Mel Gibson: No 'Hangover 2' Appearance

Mel Gibson will not appear in The Hangover 2 after all.

The 54-year-old actor was reportedly set to portray a tattoo artist in the second installment of the Hangover story.

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [Warner Brothers Pictures president] Jeff Robinov and his team,” director Todd Phillips said (via Deadline). “But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

They had mike tyson and he beat his wife and bit off pplz ears. If they can make room for him they can make room for mel.

Sooo… You bunch of hypocrites have no problem with Tyson, a CONVICTED RAPIST being in the Hangover, but you have a problem with Gibson because of his drunken rants?

@hypocrites rule: I don’t believe anyone mentioned Tyson being okay. I’m pretty sure no one reviewed the entire cast list for the first installment, but we’re talking about a sequel here. People are just saying they’d prefer Mel Gibson to be absent in The Hangover 2. If you’re going to get offended because they dislike racism and Mel Gibson, sorry.

I’m not a big fan of either Tyson or Gibson. But Gibson’s antics were more recent and fresher in people’s minds. I believe them taking him out of the film was a good idea. Many, but not all, are against him right now and I have a feeling the producers did not want it to hurt their box office revenue.

why would lousy actors want to be upstaged by one of the best actors of our time?

It is a good thing they cancelled on Mel because his appearance would have meant I did not go to see the movie.

An article from The Wrap suggested that Zach G wasn’t happy about Gibson being included in the movie. He said he has turned down parts because of moral issues before and it sounds like he might have been vocal about his objections to this one. If Phillips mentioned “cast and crew” then it’s doubtful Zach G was the only one.

@N.: if thats true then I like zach even more now. I really loved Mel Gibson, his talent and the person he seemed to be just astonished me but lately his behaviour make me ashamed to admit I once admired the man he was.

    natalie Says:

oh, one more thing: I am truly sadned that he was such a douche. had he not, he would have been one of the greatest of our time, not only in talent but in grace.

@I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER — Are you aware that the phrase you used regarding Native Americans is racist?

Please be careful about the phrases you so casually toss around, or you risk categorizing yourself in the same company as Gibson himself.
