OlderWentworth Miller Heading to 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand'?
Wentworth Miller has reportedly expressed interest in taking over Andy Whitfield‘s title role in Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
The Starz series is moving forward with a recasting after star Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and has been undergoing aggressive treatment.
According to EW‘s Michael Ausiello, producers are in search of a male in his mid- to late 30s to play the role, which also requires an authentic British accent and the willingness to sign a three-year contract.

A three year contract.He didn’t work out for Prison Break, said he was to lazy or for RE.Prison Break was for some years and he just kept gaining more weight.Now Spartacus.He would need to keep fit the whole time. Can he do that?

A hard worker. He’s not had an acting job for a year now.This is hardly a part he’d choose. Maybe it’s a PR stunt to get him some attention so he won’t be completely forgotten.
I haven’t really seen him in anything so I cannot comment on his talent. I just want them to find someone and get the show on the road. Its so good and the hiatus is SO hard.

Well this seems like a odd choice for Went, but as has been pointed out, he is not working and the movies he has lined up are not going anywhere right now. So does he need to get back to TV? Can he still fit in other work with a three year contract ? If he does get the role he had better work on more than just his arms………….. Good Luck either way. Why not Wentworth as Spartacus? He’s a great actor and he has more than the physical rudiments required for such a role: he is uber good-looking and tall and girls, what about that b.tt? His eyes and mouth are to die for. He would only need a couple weeks to carve new muscles. My question is: is the role befitting his immense talent?

I think this would be a good idea. He deserves his break and I was sad when Prison Break ended. He was what made the show even if it sucked towards the end. He’s a great actor and I hope there is some support behind this.

Love the show. Andy Whitfield played this role rather well. Not to mention Andy was really HOT. It’s too bad he has cancer. He’s the only reason why I watched it. I can’t see Went doing this but if he decides to sign on then I’m open to it.
I am curious to know why a ‘British’ accent is required to play Romans. Romans did not speak with British accents. Britain didn’t even exist back then. Geez.

I don’t know if Wentworth Miller is right for that role. Just looking at that picture, he would have to bulk up a lot!! All the actors on that series have a serious work out routine. Since Andy is an Aussie(I think), maybe they should look for another Aussie or a Kiwi to fill the role.

NO!!!! He will screw up the role. I would like to see Gerard Butler taking on the role. Miller doesn’t even have the right body frame to come close to what Spartacus looks like unless he is willing to take steroids. The fighting scenes will not look as real either. He does not have time to learn so much and it will show if they cast him. I will watch when Season 2 starts and whoever takes on the role I hope will live up to Andy.

Actually once I saw this headline I thought yeah this might work. Why does he need a British accent anyway everyone in the show has different accents. Scottish British New Zealand etc. that is the beauty of it who cares.
He has the more quiet intelligent masculinity as Whitfield does in my opinion which made him hard to replace in my mind but if you accept that Whitfield just can’t come back and you love the whole concept of the show, I like this idea.

Though I agree with the opinions say :IT’S HARD TO REPLACE AN ACTOR WITH ANOTHER 1 but Went is not any other one.I do believe he has a cute baby face & look,not sharp which this role equires but he’s brilliant knows what to do.
About his shape which some people see it doesn’t fit fighting scenes..I agree Went started to gain weight during S4 but he looks super fit now .

I don’t know Andy & I’ve never seen any of his roles but I pray & wish for him to be well & get back to his job on other shows or movies.

I mean, there’s no doubt in my mind that he can do it and do a great job at it. Wentworth would have to be trianed for the British accent. As far as his physique, he’s fine already. He may need to tone but that’s it. The Whitfield guy isn’t that bulky. He’s a very small man, actually even compared to his co-stars on the show. As a matter of fact, I think Wentworth is taller than him.

No offense to Wentworth but I would absolutely stop watching Spartacus B&S if he’s cast as Spartacus. I would find it unbelievable to watch an openly gay actor portray a character who likes women and this show is pretty sexual in that area and Spartacus has sex with women unlike some of the other characters on the show.

No I don’t think he can do it! No offense to him. Andy Whitfield was absolutely AMAZING as Spartacus and those are going to be some big shoes to fill. The only actor capable in my opinion is Sam Worthington. I almost don’t even want to watch the show without Andy in it, but I think Sam Worthington would do the role justice.
