I’m no fan of Justin BUT I admire the fact that this new batch of young artists are mostly really talented: Jonas Bros, Miley, Selena, Demi and a slew of others under 20, all play musical instruments, can read music and some of them even write their own lyrics. Their voices might not be “there” yet. But remember, these are teenagers. Their voices, like their bodies, are still maturing. I hope this is becomes a new, permanent trend and that the talentless “Britneys” become a thing of the past.

@African Queen: Have you heard Britney and Christina ‘s voices at the age of 10, 11 and 12 were more mature than the Miley’s, Selena’s, Justin’s and the rest of today’s stars. Today’s teen stars do not have to have talent, all it is good looks. Britney is far from talentless have you seen her Live? the dancing, lights and her stage presence only rivals that of Janet, MJ or Madonna. She writes poems, songs, plays piano and guitar not to mention she also produces. So I hope this moment of allowing talentless wannabes into the industry quickly disappears. Oh god and do not say todays stars sing better than the 90′s and early 00′s.

Why is everyone rocking the MJ one arm band look? Will-I-am and now this kid?!?!? Why can’t people get their own identities?

Thumb up Thumb down +12

Ladies and Gentlemen, music is officially dead.

Thumb up Thumb down +6

To all the idiot girls who support Justin Bieber – you are to blame for the death of music!

Thumb up Thumb down +5

This kid beat out Eminem… WTF! He should be nominated at the kids awards not the American Music Awards. No wonder I don’t listen to the radio or watch award shows anymore.. The popular stuff in the music industry is 90% crap these days

@Caitlyn: Golly, no! I didn’t mean these particular artists I mentioned are better that Christina or the others you mention. What I meant is that today’s kids, in general, are taking their music lessons more seriously, maybe thanks to JB, Miley, and the others. Or maybe it is the parents who are pushing kids to not drop out of piano lessons..? Who knows. Britney is a great dancer and a great ENTERTAINER. The best in the world probably. But she is no musician.

OH. MY. GOD. That was baaaaaad.

BIEBER IS THE BIGGER THAN MICHAEL JACKSON

Thumb up Thumb down +3

the winners were chosen by the fans.
if people think other artists deserved the award more than justin there was certainly ways for them to make it so… like.. vote perhaps?
he won for a reason.
just saying.

Thumb up Thumb down +3

American music award is a f**king joke!!!!!!!

Thumb up Thumb down +2

@Caitlyn:

sorry, i have to disagree with you there..hands down, xtina has a beautiful, one in a million kinda voice, but not Britney..she’s a great dancer, or she was,.great entertainer but she’s no musician..her voice always sound auto tuned and everybody knows the she queen of lip sync..i’m not a fan of all today’s young artists just FYI

Thumb up Thumb down -1

HE IS A KIIIIIDDDD!!! CHILDREEEEEEN!

Thumb up Thumb down -3

Y’all should be ashamed a kid has already achieved more in his life than you have and ever will. HOW ABOUT GETTING OFF YOUR BITTER FAAAAAT AS*SES AND ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE?

IM 5 YEARS OLDER THAN JUSTIN BIEBER & I CAN SEE HE’S A TALENTED PERFORMER & CHARISMATIC.

Rooting for you kiddo :)

Thumb up Thumb down +3

Leave Michael Jackson out of this.

Thumb up Thumb down +6

Oooh go home sweety .. Please, I’m begging you !

Thumb up Thumb down +4

Not a fan of this kid at all – however I did like when he thanked Michael Jackson, because he was the first one to be real about it – it is true (no matter what you may personally think of who MJ was) – he did influence a generation and almost all of the artists now imitate him in a way or another either in their videos, dancing or how they dress, but no one ever acknowledges it. 1 point to Bieber in that respect.
