Julia Roberts Wants to Rub Natalie Portman's Feet

Natalie Portman bundles up in black Edun coat while leaving the Good Morning America studio on Monday (November 29) in New York City.

The 29-year-old actress was on the morning talk show to promote her latest film Black Swan.

Julia Roberts recently shared her thoughts on watching Natalie in the Darren Aronofsky-directed drama.

“A performance like the one she delivers in Black Swan affirms that my professional admiration for her was well placed,” Julia wrote in an article for Variety.

“I am simply beaming with pride for her and want only to have her over to our home to hug her, tell her all the wondrous things we think of her, rub her weary feet and make her the biggest, most delicious dinner she could ever eat!”

“It is an interesting endeavor, watching a friend in a film. It is a risk to agree to write an article about a friend in a film. With someone like my subject today, Natalie Portman, it seemed worth the risk. She is always lovely, always watchable, always interesting. Then there is Black Swan. If only I could reach out from the page now and offer you a glass of terribly good wine and ask you to sit a while.

Natalie Portman in the new film by Darren Aronofsky is a ballerina. I cannot think of anything more accurate and complimentary to say about her in this role: She is a ballerina! One is so lost in the aching beauty, the elegant moves and the quiet mania of her pursuits, she, Natalie, ceases to exist.

It is an intense and at times brutal film to watch. There were times when I was watching through tiny cracks in my quaking fingers. But to see her in this role was worth the one night of tossing and turning.

I, as many, first fell deeply in love with Natalie in Luc Besson‘s film The Professional. A performance like the one she delivers in ‘Black Swan’ affirms that my professional admiration for her was well placed. Now as the years have kindly made her a li’l friend (that’s a joke for Natalie), I am simply beaming with pride for her and want only to have her over to our home to hug her, tell her all the wondrous things we think of her, rub her weary feet and make her the biggest, most delicious dinner she could ever eat!”

Each time I see Natalie Portman, I can’t help thinking she may be some Israeli secret agent.
I know this sounds completely paranoid LOL.
About Julia Roberts’ statements here, they are utterly ridiculous.
There are other ways to express one’s admiration.
No need to exaggerate this much.

I saw this movie at tiff. I found it boring, stupid and strange. The character she plays is a dull introvert w/ no charisma. Not such a stretch for Natalie. Mila Kunis was good, but ultimately the whole premise is stupid and bizarre – no surprise Rachel dumped her husband after this one. lol. You’ll find out, It’s not what you think it is – people think it’s this ‘Turning Point,’ kind of movie – it’s NOT. It’s more like some horror psycho drama, and the audience laughed at things that weren’t supposed to be funny.
.
Julia Roberts usually has some ulterior motive. I think she’s a bit bummed she’s at the end of her run as an actress, and objects to other actresses being so hugely popular, so she wants a hand in making one that’s not, into the next big thing…thing is, Portman’s been around almost as long as Roberts, and has not lit the world on fire.

There must be someone that is going to be nominated that Julia doesn’t want to win. Or it’s some kind of reverse psych to get herself at least a 2nd nomination for Eat Pray Love.

I find Julia’s remarks patronizing. She doesn’t actually address Natalie’s ACTING; I think she wants to keep that all for herself. The truth is, Natalie has achieved the breadth and intensity of work that Julia never has. Julia was the romcom queen for a while, but Natalie has taken risk after risk and shown keen intellect in her craft.

UGH, Julia – STFU.

I really want to see Black Swan. It looks fantastically creepy.

Oh Julia!! Her comments while meant to praise Portman, are ultimately about Julia. Just the same way she made Denzel Washington oscar all about her with the”Oh my God I love my life” comment.
Somethings just never change.

I think Julia feels identified with Natalie since Natalie has had nine boyfriends (we know) and Julia? how many?

what a nice tribute from Julia to Natalie…i knew Nat was poised to win an oscar eventually and i think this role will do it!

Natalie is so pretty @ 11/29/2010 at 3:12 pm

@Noemi:

Who are these 9 lucky guys ???
I’m sure she’s had MUCH more !!!
:-)

Sounds like you just don’t like NP so no matter what movie she was in you still would not like it You’re really the first person that had something negative to say about it that I have heard. So my guess is what of all the hyped TIFF shows that were out guessing VANISHING would be your favorite. That one only got so so reviews. Natalie has proven she is one force to be reckoned with she has sheer talent and that has been displayed more then once. Granted she doesn’t do movies that are all so wonderful to everyone but she does have her winners and this one is it for Natalie.

I think too many ppl are reading too much into Julia I’m no way a fan of hers but it could be that she admires Natalie enough. It’s a bit off the wall comment I just consider it a left handed comment.

Don’t you just love how Julia makes it ALL about her ALL the time. Denzel’s Oscar win that year was all about how lucky Julia was! Remember? Now Natalie’s performance is all about how impressed she made Julia – and also an opportunity to “brag” about how awesome a cook Julia is. I’m just shocked she didn’t use this public forum as yet another opportunity to brag about her “perfect marriage and husband.” *roll eyes* My gawd the woman has no personal awareness whatsoever with regard to her ego.

love julia and natalie :) @ 11/29/2010 at 3:24 pm

julia and natalie are actually really close.. they became friends after filming CLOSEr (lol) They have nicknames for eachother.. example: natalie’s is “little c*nt” .. im serious! haha

So Julia is proud of her friend and excited for her.. why do people need to make it so dramatic??

Julia and Natalie are close friends you fools. They’ve been close ever since they did Closer, and their nicknames for each other are C*nt and Lil’ C*nt (seriously). They are both incredibly close, so regardless of what you think about Julia, she’s probably very excited and happy for her friend that she always gushes about and goes to bat for.

@Marieme:
i’m not a NP fan nor a JR fan but you are such a ridiculous hater i don’t even know where to start. How is it Julia’s fault people were praisng her more than Denzel?( if it’s really what happened. i’m too young to remember this). Besides that Julia is trying to give a great praise and support to an old friend. How is that about herself and her ego? Her cook talents? you are ridiculous…

Julia thought that lame ass movie about the rich lady finding herself was her comeback movie . Lol
