Madonna: Stop The Bullying -- And Gossip!

Madonna makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show via satellite to speak out against bullying.

Here’s what the 52-year-old pop icon had to share for an episode airing Tuesday (November 9).

On bullying: “I’m incredibly disturbed and saddened by the overwhelming number of teen suicides that have been reported lately because of bullying … to hear that teenagers are taking their lives because they are being bullied in schools and dormitories, what have you, is kind of unfathomable.”

On talking to her kids about this issue: “We talk a lot about the importance of not judging people who are different. Not judging people who don’t fit into our expected view of what’s cool and what isn’t. Think about it across the board.”

On fixing the problem: “If you want to talk about solutions or how can we solve this problem, try to get through the day each and everyone of us without gossiping about somebody. And not only that. Not even listening to gossip. Walking away from it. Can you imagine what your day would be like? How much more free time you’d have? I also feel like you’d feel about better about yourself.”

They should have brought attention to bullying years ago, this is not a new phenomena, all of a sudden all these celebrities are against bullying and speaking out. That’s great but where were they all those years when this could have been addressed? Remember all those school shootings in the mid to late 1990′s? What about the Columbine High school massacre? I don’t remember one celebrity or entertainer talking about that at all.

Do u think they really give a damm about that? Celebs are puppets most of them and they tell us whatever is told them to tell. Simple. U think Madonna cares about that? U think the fake bitch Jolie cares? BTW did u know her twins are mentally disabled, this being the reason they were kept hidden for an year? U didnt know, of course, official crappy sources wont tell u that. U think they care about the real issues? About racism, environment, bullying, rape, discrimination? Please…. There are too few really concerned about that…

You can tell most of the celebs are a pupet but definetly NOT Madonna LOL. If anything she is the one controling everyone around her circle. I think its nice she said something about it, it probably affected her more because she was an outsider herself at school and didnt really fit until she came to NY.

it’s terrible how teens think it’s “cool” to bully. when they are a teen and someone commits suicide because of their bullying, they won’t understand consequences until they mature. then the impact will hit them and they will have to deal with the facts the rest of their adult lives.

I’m sick and tired of the “stop the bullying” crusade. Is this the new celebrity fad? Bullies have always existed and always will, there’s no stopping it. Why? because humans are evil by nature. I’m sure we were all bullied to some degree at school and we’re still alive and well. We have to teach kids to be strong minded and don’t care about what others say. It’s all about not giving in to group pressure and being fine on your own.

I am glad more and more people are coming to the public to discuss this. Lets face it.. kids can be cruel when they aren’t in a loving environment and to pick on somebody until the point of suicide is just disgusting. I applaud Madonna for speaking out and especially speaking out to the community that loves her the most.
