and if other woman would be more successful than Satsuki.
    ————————————————-
    What a banal question!
an unquestionable truthーRachel is Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress

She is beautiful, and what is more, very talented.
    _________________________________________________
    You got it wrong.
I thought if other woman will be able to outsmart Satsuki in that point she will be the “succesfully Mrs Craig” and have baby with Daniel.
Everybody knows that Satsuki is the “good-for-nothing” hard working for years on certain thing: marriage.
as for Rachel Weisz, I give a damn sh.eet. about her, dont make a Goddess of her because she is not.
if she is something so its just looking like an ordinary, normal looking woman from Roseberry Street in London. I saw her Mummy and? nothing much special with her. by the way, i remember, she made a movie with her husband and both were disappointed when the movie lost, right?
Brigitte Bardot from France was more sexy in her young ages and there are many talented actress in Europe with that difference that they are away from Hollywood and away Oscar commitee. Maybe Rachel just knows the right way like Helen Hunt or Meryl Streep who are ones of excellent actresses but they admit they needed to sleep with directors and producers to get a chance in Hollywood. Rachel also mishmashed with important guys.

  • bianca

If Weisz is mishmashing with Craig so he got one woman with fantastic eyebrows that she combs like her hair.

It doesn’t make a difference whether he’s in bed wit Sats, Rachel, Kate or Sienna, he’s not in bed with you. No matter how bad you are wanting it and how bad you try to put any woman down who’ll be with HIM. Be sure, it won’t be you, NEVER!

  • to all

He did go to the gay club, that much is true,. but she may have been behind the rest of it, kising the guy in the parking lot. if you will recall, it started on the internet, by some guy in New York and then it blew up from there. someone did contact TMZ and stated that he was gay, right, well I have spoken with a number of people in the industry journalist, and some pr people. no one seem to know about him being gay. I was on a location shoot, and there were a couple of pr people there, they told me that Hugh Jackman was gay and his wife was his beard, when I asked about Daniel, they both said they had not heard that. I also spoke with a an openly gay producer for an entertainment show, when I told him about the rumors about Daniel , he was suprised to hear that, this guy is very active within the gay community, yet he did not know about this. apparently she( the EX) was behind the daily mail rumor that they had gotten married, well that pissed him off. make no mistake there were problems long before that. Things kept piling up, he just got fed up,

  • to 257

    @to all:

Thanks 257, for setting the record straight. I always had a gut feeling that she was behind the Daily Mail marriage lie. i just cannot believe that she would risk everything with Daniel just to give herself a ‘married’ status and pretend to the world she was married! NOW let’s see,,,,’ if’ she is photo’ed again somewhere, lets see if she is wearing the rings or if she has the integrity (probably not) to take the rings off and stop trying to jerk everyone around and acting like an arrogant a*s..

  • to 257

She sure did go to a tremendous amount of work to set all of the marriage lies up . Good for Daniel that it all backfired in her face, and very badly too. I guess she has a lot of explaining to do to her friend and family. No wonder she is struggling to try to stay ‘friends’ with Daniel.
As another poster put it on another website, no wonder it is ‘Paramount to her to stay friends with him” , that is all she has and she pushed him too far and BLEW IT ! It was not enough for the arrogant beeeee-yatch that Daniel gave her everything he could afford to. Just like that Sarah larson chickie and Clooney. He dumped her butt too on the side of the road, just like Daniel did to the escort service.

  • second that

    to all @ 11/28/2010 at 6:14 pm

yes, the former GF was hurt that the relationship ended, i get that. however, satsuki could have and should have accepted the ending with grace and dignity. if she had would not be “struggling” to remain friends with Daniel. if you are correct that it was her who put those rumors on the net then she has a serious problem. that kind of behavior is just plain childish.

Thanks for valuable info! Oh wow, young Daniel was a rugby player at Hoylake rugby club, huh? So I accessed ‘Guinness’ Premiership Rugby official site. Northampton Saints surely played against London Irish at home, and won! BTW is Daniel a Saints fan?

