Ben Affleck: Washington Post Op-Ed!

Ben Affleck shares his thoughts on how the U.S. can help secure Congo in a new op-ed for the Washington Post.

The 38-year-old actor wrote, “To secure the peace, we must continue to support local leaders and trust their ability to manage their own destiny. At the same time, we cannot refuse to recognize that the reinforcing cycle of poverty and corruption still rules and that many crimes are still committed with impunity. We need to also acknowledge that achieving stability within Congo’s borders requires understanding the dynamics outside those borders and throughout the Great Lakes region.”

thanks ben, i do appreciate really rich guys that are known and valued for their acting and good looks telling me what i should care about. thanks for reminding me that rich elites have my best interests in their wallets. ps. what troops would you send in? would your buds in hollywood support another war (with black people!)?

    Oh, STFU please Ben.
He acts all high and mighty like he’s some kind of academic or world leader… umm hello? You’re an actor (and a bad one at that).
Just go away and donate some of your HUGE fortune to charity instead of trying to act all smart and worldly and telling people what to do.

The problem with celebrities is their knowledge of issues are superficial. You think presidents and world leaders don’t know about them? There are more than meets the eye in solving these problems – like budget, policies, etc.

Btw, now I know why the sudden photo-ops with his family. He has something to promote.

  • Thai

He has become a joke of his former self. Besides, he’s better behind the camera than in front of it. As an actor, he’s zero. He sucks. He has no quality required by such a job.

    Ah I love Ben Affleck!
Such a gorgeous, sexy, classy & smart guy.
Well opinionated and rightly so, + his family is just beautiful.
Will definitely buy a ticket for his next movie

To all of you who doubt his knowledge on the Congo, you should do some research before making ignorant comments about Ben. He has been to this region about 5-10 times over the last few years. Ben is deeply invested in the Eastern Congo Initiative, and continues to make a difference there and around the globe.

In regards to his personal life, that is his sacred and private place. Let’s respect his family and move on from negative comments, etc… It’s so interesting, how our society gets caught up with the “FAMOUS”, world and what they are doing right and wrong, but forget about our own life and how we can invest in making things better for ourselves and the world. Reality check for all of us~ Time is slipping away, let’s open our eyes, and set our views into the right perspective.

Wish Ben much joy and love*

What a tool. Instead of talking c.r.a.p. and making himself a fool on TV, why doesn’t he go home and spends sometime with Jen and the girls?
