Glee: 'Never Been Kissed' First Look!

After a two week break, Glee is back for a new episode this Tuesday and the first shots have been released!

In “Never Been Kissed,” Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) decides to do a boys vs. girls mash-up competition, just like in season one! The twist this time is that the boys have to sing feminine songs and the girls have to sing masculine songs.

The special guest judge for the competition is Coach Beiste, played by Dot-Marie Jones. The boys sing a mash-up of “Stop in the Name of Love” and “Free Your Mind” and the girls pick “Start Me Up” and “Livin’ On a Prayer.”

Other songs featured in the episode are Katy Perry‘s “Teenage Dream” and Bob Marley‘s “One Love.”

Listen to “Stop in the Name of Love/Free Your Mind” below!…

this second season is a mess, they are focusing on other parts ok, but the way they made rachel crazy and mean is all wrong.
last season she was crazy and funny, they forgot about mercedz and tina, and mr. shue is more imature than the glee clubers.
    they are wasting talent.

I totally agree with the above poster. Don’t get me wrong, I FLOVE Glee, but season two feels… different. It just doesn’t feel the same. They’ve changed Rachel from the funny, ambitious loud girl she, to a more quiet, boring character. Hello! Lea Michele got Golden Globes and Emmy nominations for best actress for her portrayal last year as Rachel Berry but it sure as hell wasn’t for playing this backburnered s h i t. I get that they have to share the spotlight and give them to other castmembers, but she was the strongest lead on that show. The show was going great last year with HER front and center. I just feel like her talent is being wasted now. As much as I love Finn and Rachel’s relationship, I don’t want that to be the ONLY thing going for Rachel. I want other storylines for her. Also, seriously, when do we get to meet her dads?

I have to agree that season 2 is not as good as the first one. The Rocky Horror Glee Show was disappointing. I still love the show and hope it will get back on track.

I hate the stupid show and don’t watch it, but reading the comments about season 2 being a disappointment gives me hope it will get canceled soon and I won’t have to see or hear anything about it again!

More emphasis on the lead characters Will, Rachel and FInn please. I’m not interested in the other characters and you’re cluttering the show with the supporting characters stories and losing sight of what made Glee so fun in the first place. And I am not watching Glee for the Kurt Hummel show either. Bring back crazy Rachel, sweet Finn and the inspiring Mr. Shue! Bring back the old Glee!

Season 02 is not as great as season 01 but I am liking so far.
And I am glad to see that Rachel doesn’t appear in every scene. I like Lea and she has the most amazing voice!! But the show is not about her it is about the Glee Club.
Let the others shinning too! And if that does not make Rachel the center of everything, so be it!

I agree that season 2 is pretty bad so far, but I don’t think it’s because they’re taking the spotlight off of some characters; “Glee” is a lot like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” oddly enough, in one big way: it works best when it’s focused on the ensemble cast and one particular character gets the spotlight per week.

My BIG problem with season two is that they, for reasons unknown to God and man, decided to reset the clock on any and all character development from season one for every character except for Quinn, Kurt, and Sue.

Finn is no longer sweet and funny; he’s kind of a d-bag. Rachel has taken every bad part of her personality from season one and forgotten all of the good parts (I’m not a huge Rachel fan, anyway, so less of her in this season is wonderful as far as I’m concerned), Mr. Schue is, as one reviewer already pointed out, acting more immaturely than most of his students, Mercedes is a secondary mouthpiece, Tina’s a shallow b-word, Artie is a big ol’ bag of stupid…it just goes on. There’s a total disconnect from everything that made season one great. (And yes, I also agree with an above commenter; the Britney Spears episode was AWFUL.)

I liked the premiere…kind of. “Grilled Cheesus” certainly had some good moments, and “Duets” had a few good moments. But honestly, this upcoming episode “Never Been Kissed” is the first episode I’ve been excited about since the end of the first season, and I’m really, really hoping that the writers are starting to realize how negative a reaction they’re getting from some of us original gleeks on the direction they’ve taken the show this season.

    Observer Says:

I think this is why I never liked being a big “fan girl” of anything.

Honestly, I’m not seeing anything that wrong with this season. Yes, it has changed atmosphere but it is simply because if they stayed with the original feel from season one then the show would die off a lot faster then you’d think. I like the change, personally. It feels more adult to me. I like how they’re giving the miner characters a bigger spotlight; I like that they are developing Kurt’s and Burt’s father/son relationship more; I like that they are putting some real drama in the show like the episode “Grilled Cheesus”; and most of all I like that there is finally a show that doesn’t just show gays and lesbians as stupid stereo types.

Like I said before, this season feels more adult to me. And I like that. Feel free to reply.

    Alice Says:

The show worked best and was far more entertaining and cohesive when they had a very clear focus on Rachel, Finn, Schue and Sue. And when they were less guest stars and stupid themed episodes that do nothing to advance the plot. The more they try to appease fans who have developed a love for some of the supporting cast by giving them more screen time, the worse it gets.

I get that the Kurt story line is important on a lot of levels, but they’re ruining the character for me. He’s become just that ‘gay kid from Glee’ to a lot of people and that’s sad. He’s more than just his sexuality. It’s obvious that they’re trying to get Chris Colfer another Emmy nod and possible win, which really ruins any organic growth in the plot by forcing that angle. Regardless, even if he does get the nom again, he still won’t win. Glee is in the comedy category and there’s nothing funny about his character.

Lea won a lot of words and received some pretty important (and well-deserved) nominations last season for making such an obnoxious character somewhat likable and sympathetic. Now, she’s just the girlfriend. The show was supposed to be about the outcasts and all the cheerleader plot lines are driving me crazy. I don’t care! I care about the original six and that’s it.

Fix this writers or my increasing boredom will drive me and a lot of people away from the show. If it hasn’t already.

I’m sorry but all of you are being whiny little brats. I have been a hard core gleek from day one and while I agree that the focus has moved somewhat from the main characters this is a good thing. If they kept the focus on Rachel and Fin most people would rapidly get bored of the the show. The focus on other characters is awesome as we now have a wonderful ensemble of characters to watch. For me the only disappointing episode was the Britney one. Other then that they have all been awesome. Ryan Murphy has a brilliant way of delving into current issues of they day in a very clever “Glee” sort of way, This show is awesome and I hope it just carries on going and going. All hail Glee :-)
P.S. This episode of Glee was so amazing and powerful. Good on you Ryan Murphy for doing such a good job in exploring a very sensitive issue they way you did. Bullying is evil and needs to stop.