Hi Fio. I think the belt has nothing to do with the size or the ABILITY of the gunHANDLER…omygash, i think i am losing air…..

and i am now thinking of what position *oxygen, breathing is good* Dan played in Rugby—he definitely was and still is a TIGHT-END!!! um, does that mean he was at the game and wasn’t papped? Did he go hidden? Pictures always pop up….and they may have them at the “exclusively us-who-believe-Sats-is-still-in-the-running-for-Mrs-D.Craig” site. Imagine what they would do if she DID do something or say something against him? Must wipe out a full thread. But I believe she didn’t and won’t….at least for the “gag-order” is up.

Note to self – Get a blue shirt or sweater. (yeah that really was my eyes in the picture)
It seems like his eyes have the ability to absorb color from what he’s wearing. In some pictures his eyes looks almost grey and in others they are so piercing blue that you have to catch your breath after looking at them.

Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys Aliens’ stirs writers’ war

HollywoodNews.com: The writers of Jon Favreau’s upcoming summer action film “Cowboys & Aliens” are having a shoot-out.

Turns out titan scribes Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lidelof are getting their names listed along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg who authored the graphic novel.

However, the earlier writers on the project want their names listed. The Writers Guild only permits a limited number of names under the scribe credits and eight writers and writing teams have lent their ink to “Cowboys & Aliens” which isn’t unusual for a studio tentpole.

DreamWorks and Universal are double-teaming on the film and are unspooling it next summer.

The Hollywood Reporter had the headlines.

I mostly agree with you. I have also talked to a lot of people: agents, PR, creative executives, producers. Nobody could say with confidence Daniel is gay. Many of them don’t know much about his personal life. A few of them told me he is straight. In contrast, all of them said Hugh is gay, there is no doubt about it. Not even one person said he is not. It is a known fact.

Recently, however, a few of them told me Daniel is bi. They don’t have real stories to back it up and often link him with Andy Cohen. When I ask about Satsuki they say she could well be a beard hired to cover up for him. They knew very little about her. Even though she is often introduced as a producer, she is not really a real HW producer with name recognition within the industry.

    I agree with you.
Satsuki used wrong tactics how to get Daniel into her red-nailed clutches. So she is a good-for-nothing and now is not able to be at least a married woman at her 34 age. that is reality for her this time.
I personally think that marriage is not an important thing and when I see there are many divorced people so its better to think better about it. If Daniel and Satsuki are not harmonious gf and bf together so how would they be a husband wife? If a man decides to get marry his gf so for two things as one posters said beautifully: if he is in love or he loves. I would love to see Daniel at least once be happy and happily married and play with baby in a sand-pit or walking through Central Park in NY.
well, as some posters speculate about his orientation so
he would marry a man? where then is the Mr.Right for Daniel?
Aha, so he waits many years for appearing Mr.Righ, not for the green eyed lady? what a pity. So Ahoy all, have a nice day.

    Funny Sam Rockwell Interview!

    Cowboys & Aliens Set Visit

    http://www.superherohype.com/features/articles/110995-cowboys-a-aliens-set-visit

On August 19, 2010, a group of other online journalists and I visited the set of Cowboys & Aliens. At the time we visited, the cast and crew were shooting at a location called “Plaza Bianca” about an hour north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The property is owned by the Dar al-Islam Mosque and features a canyon of white rock carved over the centuries into a surreal landspace. It’s a location suitable for both cowboys and aliens and several productions have shot there in the past including City Slickers, Young Guns, Wyatt Earp, Earth 2, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, The Missing, and more.

As we arrived at the set, it at first looked like any other movie set. There were a fleet of trailers, caterers, vans, and dozens of people wandering around with walkie talkies. But as we drove down into the canyon to where the actual filming was taking place, it was very apparent we were on the set of a Western. We immediately saw real Apache Indians dressed in period appropriate attire. There were horses tied to trees and settlers who were dirty, beaten, and bloodied. There were also cowboys with pistols. As we walked around a corner, we saw a massive metallic looking block dubbed the “Alien Tower.” We saw the bottom 30 feet of it, but with the help of CG it would be transformed into an 85 foot tall ship that, when emerging from the ground, would be a 300 foot tall ship. Floating over the prop ship was a large orange balloon that served as an eyeline reference. Yes, this was the first big sign that this film was a true genre-mashup.

