Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Share a Memorable Meal in Paris

By Peter Mikelbank

Nothing like a nice, romantic break, especially in the City of Love.

Amid a week of tandem promotional tours through Paris for her The Tourist and his Megamind, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie turned up for dinner Thursday evening at one of the world’s best eateries – Restaurant Guy Savoy, on the Rue Troyon – and stayed till nearly midnight to close the place.

The restaurant came highly praised, by none other than Jolie’s Changeling director. “They came, they said, because Clint Eastwood recommended the restaurant to her. He told her they’d enjoy themselves,” the legendary three-Michelin star chef, Guy Savoy, tells PEOPLE.

“Brad was very interested in the style of cuisine and very knowledgeable,” says Savoy, 53. “And I have to say that I took one look at her and I complimented him on his good taste. She is most beautiful in person.”

After a champagne toast, the couple’s meal began with soft-boiled eggs infused with truffles, followed by an artichoke soup with a glass of white wine.

For main dishes, “she took a lobster dish, and he ordered a cote de veau, with mashed potatoes seasoned with truffles.” Their wine accompaniment was a Bordeaux: a Paulliac from Chateau Lynch Bages.

“During a break, Brad visited in the kitchen,” says Savoy. There, the actor and the chef, in Savoy’s words, “hammered together” a conversation in English and French. Savoy says Pitt’s French is “surprisingly good.”

For dessert, the chef says, both chose a selection of cheeses. “Typically French,” Savoy says with a laugh.

I love Brad’s films. He has chosen magnificent films in his career.

Brad will be 47 this December you idiot, not 27. Since you are not a fan, Brad plays a character who lives in the 50s’ in this movie.

That’s a damn hot 46 year old.

I like the way you slap the trolls.

Finally Brad’s Oscar……………….

The image above and one below are two new images from Terrence Malick‘s long-awaited The Tree of Life, the trailer for which will be running in front of prints of Black Swan starting tomorrow. (Or tonight, if you’ve got midnight showings in your area.) If you’ve been keeping track, that makes a bare handful of images released over the past couple of years that we’ve been waiting for the film to be finished and hit theaters. Yes, we’ll see the trailer shortly, but in the meantime we’ll take what we can get. The debut of new material from Terrence Malick is an event.

Check out the other image below, along with some information about the trailer to tide you over until the online version arrives.

The LA Times has the images and info, and says that “judging by the small amount of footage we saw today, Malick has created a mystical, rich and satisfying film.” That’s a massive assumption of course, and the paper has a reservation or two, but overall the impression seems to be that the trailer plays well, and I’ll take that for now.

Mega cast turn hero genre on its ear

With Brad Pitt, too, McGrath would adopt an unconventional approach. He likes to use a rock ‘n’ roll analogy when describing the two characters at the heart of the film, Megamind and Metro Man.

“Brad’s character is Elvis Presley compared to Will’s, who is more like Alice Cooper,” he smiles.

And when Pitt came into the recording booth, at first the actor struggled to let loose. But then they came up with a very rock star idea that unlocked the character.

“It’s great when you get the actors into a physical place,” says McGrath. “And with Brad his character, Metro Man, is more like Elvis. When he first arrived it felt like he wasn’t getting it and he had to stand behind this mic in a booth.

“And then we decided to try it with a hand-held mic and we got it and he grabbed that and started walking around the studio, doing his lines, and he really got into it because you can be physical in that way. And for him that was the key.

“There is something about an actor moving around when they are doing the character and it’s how their voice, their presence, their timing, is affected by it. And each actor has their own way of approaching it.”

Pitt was starring alongside established comedic actors and he more than held his own.

“Brad has a great voice and he is very funny,” he says. “We knew we wanted comedians because that’s how we like to work – work-shopping the story, as opposed to live action where you develop a script for several years and then you shoot. We’re shooting and developing the script at the same time, so for me it’s really relying on Will and Tina and what they bring to it with their improvisation, and also Brad.

“In fact, Brad was really great. We pitched the idea of playing this hero to him and he just had a lot of fun with it and brought a lot to it.”
