Emma Watson Covers 'Marie Claire' December 2010

Emma Watson graces the cover of Marie Claire magazine’s December 2010 issue, on newsstands Tuesday, November 9!

Here’s what the 20-year-old actress had to share:

On her new cropped ‘do: “I’ve wanted to do it since I was about 16, and when Harry Potter ended in June, I just needed a change. It was quite symbolic for me. It’s very short; it was buzzed at the back and on the sides. And it’s really liberating that I can walk out without thinking about it.”

On growing up grounded and normal: “I’ve had so much freedom: sometimes it’s been hard. My parents wanted to protect me, but they had no idea how.”

I feel I should like her but something about her rubs me up the wrong way. She just seems so snotty/snobby.

  • Marie

What a great role model! I’m glad there are young adults like her to show kids and teenagers that not all of these actors turn our like Lindsey and Miley. She goes to Brown, models, acts, and is still down to earth.

  • Wendy

she looks like a very pretty boy…

  • sweetness

    she looks beautiful

  • Emma

She’s a pretty girl, but that cut just does not look good on her.

  • Annie

If she really felt ‘sick’ about her Potter fortune, she wouldn’t pose for a magazine cover with the caption “hollywood’s highest earning girl”.

  • ll

she has a pretty face. but that hair… eww

  • LH

This haircut is much better than her long, sort of wild hair. It frames her face and highlights her facial features. Adorable!

  • Marianne

Her haircut is really starting to grow on me. It’s giving her a really 60s vibe.

  • Gabby

LOVE HER!! The cover and the editorial is gorgeous!! She’s seriously the coolest, nicest, most down to earth celebrity in the entertainment business. I dont understand anyone who doesn’t like her because it makes no sense. There’s literally nothing negative that can be said about her…that’s actually true.

  • skaur

    pretty boy

  • Anne

I’m sure Emma didn’t demand the highest pay title on the cover. It’s just fact.

That is one beautiful photo shoot.

    Jealous girls to the left.

  • Iffy Miffy

@Annie: She said she wanted a change genius but that may be a bit above your comprehension level.
Anyway, love, love her. Probably the best role model out there for young people among the younger crowd (both actors and actresses).

  • smh

    she looks like Twiggy!

  • Dan

The negative comments here are absurd, you do realize that she was unaware of her fortune, but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy it. She deserves her fame and her wealth, she’s been hyped over long enough, it’s about time people know she can be a serious contender (sometimes it takes wealth to be a great actor, if not, you end up taking any role for cash, but with wealth you can be selective and choose only the best roles offered).

She looks beautiful, you know someone is beautiful inside and out when they can make drastic changes in their appearance and not care what the public might say. She’s a great role model and she’ll be in the business whether anyone likes it or not.

love marie claire & love her! totally getting this issue. (:

  • pheonix

damn! that hair sooo dont suit….ugh! >.< long is better for her, no offence! ^.^

  • Gabby

I love all these little kids who automatically equate short hair with boys. Really? Its like they’ve never seen short hair on a woman before. I love Emma’s hair. It looks amazing on her and she looks more confident with it.

  • LowSlash

I love that short do on her! So cute, it makes me want to go short again.

  • pheonix

why don’t u cut ur hair then? lol

  • natalie

@Annie: she doesn’t really pick the headlines.

  • Nono

You know what it is? She actually has standards, and follows them.

    sorry miss spell stunning

A little too much forehead to pull off the hair, but yes, chopping it all off is VERY liberating. I did it in 2008 and I’ve kept it short. It’s less work but it’s not worry-free as she says. After a shower it’s pretty reasonable, but if you shower before bed it’s pretty wild.

As for her not knowing how much she was worth– I doubt that. She’s a bright girl to be going to an Ivy League. Their pay on each film was PUBLISHED. She could do the math, or at least guess a vague amount.

OMG! This cover is stunning! I also loved her UK Vogue cover! Emma is just so AWESOME. I can’t even stand it. Her parents clearly knew what they were doing or maybe it’s just UK child stars in general…but somehow Emma has turned out brilliantly. The girl is intelligent, talented, funny, laidback, so normal and yet she’s grown up in the spotlight. All the American child stars, with the exception of a few (Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Elijah Wood, etc) completely lose their minds after a certain point. I don’t get it.

Emma’s a clear example that it must have something to do with the parents.