Shortly after arriving on the set, we were escorted to a tent where we were able to watch filming. But here’s the catch – they were filming the very end of the movie. Not only did we have the movie spoiled for us, but we were embargoed from even discussing what we saw being filmed. So I’m fairly limited as to what I can say. We were able to briefly say “Howdy” to a few cast members. We met Keith Carradine (Sheriff Taggart), Ana de la Reguera (Maria), Walton Goggins (Hunt), Paul Dano (Percy), Noah Ringer (Emmett), Brendan Wayne (Deputy Lyle and John Wayne’s grandson), and Sam Rockwell (Doc). While we were discouraged from doing formal interviews with the cast, we were able to briefly chat with the funny and talented Sam Rockwell.

Q: Did Jon start talking about this script on “Iron Man 2″ or was it just that you two had so much fun working together you wanted to do it again.
Sam Rockwell: Yeah, we just had a good time. And Bob and Alex have a great track record, obviously. And Daniel was a big part of the decision, I think. And the part sort of turned into something and Jon’s just – we had a great time on “Iron Man” so we really worked well together.

Q: How awesome is it working with Harrison Ford?
Rockwell:It’s great. He’s awesome. You know, he’s Indiana Jones.

Q: Yeah, right. [laughter] I heard.
    Rockwell: Totally, yeah. He’s awesome.

Q: How did the experience differ, working with Jon on “Iron Man 2″ and then working on this movie? Is there a lot of improvisation?
Rockwell: Well, it’s a similar – we have a solid script but we improvise within that and we change stuff on the day, but the only obstacle here is obviously that we’re doing a period piece. So it’s not like you could just say anything, you know – you can’t just say, “Ah, Dude, that sucks.” [laughter] I mean, you can’t – you can’t do that because you’re in the Old West, you know.

We also briefly met Daniel Craig who plays Jake Lonergan. Two things were striking about him. The first was how much he looked like Steve McQueen. He looked very natural in the cowboy attire. The second striking thing about Craig was his blue eyes. Every heterosexual male journalist on the van later commented on their hypnotic power, a point that the females among us thought was quite amusing. Craig told us that he had to learn to ride a horse for this film and ended up being so taken by it that he planned to continue riding after the film stopped shooting. It was realizing a childhood fantasy to play a cowboy in a film in the actual West.

Then, of course, we ever so briefly met Harrison Ford. Now I’ll be honest, I’m a longtime Ford fan. I’m a major Han Solo and Indiana Jones geek. So it was a genuine treat to see him in person and in full cowboy attire. This was the first Western he’d done since The Frisco Kid in 1979, so when Ford walked up to where we were sitting, I jumped up and went over to shake his hand. As I was shaking his hand, he said, “So how does this work? We treat you nice and you write nice stuff about us?” Now what would you have said? Well, I did what any one of you would have done in the same position. My brain locked up, I said, “Uhhh…”, and that was it. And like you I later thought of a million other things I could have said but didn’t. Ford peeked in the tent, saw us chatting with Bob Orci, then departed. So that was my ‘Harrison Ford moment’ and I was happy for even that. I later asked Orci about what Harrison Ford thought of attending Comic-Con. Orci said they initially had to talk Ford into going, but once he got out on the stage and saw everyone’s warm reception, Ford was genuinely moved by it all. He and the rest of the cast were ultimately glad they went. As we watched Ford shoot scenes throughout the day, he joked with the cast and crew and even made some jokes on the side that I can’t mention due to spoilers. I hope they end up on a gag reel on the DVD. In an unusual move, Ford and Craig were there for all the shooting, even in scenes where you couldn’t see their faces. They repeated the scenes over and over even when they didn’t have a line of dialogue and they seemed to do so quite happily. We were told this was a great set with an energetic, positive cast and it was certainly apparent from what we saw.

Throughout the day we chatted with director Jon Favreau and producer Roberto ‘Bob’ Orci. But there was one group of cast members that remained strangely absent – the aliens. Even though we watched them shoot the very end moments of the movie, the look of the aliens was off limits. We did see a large alien body under a tarp at one point, but when asked about it later our chaperones denied its existence. The one look we did get was when Favreau brought out a clawed alien arm for us to ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over. If the arm alone is any indication, this will be a cool looking alien. Orci gave us a little more information over lunch in which he said they loosely based the aliens on the Babylonian legend of the “Annunaki.” According to legend, the Annunaki are an alien race with a distinct interest in gold.

