    Hi, DiH
““Daniel Craig was a busy man that day, but had time for a quick greeting. This is when every person on set began to swoon (that’s right, male or female). Craig is a bonafide star – a physical mix of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman who can turn on the badassery when needed” I liked this comment also. He has something extra special about him that men and women both find appealing.”
Well, I read a lot of ‘Set Visit’ articles/blogs. Daniel is considered to be dangerously seductive from EVERY journalist. What have he done? :)

Just my thought, but can’t see Daniel as Bloomvist being attracted to the likes of Lisbeth looking like that. What do you think? Hola, looks like Darren is attracted to woman who look like his former girlfriend or maybe it was to make Rachel jealous. Who knows.

David Arnold on Bond 23 – ‘we’re back on’ – awaiting script

    Bond 23 – 01-12-10

In a FilmMusicMag interview that mostly covers his score for the latest “Narnia” movie, David Arnold was briefly asked about the state of the 23rd James Bond film:

Now that it looks like the next Bond is finally getting going, have you thought about what you’d like to do for the next score? And how do you hope Bond’s character, and the series continues to evolve?

“I haven’t thought about it yet. We only just got the news that we’re back on. But ‘there’s many a slip twixt cup and lip’ So I will keep quiet until I get a script and then start writing ideas. I just hope the next one is as good as my favorites, as I think everyone does. And I’m always interested in what Daniel Craig brings to the part. But like most things with movies, if it ain’t on the page etc… All I can say is that I’m looking forward to a great script for it, alongside every other Bond fan in the world!”

  • Bianca

it’s scheduled for release in november 2012. happy now???
if the release was in 20.11. 2011 I would be happier.
MGM will solve problems this month and like I said if there something happened on the set of Dragon Tattoo so Daniel would jump on Bond at once. Peter Morgan left uncompleted script on the desk in EON office so it means producers can use it and let it finish. just wait some weeks.

  • Bianca

The next bondmovie is not expected to be a direct follow-on from Quantum of Solace (2008) and Casino Royale (2006) which the former was a direct sequel to the latter. Producer Barbara Broccoli has said that the series “will go on to other different stories from now on.” However, there still is likely to be the appearance of the QUANTUM organization, but with different villains. Moreover, Broccoli has also hinted at the possibility of a trilogy, which means a connection with Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008), saying that “I think in some way, he will go after the [Quantum] organization. So in that sense, it may become a trilogy, but we haven’t really structured it that way.”

  • to 316

    you’re an idiot.
Haven’t you noticed yet, that if they want a Novmeber 2011 release they had to start filming in January at latest, and that means the preproduction would have to be in full swing since summer 2010.
This is not the case, so NO Bond in 2011 FOR SURE!

If you had payed attention in the production of the last two Bond movies, you would have recognized that there always is a 6 month preproduction stage with scouts looking for locations, doing the paperwork woth owners of locations they want to use etc.
NOTHING of this has happend for Bond 23, so NO WAY they can go for a 2011 release.

  • to bianca/gina

yes, if Bond 23 were to come out in November 2011 i would be happier as well. but it will not happen. the sooner you accept the reality of this the better off you will be. nothing will happen to stop the filming of Dragon Tattoo; deal with it.

first off, yes peter morgan left the unfinished script on the desk at EON however they cannot use any of his work with out his written permission and consent. while EON may own James Bond they do not own the words on the script. it’s very complicated legally but essentially if they use any part of it then whoever finishes the script will have to allow Morgan’s name to be appear as co-writer.

then there’s the locations. as the previous poster say, it takes months to get the necessary permits to film. and no, the fact that it’s James Bond doesn’t give automatic access. in some countries, Eon will have to submit to an environmental assessment which can take weeks. then there’s the cast; Judi Dench like Daniel, is making a film and like Daniel she just cannot leave the set in order to make Bond.

then there is the financing of the film. the studio may not be able to have the money available before a certain date. which will also make it impossible for Bond to come out November 2011. Now, Gina, please stop your nonsense. you have made so many predictions that have been proved wrong. Bond is coming out November 2012. they will not change their minds to make you happy.

Simon Russell Beale eyed for role? Babs seems to move stealthily…

Kate Winslet to move to London with estranged husband Sam Mendes as he shoots new Bond movie

The new James Bond movie will be a family affair for Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes.

