'Conan': 4.2 Million Viewers for First Episode!

Conan O’Brien‘s first day back as a late night host brought in 4.2 million viewers to TBS!

The first episode of Conan beat out The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report while giving Lopez Tonight a nice lead-in – and possibly the highest numbers ever for the TBS show!

“Conan’s audience has been very vocal online, and he clearly made a smooth transition from Twitter to TBS,” Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said (via Deadline). “Conan delivered an extraordinary audience and stands out as the youngest talk show on television.”

I thought the beginning was really funny. His music segment with White was also fantastic – didn’t know he was a musician. I don’t like the awkwardness of the antics with the hair and the string dance – it feels old to me – let it go. The guests were kind of lame – he needs to learn from Fallon and relax a bit and involve the guests in skits, etc. All in all, a good beginning though. I’d just say RELAX. I’ll tape him and DAily Show. I do think letterman is very funny and I do tape him. Leno is a goner, though. He is a bore, and the fact that he doesn’t really like people comes through. He often seems mean. No Leno ever for me.

I’m super excited Conan’s back on T.V. He’s been the only talk show host I’ve actually watched since day one and have continued to watch over the years (until he lost his “Tonight Show” gig). Hopefully viewers will continue to come back to the show, this way he won’t get booted off this network as well. I’m not sure whether it was because the show was really good due to the amazing guests, or the excitement of finally having Conan back in my life, but the show went pretty quick. Didn’t even seem like a whole hour.

I don’t think he will hold on to such audience number. Just the flavor of the week. Never like before, will never like after.

If only all those people had watched his Tonight show, then all that sh!t-slinging could have been avoided.