As we were departing the set, we got to meet Dart the Dog who plays “Happy” in the movie. The energetic Border collie let us pet him. (Actors don’t usually let you do that on set visits either.) I had seen the dog earlier in the day chase down a lizard during the middle of a scene and eat it. So it was a cool dog. A crew person then came up to us and said, “I’m going to need everyone to move over. Harrison Ford’s coming and he’ll run you over!” We quickly moved to the side. Sure enough, Ford came zipping by us and Dart on a Gator at a high rate of speed, gave his trademark smirk and a wave, and shot past us on the way back to the set.

Saddle Up and Ride with the Cowboys & Aliens
We galloped to Santa Fe to meet Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and learn the secrets behind the 2011 tentpole!

    http://www.ugo.com/movies/cowboys-and-aliens-set-visit

Heading West for Cowboys & Aliens

It’s the early morning when we saddle up (aka board a bus) to visit the set of Cowboys & Aliens – but it might as well have been high noon.

We prepare to travel under the blistering sun into the desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where shooting on C&A has been going for several weeks. Equipped with a bandana, sunscreen and a borrowed pair of sunglasses that make me look like the out-of-town New Yorker that I am, myself and a wild bunch of gunslingers head to our first Wild West alien invasion.

    Giddyup!

After an hour drive into the middle of nowhere, our bus pulls into the company lot. Civilization! Or so we thought. Another bus pulls up to take us to the actual set, a hidden cove located down twisty, turny dirt roads. There’s no doubt care is being put into Cowboys & Aliens – hell, they’ve been building these mountain sets for thousands of years!

We arrive to a sea of trailers and hustling, bustling crew members, all combating long days in the hot sun, make-shift workstations and the potential of flashfloods (apparently there’s been more than one instance where the crew had to wrangle there belongings while the canyon they’re shooting in quickly fills with rain water. Eep!). Was that an alien arm? Yes, yes it was. But no time for that – we’re shuttled into a tent, where our adventure for Cowboys & Aliens really began.

Six-Shooting the Sh*t with the Cast of Cowboys & Aliens
The scene they were shooting (top secret – trust me, you don’t want spoilers) involved everyone in the cast, minus the lovely Olivia Wilde (there is no God) and everyone was game to chat. Read: we totally lucked out.

While we waited for shooting to begin, a dirtied up Keith Carradine moseyed over to our tent to say hello and show off his battle scars. For a Deadwood fan like myself, it was a particular treat to see Wild Bill Hickcock back in a ten-gallon hat and mustache. Carridine plays a sheriff in the film and from what we can tell, he’ll be easily moving up the ranks of badass old people.

Thanks to the enthusiastic and charmin Jon Favreau, we were then treated to a slew of hellos from the rest of the cast. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine) who we may have scared with our presence. At the young age of 26, Dano is a serious actor – it makes sense why a group of eager ears wouldn’t be the greatest thing to have on the sidelines. Nonetheless, Dano told us that working with Harrison Ford was something of a dream, having grown up watching his movies. Meeting Ford was a rare case of his own fandom. Glad to know I’m not alone.

Sam Rockwell plays the local doctor in Cowboys & Aliens and was excited to be reteaming with Favreau (he played bad guy Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2). Rockwell explained that life on the C&W set was a bit more restrained than the loose IM2:

“We have a solid script but we improvise within that and we change stuff on the day, the obstacle here is obviously that we’re doing a period piece. So it’s not like you could just say anything, you know? You’ve gotta like – you can’t just say, ‘Ah, Dude, that sucks.’ You can’t do that because you’re in the Old West.”

We kind of assumed playing a doctor meant he’d be burdened with the task of dishing out exposition. Apparently not:

“No, actually I’ve been lucky in that way, you know. I kind of serve as the Jimmy Stewart, Bill Paxton of the piece [laughs]. I’m sort of sincere, but I have those moments of levity.”

The greatest revelation? When we suggested that Bill Paxton would be thrilled to hear the comparison, Rockwell revealed that his performance in the excellent Galaxy Quest was mostly lifted from Paxton’s in Aliens. Incredible!

Daniel Craig was a busy man that day, but had time for a quick greeting. This is when every person on set began to swoon (that’s right, male or female). Craig is a bonafide star – a physical mix of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman who can turn on the badassery when needed. Luckily, he was kind enough to shake our hands and poke fun Favreau and Harrison. All in a day’s work.