The Oscar-winning film-maker is expected to direct Daniel Craig in the latest 007 adventure some time towards the end of next year, with the production likely to be based, as usual, at Pinewood film studios.
Kate revealed that their son Joe, seven, and Kate’s daughter Mia, ten, will move to the UK with her for the period of filming.

‘Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens. It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me,’ Kate told me exclusively.

Kate and Sam separated last year but have remained on as friendly terms as possible, primarily because of the children — and because they still like each other, despite the split.

I asked Kate if there was a small role for her in the Bond picture, perhaps as a Bond girl? She laughed and shook her head and said: ‘No!’

However, she did not rule out the possibility of working with Sam again. ‘I can see us working together again — that’s the way it is.

‘We’re really good friends and have very good respect for each other. I can see it, but you’d have to ask Sam what he thinks,’ Kate told me.

Sam and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli have already had many meetings over casting, and Ms Broccoli has visited the play Deathtrap twice to see Simon Russell Beale perform.

The leading actor is an old friend of Sam’s and they’re keen to work together again.

But before filming Bond, Sam will direct Kevin Spacey in Richard III at the Old Vic in June, as part of what’s called the Bridge Project.

It will be the final production of the theatrical partnership between the Old Vic, Neal Street Productions and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Kate has one more day of shooting in Chicago on Steven Soderbergh’s film Contagion, where she is part of a team trying to control a virus outbreak.

The film is a thriller with an ensemble cast that includes Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard.
Kate has done just nine days of filming on Contagion, spread over several weeks.

However, she laughed at erroneous reports suggesting she was packing up and moving to Chicago for good.

Have not heard, and of course when he gets to Canada, I am the first person he calls. Not! So is he on vaca in Mozambique? Better than being in Siberia, Sweden. C’MON HOLLYWOOD: Get Bond 23 Back On-Track!

It’s been two years since the last James Bond film, QUANTUM OF SOLACE came out. If everything were running smoothly at MGM, this holiday season Bond would once again be shooting it out at the multiplex, as the usual course of action for the Bond series is to leave two years between each installment.
But alas, it’s been over two years and a new Bond isn’t even close to going into production. Now, this isn’t the first time there’s been a delay between Bonds. After THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN flopped, it took three years for THE SPY WHO LOVED ME to hit the silver screen, as script problems and the departure of co-producer Harry Saltzman ended up delaying the film. Between LICENSE TO KILL, and GOLDENEYE, we went six whole years without a Bond due to legal troubles, and many thought that was the end of the greatest action hero of all time. Luckily it wasn’t, and in the guise of Pierce Brosnan, 007 was back sipping Vodka Martini’s (shaken, not stirred of course), shooting it out with baddies, and getting it on with Euro-babes by the fall of 1995.

Brosnan’s films typically hit theaters according to the two-year rule, with the only exception being DIE ANOTHER DAY, as it was delayed a year to take advantage of the fortieth anniversary of DR.NO (this ploy obviously worked, as DIE ANOTHER DAY remains the highest grossing domestic Bond film- despite its undeniable suckitude). We had another lengthy delay once Pierce Brosnan was dropped (or retired depending on who you ask), and it took four years of screen-tests and re-writes to bring us CASINO ROYALE.

Judging from the finished film, it’s a good thing they took as much time as they did, as it was easily the best Bond film since at least GOLDENEYE. Once that became a smash hit, the series was once again back on track and QUANTUM OF SOALCE hit theaters exactly two years later. While many (including myself) found QUANTUM OF SOLACE to be underwhelming compared to ROYALE, it was nevertheless another smash it, raking in $586 million worldwide.
As the series is obviously as popular as ever, you’d think another installment would be a no-brainer. Sure enough, earlier this year work actually began in a rather promising fashion with Peter Morgan (FROST/NIXON, HEREAFTER) being hired to write the script, and Sam Mendes (AMERICAN BEAUTY, ROAD TO PERDITION) attached to direct.

But then, Bond met his most tyrannical, evil foe- bankers!

By now, everyone knows about MGM (the studio behind Bond) and their financial troubles, and I’m not going to elaborate on it here- for the sole reason that I can barely understand what’s going on myself. As it stands, MGM is bankrupt, and Bond isn’t the only franchise affected. THE HOBBIT also went on hiatus (but is now seemingly back on track), and already wrapped films like RED DAWN, and Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS are sitting on the shelf as the studio hasn’t got the capital to release them.

