cares about the people.

Clooney, please, do not try to be Brad Pitt. You are not and you will never be. Go away, please.

Jokergurl @ 10/13/2010 at 2:09 am

He’s wasting his time because Washington is not listening to anyone right now, you can fix Sudan by getting rid of all the warlords but that’s literally impossible since human rights idea does not apply to Sudan the warlords do not care about the people.

At least George is trying. This is a very complicated and difficult issue but if no one even tries to help then the people of Sudan are doomed. I don’t know how much difference George can realistically make here, but I give him great credit for trying to help and trying to get others to help, as well.

after all these years, he still looks so sharp, always in a suit with starched shirt, looks pepping

where’s his inseparable ugly trans cockewo.hre?
we are missing Elizabrutos to make us a laughs!

i really can not understand what do you critics have against this man?
its beyond my comprehension. it looks like whatever he does is bad thing….for god sakes hes doing some humanitarian work and you’re still insulting him. i beginning to think that this is well organised “negative PR”.

Clooney must not be aware, but the economy is in full breakdown mode, people are sleeping in cars/streets here in the US, and there are terrorists who are targeting our country and getting bolder. Add the eventual collapse of welfare and reality of a volatile political situation here in the US, we are wasting time on paying attention to Africa, which is ALWAYS in the middle or about to break out into more warfare and genocide. We don’t have the money and I frankly am BEYOND caring about the latest crisis that Africa is having right now. Africa is ALWAYS having a crisis, tragedy, or developing a new genocide.

Right now, I want to have MY problems solved right now and worry about MY country’s problems. Neither myself or fellow Americans have the energy to worry about Africa, which is ALWAYS falling to pieces, one way or another.

*flame suit on*

Anonymous @ 10/13/2010 at 2:11 pm

Yes, Cupkin, Africa is always falling to pieces. The difference with Sudan is that it’s one of the most oil region places on earth. That’s why we need to be involved, for the oil.

This newspaper @ 10/13/2010 at 4:47 pm

George is not interested in oil. It’s for sure! Moreover George calls not to spend American money and solve the issue through diplomacy.

Anonymous @ 10/13/2010 at 5:32 pm

The only reason he advocates for south Sudan is in the attempt to protect the U.S.’s interest in its oil. Anyone who doesn’t realize this is incredibly naive.

Shouldnt’ Obama be meeting with economists about the economy, diplomats about the Sudan?

This newspaper @ 10/13/2010 at 6:47 pm

@Cupkin: Yes, George only attracts attention to this problem, but to resolve it will of course the diplomats.

I care if we start a war for oil, but i don’t care if we stop a war for oil.

This newspaper @ 10/14/2010 at 3:12 am

Yes, indeed, US can get cheaper oil in Sudan. This will be as bonus for the resolving this conflict, which in this case can be handled by diplomacy, it is inexpensive. And this bonus is very attractive thing in the period of elections. And these, from the first sight, material targets can help to save people’s lives, which are doomed without external help. Refugee camps can transform into Concentration camps. George big plus to you, you choose the right time, but don’t go there anymore! Because it is very impudent to land in North Sudan, the territory that is controlled by Janjaweed, to help those whom they decided to annihilate. Janjaweed literally means a gin, and they are mad… You George, riding there on the horse, can turn out from “Sexiest Man Alive” to “Sexiest Man Dead”.

Big Foot, I thought you were about running in the Canadian forests, or at least climbed up the Eiffel Tower! These are two places, from which you can see better what happens in Sudan. Though I understand that it is not that easy for naked Big Foot to climb up the Eifel Tower, but I do not recommend you to hang out there, there everywhere is wind.

@karla: It is extremely impolite statement!! People risks their lives and help others to survive. George you look great, keep doing your best!

Lodie Dixon @ 10/15/2010 at 4:37 am

George is my hero – not for his good looks and superb acting ability – but just for what he did tonight. He uses his celebrity for something more than self-gratification. He is on my bucket list of people I admire and would like to meet. David Gergen is another of my heroes, having worked in both Republican and Democratic administrations to achieve some good. He would like to serve the American people, not just a party. This world needs more peole like these wonder ful men.
Congratulations to George for what he is doing.

Lorraine Simmons @ 10/15/2010 at 4:39 am

God Bless you George! I just can’t get over how much you’ve done for humanitarian causes. You are truly inspirational. I heard you even went to Egypt and China for Sudan. Don’t you ever get tired? It’s amazing!

Kudos George!

anonymous @ 10/15/2010 at 7:32 am

Smart is sexy. What a man!

I saw George discussing the Sudanese crisis on “Larry King” last night. It was an excellent interview. He kept his argument simple, logical, and practical. I think he’s an outstanding advocate for this issue.

Thank you George and John! I hope that you are able to get the support that you need from our government. Good luck with this and God Bless!

There is no way George knows everything about Darfur in order to talk to the president.

Anonymous @ 10/16/2010 at 9:07 am

@backpain:And George doesn’t speak about such things, and not give any advices. He just states the facts he saw. And any conclusions and decisions will be done by experts. George only attracted attention to this problem, that’s all.

KARLA,
Get lost you and your ****** friend, Angelina. SOOOONNN her breasts will droopand her lips will shrivel and that Brad is so whipped!!!!!

