OlderGwyneth Paltrow: 'Country Strong' Music Video Premiere!
Gwyneth Paltrow straps on a guitar and shows off her musical side in the video for “Country Strong” from the upcoming drama of the same name.
The flick, in theaters December 22, follows alcoholic singer Kelly Canter (Paltrow) as she is taken out of rehab by her manager husband (Tim McGraw) and kicks off a career resurrection tour.
Gwyn, 38, has also been busy filming her guest spot on Glee.
Creator Ryan Murphy shared yesterday (October 13) at a Paley Center chat that she just shot a scene dressed as Mary Todd Lincoln, in which she screams at a teapot! Gwyn plays a substitute teacher who teaches the class about bipolar rants.
Ryan also revealed Gwyneth will be filming a big musical number from Chicago!
FYI: Gwyn is wearing a Monroe gray tank, Isabel Marant leather pants, and Stella McCartney stilettos. The other outfit is a silk sleeveless shirt and skirt by Vanessa Bruno. All jewels by Isabel Marant and JewelMint!

Obviously it was previously recorded, mentioning anything about it is pointless. As for the song, I find it interesting that she’s willing to sing for a movie, her voice is great and it shows her dedication. Sorry to disappoint Justin Bieber fans, there are other musicians.

She probably thinks she’ll score another Oscar nom — it has been a really long time since the first one — by doing a poor man’s Crazy Heart but this plays more like a cheesy Lifetime movie.
Keep your eye on Garrett Hedlund though. He’s the one to watch in this film.
@Dan: It’s not pointless at all and I don’t see any correlation to people being Justin Bieber fans for pointing it out. That’s just sour grapes on your part. It’s glaringly obvious which is why it’s worth mentioning. Not sure why they couldn’t fix that.

@Movie Watcher: Caught a sneak preview of this the other night. It’s not bad. Agree, he rocks. Gwyneth was o.k. If anyone is nominated for this it will probably be Garrett.
Her voice is pretty good but she seems to be doing a rendition of how she thinks a country western singer should appear and it’s grossly off base. I’m wary of what she’ll come up with for Glee now.
That was weird. Something is odd about it. Maybe it’s all that bouncing and total lack of rhythm, mixed with a song that covers a range of about 5 notes. I’m assuming she’ll be using some sort of southern accent in this movie. UGH!

I’ve always wondered why Gwyneth never cut an album. She’s as good as some of the top singers. This explains why. She sounds fine on the track but she has no stage presence. Very awkward indeed.

this is the same as that cooking video. gwyneth is a decent actress, but she has no personal charisma. she’s good at playing fictional characters but not very charismatic as herself and she does not have the intensity that singers need to hold an audience’s attention.