My issue is this. MGM should have waited until the next Bond was off the ground before they started sinking money into THE HOBBIT or anything else. While HOBBIT will certainly be a smash, it’s also going to be damn costly. While the Bond’s now cost between 150-200 Million a film, that’s still cheaper than THE HOBBIT will end up being. With Bond being as huge as it is, they’re all but guaranteed to make the money back- so that should have been their priority rather than sending a big budget film like RED DAWN into production. Another nail in Bond 23′s coffin was likely HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, which to date is the last film MGM’s gotten into theaters. While the budget was modest, they spent big money on the marketing campaign in order to turn it into another HANGOVER. While the film did fairly well, it was not a huge money-maker, and it looks like it all but broke the back of the already cash strapped studio.
At the very least, the MGM situation seems to finally be resolving itself somewhat, but there are other problems. The biggest problem is that Daniel Craig, after two massive Bond blockbusters is now (deservedly so) a megastar and a busy guy. This year, he’s starring in both COWBOYS & ALIENS, and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, both of which will likely become franchises. In order to get the next Bond in theaters before 2014, they’ll have to act fast and get it in production at some point next year as Craig’s going to get busier and busier if one (or both) of those films are successful enough to warrant a follow-up. Luckily, Craig seems open to returning (and is perhaps even contractually obliged), but lately I’ve had a feeling in my gut that we may have seen the last of Craig as Bond. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Whoever ends up with their hands on the franchise after the MGM situation is cleared up (fingers crossed for Sony, which did a great job as a co-producer on the last two) needs to get a new Bond going as their first order of business. Luckily, Bond is still in the hands of the Broccoli family, and my hope is that they’ve continued working on the script throughout the delays to assure a new Bond will be in production before long. At the very least, we need AT LEAST one more Bond film with Daniel Craig to close out his storyline, before yet another re-boot (God forbid). The fans that have been following the franchise for almost fifty years deserve it. It makes me very sad to note that 2012 with mark the fiftieth anniversary of the series, and that year likely WON’T be marked by a new Bond film.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA

    PARTY???!!! HAHAHA

Federal court confirms MGM bankruptcy plan

MGM isn’t out of the bankruptcy jungle just yet, but a judge has approved the Lion’s financial-restructuring plan — reports THR

The Chapter 11 reorganization is expected to take effect within two weeks once MGM buttons up a final portion of the bankruptcy process in the wake of its successful confirmation hearing Thursday in New York. In addition to finalizing various court documents, MGM expects by mid-December to arrange $500 million in financing to fund operations of the Century City studio after its exit from bankruptcy court.
That is why David Arnold said “we are back on” because first money come from the new investors and production can start.

Next James Bond Skedded For Nov. 2012?

There’s still no official word. But I’m hearing from 007 insiders that production should start on the next James Bond movie — “Bond 23″ — towards the end of next year for release November 2012. Makes sense since MGM’s future is now sorting itself out what with the pre-packaged bankruptcy getting approval, and Spyglass taking over studio filmmaking, and star Daniel Craig finishing his film commitments. The actor began work on the Hollywood remake of the Swedish original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as soon as he completed shooting Cowboys and Aliens in a nifty bit of schedue coordination between Dragon Tattoo-maker Sony Pictures Entertainment, DreamWorks partners Stacey Snider and Steven Spielberg, and James Bond rights holders Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson. Adding to the mix is that yet another James Bond videogame which had been held up because of the uncertainty recently got the go-ahead. Meanwhile, the latest 007 vidgame is for sale this Christmas.

It’s still not clear who will distribute the next bond. Deadline’s Mike Fleming reported last month that, if MGM isn’t a distributor, the next installment of James Bond will be a jump ball. Expect Sony (which distributed Casino Royale) to battle it out with Warner Bros and Fox, but Paramount could emerge in the thick of it because of its close relationship with Spyglass over the film reboot of Star Trek and sequel.

The British newspapers also indicate Bond 23 may now be casting. Today’s Daily Mail reports that 007 producer Barbara Broccoli has been to see actor Russell Beale twice in his current West End play Deathtrap. Also, the Shakespearean actor is starring as King Lear for Bond 23 director Sam Mendes in a National Theatre production in 2012. And he’s exec producing Shakespeare’s History Plays for a new BBC TV season that Mendes is also overseeing. Beale told UK newspaper The Independent earlier this year that he’d already dropped a hint to Mendes that “Every actor wants to be in Bond. I’d love to be a baddie.”