KARLA,

YOU AND YOUR ****** FRIEND ANGELINA WILL SOON HAVE DROOPY BREASTS AND SHRIVELED LIPS.

TAKE IT AND SHOVE IT…..

He wants to use diplomacy to prevent more genocide in Sudan. Diplomacy does not cost anything and is a wise investment. It could not only save the lives of people in south Sudan, but it could well end up preventing international military intervention and/or other types of aid that would cost lives and money. Regardless of what you think of Clooney as a person, his message about Sudan is valid.

@george: Ahahaha George is Amazing man!

anonimusis @ 10/21/2010 at 1:54 am

George can not change the world and I can not take seriously, I think it’s all part of the PR. You should first find a normal woman and not Elisabeta that constantly exposes his flesh. Shame

@anonimusis: He already found a normal one… he just wants to hang out with not normal for some more

Superficial @ 10/26/2010 at 5:50 pm

Yes maybe at first sight George looks superficial but this is only a form of external protection, a shell that was formed as a result of vital necessity. When man gets a complete disappointment, when a close person trying to humiliate him mentally and financially, it is quite normal that in future such man may withdraw from the deep relationships, he may not want to have any relationship at all going through such psychic trauma, or may even become a gay but it is not genetically caused, it’s the psychological block that can be liquidated. Therefore, such men, even if there is something wrong with them, are the victims of these women-manipulators. This is pure genocide. George thought that it is pretty enough to be sincere and he would be able to develop such relationship as his parents have, but fate does not always offer an equal partner and first marriage has helped him to understand many things… Then in the future to the real ones man prefers kind of controlled-contract-relationships having a fear of repeating past experience, but at some moment he realizes that paidwoman and paidwife it is something alike, they are almost nothing different, they both product of material area interests. In order for something to happen needed someone from another area of interest and only then it all becomes secure. In fact, George is a truly deep person and he does not have much fun from this kind of life… and sometimes he has very sad eyes…

All that you’ve stated above dear Superficial (Ha! nice name :) is not something that a ‘Celebrated person’ like George alone has to experience or live through… today, it has become a ‘common factor’ of discouragement, where building relationships are concerned, across continents, cultures and creeds… What you’ve stated about “Gay-ism” if I can call it that, is also very relevant… I call that the making of the “Man-made-Gays”… where Gay-ism, results or is basically accepted as a ‘way out’ of a situation where some of the “truth” cannot be “trusted” / “digested” / “accepted” anymore… :)

Just want to add, that for anyone WISHING / WANTING, for a partner / relationship, it is MOST meaningful and refreshing, defining and rejuvenating, for the person to INCLUDE, the 3rd person, who is factually the MOST SUPREME, yes, THE CREATOR of that relationship, for help and assistance, for wisdom and supportive aid, to take things forward… WITH GOD, IN every step of the way, any relationship, that HE has made, will have to have that ‘forever’ and ‘complete’ nature of HIMSELF in it!

So no, don’t lose hope, for either yourself, or for George, or for anyone who is looking for love :) Surrender your tears, core wishes and wants, your faults and failures… just about anything to HIM… WITH GOD, a new life of LOVE IS POSSIBLE! YES! :) Trust HIM, and believe that HE CAN DO that for you… Ask HIM to help you to take that path HE wants you to take, and go along faithfully in HIS ways… You will see that HE shall lead you through your gifted relationship’s formation and fulfillment… :)

George has his parents for example I guess… and anyone who has even lived a year of fruitful family life, will be able to say, that their success, really relies completely on this BINDING FORCE Who is GOD in their relationship… That acceptance alone, will increase humility and understanding between partners… and most importantly, HOPE will grow for them to look forward to their relationship’s NEXT day :)

Shall say a prayer for you… if you are feeling simillar pain that is… and yes, help say a prayer for another brother / sister, who is also looking for love :)

God bless you and your home in abundance… Blessings…

Also realized… about the factor where an ‘unholy’ / ‘painful’ / ‘unpeaceful’ relationship ALREADY exists in one’s life… Again, ASK GOD for self-control, for the strength to fight what HE does NOT WANT… and to go with WHAT GOD thinks right for you… Some clutches / chains / claws… be it terribly, frightfully strong… emotional / physical / mental / spiritual / anything… and can SEEM bigger than yourself / your situation / your abilities… BUT remember, for GOD, all of that can be removed in one simple twinkle of HIS eyes :D The moment you let HIM know, YOU DON’T WANT something / someone who is NOT as per GOD’s will in your life… you will see, that your freedom is the NEXT BIG JOB for GOD to complete for you :) BUT, yes a BIG BUT, you MUST WANT that freedom… WANT that NEW LIFE that has been reserved for you… with your whole self, your entire being, your whole precious heart… :)

Again, BEST wishes for your BEST :)

Sorry if my earlier notes 51. 52, seemed like big lectures / tall sermons, dear people… it was not directed to downsize or hurt anyone… just felt like somebody might want a hug :) And so yes… there it was… :) That was sent with some prayer… and all the best wishes I could think of, for love and hope… to whoever receives it :)
Cheers! n God bless…