It wasn’t in the books, but eventually, we had our encounter with the legendary Harrison Ford. He’s as rough, gruff and wily in real life as he is on screen. Our quick introduction went something like:

“So how does this work? I say ‘hello’ and then you guys say you like the movie?”

The pride of breaking Harrison Ford’s set visit cherry? Unmatchable. We all shook hands while attempting not to withhold the urge to bear hug our hero Han Solo. Later, he would zoom past us in his roadster golf cart, maniacally laughing while we stand in amazement.

The Cowboys & Aliens Challenge Coin
We had a long conversation with Jon Favreau about Cowboys & Aliens, but we had a particularly memorable moment when he shared a special insider treat with the group: the official Cowboys & Aliens challenge coin.

Favreau handed to each of us a thick, gold coin, adorned with pistols on one side (Cowboys!) and an alien spacecraft on the other (Aliens!). The design gives you an idea of what to expect from the alien spacecrafts in the movie.

Favreau went on to explain the significance behind the challenge coin:

“In the military – when we would work with the Air Force a lot, on Iron Man and Iron Man 2, we were at Edwards Air Force Base. I would shake hands with people, and I would feel they would stick a coin in my hands, right? It was a challenge coin.

“The reason they call it challenge coins is, if you don’t have your unit’s coin with you when you’re out drinking, and somebody pulls the coin out at the bar, if anybody in the bar doesn’t have a coin, they have to buy a round for everybody. But, if you challenge everybody and everybody has it, you have to buy the round for everybody. It was also a sign of respect, that they liked the way the crew was, and the way we treated, you know, them, and who were – it was a sign of respect to give a coin. So I had them made up for Iron Man 2. And it became like a tradition. So I had them made up for Cowboys & Aliens also. I made them look a little more old school.”

    Let the games begin.

    Canyons, Deserts and Spaceships
Looking at the monitor connecting to the production’s camera rig, you get a sense that Cowboys & Aliens will shape up to be a very big movie. And it should be – watch an old school Western and you’ll see a grand scale fortified in wider-than-wide landscape shots and gritty close-ups that speak the world.

Cowboys & Aliens is a Western, not a spoof of one. The scene we watched on set didn’t have any grandiose special effects. Instead, it had real actors in real costumes acting out real drama. The towns folk and Apache actors alike were stuck in the middle of sweltering heat gathering dust like their clothing was a sand sponge. Dirty. Good dirty.

While I’m not here to spoil the major plots (the scene we saw happened well towards the latter half of the film, and that just wouldn’t be fair), but if it sounds like C&A is just a bunch of costumed period players standing around talking, I’ll mention that I also saw a spaceship. A practically built space ship. In the middle of New Mexico.

Dream come true? I don’t think I dreamed that big.

Cowboys & Aliens, produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Steven Spielberg, hits theaters July 29, 2011.

I LOVE this sentence!!!!! “I would get pulled away from the bunch and be shown cool things like Daniel Craig’s gun and Daniel Craig himself.”

Set Visit: Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford on set for ‘Cowboys and Aliens’

    http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/motion-captured/posts/set-visit-daniel-craig-and-harrison-ford-on-set-for-cowboys-and-aliens

“Cowboys and Aliens” was shooting a good distance away from Santa Fe. As we sat on the bus for over an hour, parked in a large field and waited for another bus to take us to the set itself, I looked up at the giant desert sky and reflected on other set visits I’d been to, and how often they were not like this one.

Set visits, can often be very ordinary things. Usually we are ushered in quickly to a sound-stage somewhere to watch a scene over and over again. We are then escorted to another room and the actors are brought in, one by one, to discuss a movie that is currently in the process of being made, so no one is really sure what to make of it yet. Sure, they can talk about what they love in the script, how nice the other actors are, etc. But often times there are still lots of lingering questions: Will this movie be any good? Will it go straight to video?

“Cowboys and Aliens” will not go straight to video. The film boasts a production team of Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer, folks who certainly do not do things by half measures. And all though they weren’t present on the set when we visited, there was a certain confidence and enthusiasm present in everyone we talked to that really stood out in my mind as special and exciting. We may have hit a weird day, but everyone seemed… Happy.

