Willow Smith: 'Whip My Hair' Behind the Scenes!

Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Willow Smith‘s video for her smash hit “Whip My Hair“!

The clip features the 10-year-old singer getting a blinged-out manicure, busting a few dance moves off camera, and interviews with her dad Will, mom Jada, and older brother Jaden.

“What separates Willow from everybody else, she’s an individual. She’s totally different,” Jay Brown, co-founder of Roc Nation, says in the video.

“She doesn’t mind being different. She doesn’t mind being free,” he added.

“All right warriorettes. It’s a wrap. Two snaps and a W!” Willow says at the end.

What seperates Willow from the rest of us? her parents money! I really feel badly for kids who are being sold this crap.

# 2

honestly, this girl needs to just go back to the sandbox, play with her barbie dolls, and use world like “cooties” instead of “swag.” your childhood is a precious time for exploring, pretending, and growing…enjoy every moment of it.

If that song at end the next single shes going to blow up cause thats a hit and its less annoying… although I liked the first song.

Of course she doesn’t mind being different, because her parents are pop stars with money and she doesn’t have to face a full school yard of mean kids like the rest of us coming from regular families..

Not hating on a 10 year old, but the song this kid sings is literally one of the most ANNOYING songs I’ve ever heard. It sounds just like a mosquito buzzing around your head. Basically she sings I whip my hair like 50 times in a row.

she looks like her dad

Essa garota é totalmente sem noção. Ridicula!!!

In 10 years, she is going to do something bad and blame her parents for not letting her have a childhood!

@BaBy Perfume: She doesn’t go to a proper school at all … which is why she is 10 and still can’t read properly … but hey, she has ‘swag’ … total child abuse but what do you expect from a couple of Scieno freaks really?

WEIRD WILLOW …SAD FOR THIS AGE TO BE LIKE THAT !!

Ajao Adeoluwa @ 12/18/2010 at 9:22 am

@rhonda: stop hating

What is so “individual” or inspiring about a cute kid wearing colorful, punky, futuristic cloths? This look has been done many times by different artists in the last 40 years. Being rebellious in class (as this video portrays) is not new or cool. There is nothing poignant about the song and so far I do not see a young Michael Jackson in Willow, just a little girl who likes to play dress up and be the center of attention. Here parents you guide Willow to do things with more depth.

ew, go pick up cotton!

It’s Jada’s fault.

DarkEmoress @ 12/18/2010 at 11:10 am

Since the release of this song (which I love btw) there has been non stop bashing of this little girl. Ok, so you are all so concerned with her not going to school and instead being tutored, yet many parents homeschool their kids The us education system doesn’t seem to help most inner city kids achieve the reading skills they should have at their grade level. Please concern yourself with those needy kids instead of this rich one.

how do u know she can’t read she has a private tutor on set so stop hating on a 10 year old

TEAM WILLOW…

ALL YOU ADULTS OUT THERE MAKING THESE RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT A LITTLE GIRLS WHO WANTS TO SING AND DANCE..ITS PATHETIC. YOU DONT KNOW THIS CHILD NOR HER FAMILY NOR FAMILY LIFE. YOU PROBABLY DONT HAVE CHILDREN AND UPSET ABOUT IT… WELL, TALKING **** ABOUT A CHILD WEATHER SHE BE FAMOUS HAVE FAMOUS PARENTS ISNT GONNA MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER THAN HERS…ITS JUST PITTYFUL AND SAYS MORE ABOUT YOU THEN WHAT IT IS YOUR SAYING ABOUT HER OR HER PARENTS CHOICES FOR HER . GET OVER YOURSELVES… THAT LITTLE GIRL ROCKS AND I HOPE ALL HER DREAMS COME TRUE…TEAM WILLOW

@Mel Gibson:
It’s ignorance like this that makes this damn world so corrupt.

What a lightning rod she’s become.
She’s surely among the Chosen-Ones.

@Mychelle: calm down. no one is hating. we are just commenting on what we’ve seen time and time again. little girl has some talent. parents want to cultivate it, and $$$. kid grows up and is used to having his or her own rules and being their own boss. kid gets into some trouble. kid blames parents for “no childhood”

so you too should go back to your sandbox and monkey bars and enjoy your childhood instead of being on an internet gossip site. kthanks.

Let me at her….. I will whip her hair back and forth for putting this song out! It’s like a skipping record…

Maybe her parents could have afforded a little more creativity in the lyrics. I am sure Will has buddies that could have made the song a little more interesting……

I like the song. It is catchy. I make music and to have a simple song take off like that is a blessing. Sure her exposure was based on her parents, however how many of us have got a job based on a referral? Same thing, larger scale.

@Mychelle:
That girl needs to stay in school and learn to be humble , she is not good and would not be there if it wernt for her ” out of touch sell out parents ” . Why would they even want their child to be in that business anyway it is so dirty and ruthless , The father is talented and original the wife and kids need a reality check …sorry the truth hurts PAUL from 61st and Race where we keep it real up in the feel
