OlderCarey Mulligan Covers 'Elle UK' January 2011
Carey Mulligan is looking lovely on the cover of Elle UK‘s January 2011 issue, on newsstands Thursday (December 9).
Here’s what the 25-year-old Never Let Me Go actress had to share:
On feeling sexy: “‘I’ve never felt like a sexy person… I’ve always felt like a sensible person. I’ve always felt absurd wearing anything revealing.”
On being encouraged to have Botox: “So I can’t move my face? Isn’t that the antithesis of what I’m trying to do as an actress? Only in LA would someone try and give you Botox when you’re 25 years old.”
On body image: “I’m not trying to sell myself as a visual. I’m selling my willingness to play a part really well. If your body doesn’t look normal, how can you convey normal people, how can you be relatable?”
On ex Shia LaBeouf: “I always wanted to work with him, above and beyond anything else, because I thought he was so amazing in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.”

Love Carey! She was amazing in An Education and Never Let Me Go. She reminds me of a young Kate Winslet. She’s so talented. I’m so looking forward to seeing more work from her.
Someone in Hollywood that understands you don’t have to flaunt your body or plasticize yourself to do great work. Nice!

I really like Carey but I do think that this cover makes her look older than she is, it almost looks like she has grey hair! V. weird, maybe it looks better in real life though because Carey sure doesn’t look that old.
I like Carey and she seems sweet, but she always looks scared/uncomfortable on the red carpet. But maybe with more experience she’ll get more comfortable.
Btw bad choice of cover, yes she does look nice but she looks like a nice 40yr old. She has an old retro style so she needs to find a way to make it more younger looking cos most of the time it really ages her.