We rode the second van up to the gorgeous white walls of a large box canyon where the days’ shooting was taking place, and then walked up to where the large scene was being shot. As luck would have it, the scene they had planned on shooting for our set visit was a smaller one with only Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. It was to take place further up the canyon and was to involve explosives, so we would have been stuck behind a monitor for most of the day. Due to scheduling matters and weather, they were shooting a much larger and more pivotal scene instead that day, and we got to watch it take place right in front of us, with almost every single star from the movie. We are ushered into an open sided tent facing the scene with a large air conditioning fan blowing cool air. Extras and actors alike, all wearing authentic western gear, saddle by us to get to the cool air. We see Keith Carradine, Sam Rockwell, and Anna de la Reguera come and go. Adding to the films credentials as a western, we even see John Wayne’s grandson Brendan Wayne swing by and say hi. I’ve noticed that folks tend to be friendlier when they are shooting on location, especially in a location without cell service. There’s really nothing else to do besides talk to each other, and any issues that one might normally be concerned with are far away, back in the city.

Now of course I can’t go into what the scene was. I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone and honestly, I kind of wish I hadn’t seen it myself. But oh, so are the perils of this job! Suffice to say that the scene involved Cowboys, Indians, as well as aliens, and people looking up into the sky.

Now as someone who has worked on many sets, and has more than once retreated to an art department truck to break down and have a cry when the stress got to be too much, I really couldn’t get over the general good humor of everyone we met. From the actors to the production assistants everyone was cheerful and nice, even the Assistant Director said “please” and “thank you.” Keep in mind as well that all these people had been shooting out in the heat of the desert for over three months. Once even evacuating the set due to a flash flood. They are in it for the long haul.
A large part of this good mood, can be attributed to director Jon Favreau. The guy is all smiles in his panama hat when he comes to say hi to us as they are setting up a different shot. Right off the bat he gives us the present of a “challenge coin.” In his words:

“We would work with the Air Force a lot, on “Ironman”, “Ironman II”, we were at Edwards Air Force Base. And I would shake hands with people, and I would feel they would stick a coin in my hands, right? And it was a challenge coin. The reason they call it challenge coins is, if you don’t have your unit coin, or a unit coin with you when you’re out drinking, and somebody pulls out the coin in a bar, if anybody in the bar doesn’t have a coin, they have to buy a round for everybody. But if you challenge everybody and everybody has it, you have to buy the round for everybody. But it was also a sign of respect, it was a sign of respect to give a coin. So I had them made up for “Ironman II”. And it became like a tradition. So I had them made up for “Cowboys and Aliens” also. I made them look a little more old school.”

He gives us all a large golden coin with two six shooters on one side and an alien spacecraft on the other. It’s kind of the coolest thing in the world. And every single internet journalist there is agape with wonder. He has won us over.

He then proceeds to completely ruin the movie for everyone present. Every plot twist is revealed and every piece of movie magic is demystified. “I’ve discovered that the only way to keep you guys from leaking stuff is to tell you everything. It’s when I don’t tell you that we get in trouble” he says with a smile. The man is incredibly well versed in film and excited about this project. He went from directing the indie movie “Made” to the mega-hit “Iron Man” franchise in less than ten years. He’s excited about his craft and especially excited about making a new kind of hybrid with “Cowboys and Aliens.”

The idea is to make a western with aliens in it, as opposed to a sci-fi movie with cowboys in it. When asked about his approach he replies: “You can do anything now. So we’re picking a very narrow interpretation of what an alien invasion means. You know, because it could be “Independence Day”, where it’s all about how big the ship is and how many ships come in, and how many ordnance that you could have fighting them. Or it could be like “Mars Attacks”, or it could be you know – the fifties stuff… So it’s picking what version, and limiting ourselves in a way that we would – that technology used to limit those filmmakers.”

Favreau is using as many practical effects as he possibly can in the film. Even things that you wouldn’t expect. If you notice in the trailer the invading ships that fly over the town have flashing laser lights. These were actual lights suspended by a crane and a great help for the actors who almost all commented on the fact. He continued.

“As far as the tone of it, I think what’s nice about the piece that we showed at Comic-Con, (The Teaser trailer, essentially) I think it shows the marriage (of the two genres.) So as a director, my biggest responsibility is to set the right tone. And whether I’m making a Western or a sci-fi movie, I would still have that responsibility. And I think I found the tone that marries the two. And it’s a balancing act, and that’s what makes this movie work.”

