Jessica Simpson is on track to build a $1 billion fashion empire. WWD reports all of her shoes, accessories, denim, swimwear, watches, and fragrances have rung up $750 million this year!
“She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her,” said Vince Camuto, founder and CEO of Camuto Group, which is the brand’s master licensee. “People like her. People look at her as a style icon.”
Jess will also be launching a contemporary sportswear line in Fall 2011. Said the 30-year-old fashion icon, “This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun.”
Last month, Jessica got engaged to former pro football player Eric Johnson.

I think they’re referring to revenue is almost $1B. This isn’t the profit the company made this year, just the total value of merchandise sold. Burberry revenue is around $2B but profits are only about $15M

The article isn’t saying that Jess is worth 1B, it’s saying that revenue (total amount sold) from her business is nearing that amount. Like @jess pointed out, that is not profit. Take away cost of operations and production, then u get the profit amount. And that has to be divided between a number of people (shareholders). She’s the face and a shareholder but nobody know if she’s the majority shareholder.
—That being said, congrats to her. If she can pull it off, why hate?! You know you’d take the money gladly if something of yours was selling, so stop w/ the hipocrisy. She’s earning her $ legitimately: created a business and it’s working, that’s the hope of all entrepreneurs, so I don’t see why some think she should give it up!
Oh and Jessica, please don’t make the same mistake twice and DO get a prenup this time around. Apparently her friends are suspicioius of the guy, they tink he’s only after the $ and lifestyle – and I believe it too.

For some of the dumb poster on here. The article is not saying she is worth almost one billion, just that there where sales of almost one billion. big difference. But she is probably worth $30 to $60 million. Not to bad.

I think @Jess meant “the total value of materials sold” for this year. She doesn’t mean from inception to date. Well, a lot of her stuff is really attractive and good enough quality. so it gives ppl a high-mid range selection at a more affordable price. good design, good pricing and a face that a lot of people don’t mind. They don’t actually have to care about her, so long as they don’t hate her.
