Natalie Portman: Vogue Cover Spread!

Natalie Portman: Vogue Cover Spread!

Natalie Portman graces the January 2011 cover spread for Vogue, on stands nationwide December 21st.

Here’s what the 29-year-old Black Swan actress shared:

On what she orders during her interview: A vegetarian at home and a vegan when out, she orders a thoroughly eccentric meal: field greens followed by a soft pretzel with mustard, and an elderflower spritzer. She defends herself: “I swear, I eat. I ate a bagel an hour ago. I consume my own weight in hummus every day. I cook a lot, and I even do vegan baking.”

On being in favor of vulgar: “There’s a difference between being in a bra and underpants as an object on a men’s-magazine cover and playing yourself—a woman with desires and needs who loves and laughs with her friends—in a bra and underpants. You become an object if you simply put it out there. Most movies are made by men, it’s totally natural that they’re going to present their worldview, so we’re trying to find more women who are writers and directors who are expressing their worldview. Did you see Tiny Furniture? Lena Dunham wrote, directed, and starred in it; she’s 23, and it is just amazing. She walks around in her underwear for the whole movie; it’s harsh. She’s the subject, she’s not the object, and it’s beautiful—that’s the kind of thing we need more of.”

UPDATE: Nat picked up a Golden Globe nomination — Best Actress (Drama) for Black Swan. She shared, “I’m very honored by the HFPA nomination, and to be included in this group of actresses I so admire. The experience of filming Black Swan with [director] Darren Aronofsky and our incredible crew is already the most fulfilling experience of my career. The audience appreciation of the film is only furthering how grateful and proud I am to be part of the film.”

The pictures are beautiful, but the cover is really strange, with her arm up like that, all dead looking.

@um:
vegetarians eat eggs and dairy. vegans don’t eat any animal products.

In recent years, the Oscars has become like a national election, complete with heavy campaigning and propaganda.
Natalie is good in the movie but I don’t think she gave the best performance this year. Kudos though for the producers making sure she wins but it doesn’t change my opinion.
To me, Nicole Kidman gave the best performance in Rabbit Hole bar none.

In the cover photo she looks like she fell asleep on her hand!

sorry guys but she is boring .

Thumb up Thumb down +5

She’s very pretty and very talented. But she seems so uptight. Not hating just an observation..

Thumb up Thumb down +2

Wouldn’t it be way easier to be vegan at home and vegetarian when she goes out? It’s so hard to find vegan food in restaurants. I wonder if VF got it mixed up.

I like the cover. pretty
but I dont agree with her. you’re always an object when you’re naked.

@Dexter’s girlfriend: Yeah I’m going to agree. I like her. She’s GORGEOUS! But, I’m a little tired of seeing everyone in their underwear. At this point…it’s all the same.

Love her

Is anyone else getting really tired of hearing about her? I used to have a lot of respect for her, but now she wants to go parading around in her skivvies and dressing it up as art. Why doesn’t she just admit to herself that it’s all the same objectification? She just wants that kind of attention, like all the rest. She just tries to put herself above everyone else by offering this defense.

She disapointed me with her role in Closer. That scene where she opens her legs wide and pulls her thong to show Clive Owen her vulv@, and then she stands up and bends over to show him her @sshole.
I don’t care if it’s for your so called ‘art’, no classy self respecting woman should do that, ever.

Thumb up Thumb down +2

Nicole Kidman deserves to win and Oscar.

@oy
No..I do that as well.. when I go out I eat vegan. When you eat out you hardly ever know the origins of your meal, which means you also dont know if those are happy chick eggs you’re eating, or sad ‘ I’m spending all my life in a tiny cage being fed meds and have never seen a dip of sunlight in my life’ chick eggs.

@From Paris with love:
You DO know that was a movie right? :D

Thumb up Thumb down +3

Riiight Natalie…I’m sure you wearing that thong in the “Your Highness” trailer wasn’t you being a sex object, it was some deep, profound artistic statement, right? And I’m sure your role in the new Ashton Kutcher movie is a profound commentary on women in society?

Puh-leez. I have no problem whatsoever with nudity, or fun, silly movies; what I have a problem with is this bish thinks she’s so above it all. She’s pretty, but what a hypocrite.

She is one of the few young actresses who have that Old Hollywood glamour about them, they just look like they’re from another era. Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johnason and Drew Barrymore are the other ones.
@ From Paris with Love
Natalie filmed nude scenes, but she wanted them left out of the movie and the extras so the director did. She didn’t show anything, she was not nude in Closer. That doesn’t make her classy? Hmm…

Thumb up Thumb down 0

she is so beautiful, but I do not know why I found him a little sad for some time i hope everything goes well for her.

Thumb up Thumb down -1

shes a b— and a big cry baby and shes jealous of mila kunis i hope she looses, and shes freaking ugly she gets uglier everyday she looks gross in Vogue and on the cover she looks like shes 45 years old ugh cant stand to look at her anymore!