I happened to have a friend working on the set, so every once in a while I would get pulled away from the bunch and be shown cool things like Daniel Craig’s gun and Daniel Craig himself. Dirty and covered with sweat, I asked him how long he’d been out in the stinking desert. “since June, I guess” I commented that it must be pretty hot, but he shook his head. “There are worse jobs, I’m having fun.” Of course I missed Harrison Ford who came over to talk to the group, while I was talking with Craig, but I’m ok with that. I got to see him up close as he almost ran me down with his golf cart. “He will not stop” a friendly PA said hurrying me out of the way.

All in all I came away with a good feeling about this movie and an ever increasing respect for Mr. Favreau. The guy can talk and he knows his craft. That is,unfortunately, a lot more than you can say about many directors. As I rode back to the hotel I looked at my challenge coin and couldn’t help but get excited about this movie. I guess that was the point, wasn’t it?

    Hi, Guinness
“I think the belt has nothing to do with the size or the ABILITY of the gunHANDLER…omygash, i think i am losing air…..”
Gosh, I was thoughtless! Daniel has the ability to do ‘the work’. It’s quite obvious…
    Hi, DF
“if he isn’t then I could be his bed-warmer ;) I’m not electrical but he can turn me on any time he wants.”
I have poor circulation, so I want him to warm me. Awwwwww!
“In some pictures his eyes looks almost grey and in others they are so piercing blue that you have to catch your breath after looking at them.”
    Yeah, Sam Rockwell said so!
Quote: The second striking thing about Craig was his blue eyes. Every heterosexual male journalist on the van later commented on their hypnotic power, a point that the females among us thought was quite amusing.
    Hi, DiH
“Dan is coming to Toronto soon! Can’t wait! I know I sound like a kid (someone told me that once)”
Enjoy privileges! And share it with us!

Thanks for the tweet and info.
Swizerland? Wow. What scene will Rooney take?
DF, thanks for the Favreau interview article.
“Q: What movies or eras of Western films did you look to for inspiration? Even without the cowboy get up, Daniel Craig looks like a throwback to the yesteryears of film.
Jon Favreau: He looks remarkably like Steve McQueen did in the 70′s. It’s interesting, because you think of him as James Bond, but the minute you put him in – you’ll see him in his whole kit, as he calls it – his whole outfit – and he feels like the type of actor that you could cast back in the 60′s or 70′s.”
Even if we want to meet McQueen, the time machine is not necessary anymore :)
    Hi, Mendel
“of course, we need to do further research on Dan’s gun to make sure he gets the right belt size ;)”
I want to run for it. I’m a good researcher, you know ;)

  • Guinness

Excelllent reading, Fio and DF!! I have read many articles of this movie!! yey!! thx thx thanks! It is funny how we remember different things from the interviews and share it…it makes it a better friendship! Wow, imagine how dirty he was and getting to wash him. wow. I volunteer to be towel woman and of course, belt checker to Fio, and gun sized correctly–Mendel, and then DIH–you can be blanket girl!!! (that was clever). ohmygash–”ah, Mr. Craig, here is your ‘kit’ sir, would you like help putting it on?” hollly crap.

and…the 10 best things about C&A….well, I didn’t get past that first picture to get to the other 9!!!

cheers people, have fun. another late night i will check in….see ya Mendel too. ~G

    to DF
Ugh, sorry, I have misread it. Rockwell didn’t talk about blue eyes of Daniel…it was a reporter!
    to Guinness
I’m looking for the research material now! lol
I think this article is biased. I read much blog impressed by a trailer.
NO “False with one, false with two” you know.

In today’s Times, Michael Cieply reports on the strange reaction to the trailer for next summer’s Cowboys & Aliens, which has been unintentionally drawing laughs before screenings of Harry Potter. Universal is concerned, because of the film’s silly title and genre-mixing premise, that audiences are expecting a comedy instead of the joyless mash-up of Unforgiven and Alien that C&A apparently is. So how — apart from the movie’s already very somber trailer — can they better convince us of its “deadly seriousness”? Remix some Inception-style horns into the score? Give Daniel Craig’s character Parkinson’s? Have Mo’Nique play Harrison Ford’s abusive mom? Your suggestions are appreciated, we’re sure.

By usylo on 11/30/2010 at 10:36am

Laughter at my screening came with the reveal of the title. Everyone was amused, the laughter wasn’t derisive..

    By ineedm0neydotcom on 11/30/2010 at 11:23am

I disagree. When I saw HP7 the other night the entire crowd went silent and a good half of the audience clapped after the trailer was over. I think they have a winner on their hands based on that response!.

  • Daniel is Hot

“Daniel Craig was a busy man that day, but had time for a quick greeting. This is when every person on set began to swoon (that’s right, male or female). Craig is a bonafide star – a physical mix of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman who can turn on the badassery when needed” I liked this comment also. He has something extra special about him that men and women both find appealing. Those of us who saw him on stage know what I am talking about.
Thanks everyone for posting all those articles. I was excited to know Daniel was coming back to Canada (Toronto) but no, Fish and Chips you are the only one in the big TO – so go out and find him and send us pictures, please!

  • FishNChips

LOL…..I don’t think I will be able to find him. He will have to find me :)

  • Bianca

I am wondering why there are no photos from the set of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and what is happening inside.
If they dont improve trailer and poster so Cowboys and Aliens are going to crash at box office because many people dont like the trailer, Ford is too old to attract and Favreau talked in that interview only so confidently : “yah, awesome, great, I got James Bond into my film, also I got Indiana Jones, yeah.”
Because Spielberg was involved in the movie as a producer so they think it will have definitely success. well, Munich lost, so his name did not help the movie. Dream House is gonna to lose as well.

  • Mendel

Greetings from the freezing UK – it feels as if we were in Toronto at the moment!

    Hi Guinness

“going thru the body check xray machines”

If I were working at an airport, I’d insist on a manual check, for security reasons, you understand ;)

    “And Rhys looked mighty fine”

    Mighty fine indeed :)

“only wish MY hand was on his gun dammmit”

    Hahahaha, love the caption!!!

    to Fio

thanks for all your finds! And again, we have Dan and riding in one sentence *grin*

“he planned to continue riding after the film stopped shooting”

    Woohooo, keep on riding, Dan!!!

    to Guinness

“ohmygash–”ah, Mr. Craig, here is your ‘kit’ sir, would you like help putting it on?” hollly crap.”

Just what I needed in these cold times to keep me warm, the thought of Dan climbing nekkid out of an old fashioned bath tub! Superb :)

  • to Bianca

back to this again, are you Gina? first off, how do you know that Ford is too old to attract. there are a lot of women of all ages who would disagree with you; they will go to the film just for him. just because you, and others, don’t like the trailer does not mean the film will fail at the box office. the world does not revolve around your opinion here.

as for Munich, it cost 70 million US to make and it’s made something on the order of 300 million US worldwide. not exactly what i would call a failure. as for Dream House, how do you know it’s not going to be a success. have you seen the finished film? there are photos of the film set of Dragon Tattoo out there. just because they haven’t made it here doesn’t mean anything. it doesn’t mean that the film won’t be completed. and yes, Gina, we will see them in theatres before james Bond 23 comes out.

  • Guinness

Hi DIH! Let us hope he gets papped by someone in TO…I like his coat–maybe we will see the Silver Fox?

And yes, my friend, heat given off by just the mere thought of him climbing on me..i mean, the old-fashion tub. Very nice! And have some tea afterward!! oh! go on, go on, go on, go on, go on….just one cup! Ya know, I bet he gets sick of people telling and asking and talking about how wonderful his eyes are…so maybe when he drops by here, on his way to TO, I will comment on his professional success and nonchalantly bend closer and say, “wow, you have the nicest pair of glutes I have evah seen, can you wink one for me?” I just love the way he shoots a hip out!!! ok. i know…i repeat myself…anyway….have fun with this—-that is what it is meant to be, funny. yes, Dan does have the sexxxiest pic for a movie…he should win awards for that pose. dammmmnnnnn.
    http://www.afterelton.com/meme-11-16-2010?page=0,1

…and Mendel—can you hardly wait for the below linky to come to you??the title is misleading to the story. I am wiggin’ out! I caught my hubby rewatching the second one again–”is Nyqyvist good looking”, he asks…. I was “good” and recognize a trap so I say, yes, he is handsome (but Dan is gonna be smokin hot–well, he IS smokin’ hot).
