Gwyneth Paltrow & Sophia Bush: Relatives of Shooting Victims

Gwyneth Paltrow and Sophia Bush have a direct connection to the tragic Arizona shooting that left U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition.

Gwyneth is a cousin of Rep. Giffords, but has never had the chance to meet her.

She told ET in a statement, “Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting congresswoman Giffords, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family as well as the other victims of this horrible act of senseless violence.”

Sophia tweeted that she is the second cousin of Christina Green, the 9-year-old girl who was killed during the tragedy.

“There are no words to explain what my cousin’s family is going through in Arizona. How can this be? Violence is never the answer,” Sophia said.

We send our prayers to all those affected by the tragic event.

Both Gwyneth and Gabrielle are Jewish, so I guess it’s a small community. Hopefully the two will meet now, provided Gabrielle pulls through.

Thoughts and prayers to the victims of this tragedy.

I blame Sarah bimbo Palin. She put an hex on Mz Gifford; remember she told her followers to reload and go after Gifford.

Our politicians push our buttons and using demagoguery, pit us against one another, often inciting great violence, historically, all part of the political process, all part of the game. Then they pass stiff, draconian laws to protect us from ourselves and then start in on a whole new round, all over again.. It is said that we get the government we deserve.

The death of Christina Green, all of 9, and who was just elected to student council at school, is so sad, I’m sure her relatives must be particularly gripped in grief.

There’s no shortage of times that I’ve spouted off about this stuff, how it’s programmed by corporate media, particularly G.E.:

I proposed a Truth Commission to look at this and what I got from here for that, was many negative comment ratings, that vicious circle of hate.

My thoughts are with them, but for Sophia to be posting anything.. you wouldnt have known it was her cousin unless this didnt happen. She is your cousin, yet you spent NO time with her and never made any chance to contact them AT ALL.
You only say crap when it brings publicity to you.
    Selfish Sophia, very selfish.

    Amy Says:

    @lola:

It was actually Gwyneth that has never met her cousin. I don’t think Gwyneth Paltrow needs the publicity…

    dense Says:

Why make a statement about your relations in time of tragedy especially if you have never even met them. Just privately reach out to the family, but don’t be tweeting and make public statements, it’s in bad taste. I’m jus sayin

    lola Says:

At Amy, actually, Sophia spends NO TIME with anyone in her family but her Mother and Father. She hasnt even seen her cousin, it is a shame with what happened, but to post something publicly about it, is just selfish. She spends zero time with anyone in her family. She spends time with her friends and Austin that is it. I dont even think she visited that child once in her life.
Let’s see what good can come out of this. Let’s see if the parents start a fundraiser and stuff to help out victims of gun violence and lets see what Sophia will do then… NOTHING.

@dense: Why not make a statement? Its a sign of respect. If she didn’t people would say she didn’t care. Quit bickering this isn’t about you. RIP to those who lost their lives. Prayers to their families.

    D Says:

@lola: How do you know shes has never meet that family. Do you stalk her and fallow her? Maybe she didn’t want to share to the world that she has family in Arizona, do you think that family wanted people to know, Hey i am related to the famous Sophia bush please come and stalk us like you do to her, please come and ask a million questions about her. How do you know that they never talked or met, do you know that family personally to know these things. You tell people that she’s never meet them or that yes her father and mother have but not her. You tell people that she spends all her time with her friends and Austin. I guess that means you do stalk her, that must mean even though you talk **** about her you must deep down really really like her. People like you are so stupid, you know nothing yet you open your mouth and you say stuff that is untrue, you know nothing about this, Because the truth is you do not know if they never meet, the truth is you dont know if they kept in contact, the truth is you know nothing. You say stuff that is untrue. Now you can comment back call me a ***** say mean things to me i could care less, if she wanted say her family had just lost there child she did so what, How is all that selfish? And i do agree with what dense said it is bad taste that she made a statement about your relations in time of tragedy. But the truth is nobody really knows if Sophia bush ever meet her family, because we do not know her personally and some have never meet her we where not there all her life or close friends with her. Gwyneth Paltrow said to Et that she has never meet that relative yet seds her condolences. Yet i never knew that Gwyneth was related to Gabrielle Giffords. If Sophia bush Did the same and said the same to ET i am sure you would have said the same thing you said her about Sophia. I may be waisting my time here, you probably could care less with what i have to say. but to me that doesn’t care the truth is i am a person, who doesn’t like the false facts and the stupid comments that you make. Now you can ***** me out and tell me how stupid i am and how right you are. i will read it and then move on with my life. Thank you for reading and i could careless if anybody else thinks i am being over dramatic. its the way of life and the way i think. move one. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this Tragedy. violence is not the answer. May God be with the nine year that was killed. and may he be with everyone else in this tragedy.

“From a moral viewpoint Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is the victim of demagogues such as Glenn Beck and his allies at Fox News and in the Tea Party Movement. This is not about legal liability but about moral culpability. This is about a nation that has lost its moral compass.
Some of us … have been warning about this dangerous trend for several years. … We blame right-wing demagogues like Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter and a culture that tolerates their vicious targeting of scapegoats.

Now the shootings have created a new word floating across cyberspace: “becking.” To be “becked” is to be held up as such an evil and destructive person that someone, somewhere, will interpret it as a call to eliminate that problem through violence”

I truly do not understand the need for these celebrities and I use the term loosely with Ms. Bush releasing statements and publicizing their family (twice removed) connections in the wake of this tragedy. It completely takes away from all victims involved. Shame on the media for putting so much emphasis on these celebrity connections.

What can you expect in a country, where everyone is entitled to get a gun – and care it?
I can’t understand how can someone shoot a little girl. How can you shoot at people you never met before? What kind of statement is that? And who gives a licensed gun to a crazy person like this? How can you be so mad at the world with only 22 years old?
This guy deserves everything that is gonna happen to him, maybe even more.

Why Gwennith Palthrow and Sophie Bush step up to the plate now when they could have before…all their lives.
Stop it!! Yes we know you need your movies to be BO Hits but mean what you say.. ACK.. make me sick!!

Twitter? Really? Bet she never gave that little girl a DIME when she was alive but is trying to bring attention to her self in profiting from her death. They only people who should be getting sympathy is that little girl’s parents. Gwen is at least classy about it and the Rep is an adult.

The more the right-wing radio jerks deny responsibility for this kind of Second Amendment remedy, the more obvious it becomes.
Like Kennedy on KFI, who found this the appropriate occasion to mock and ridicule the sheriff of Pima County — an elected law enforcement executive who asked the nation for a moment of “soul-searching.”
Way to defend your paycheck at the expense of all decency, Kennedy!

    @offtheproperty:
Instead of offering their condolences, MORONS on here like this Lola psycho, who by the way way, clearly needs to see a shrink before she becomes any DUMBER than she already is, are b*tching at celebrities for no f*cking reason.
Seriously, you idiots need to wake the f*ck up. it because of imbeciles like you why there is so much hatred in this world. This tragedy could have been avoided if people were more nice to one another and were understanding to people’s differences and more accepting, instead of lashing out at others for no damnn reason. And then to criticize someone for supposedly not spending their tine with their families. Seriously whats it to you????? And I BARELY get to see my family either due to a billion reasons but that doesn”t mean I don’t care about my family and that I don’t love them any less because I DO. so you idiots need to get the f*ck off you high horse because I willing to bet that most of you barely see your family either, yet you feel the need to criticize others.
My heart goes out to Sophia, Gwen, their families, and anyone else who has been affected by this tragedy.
    MAY GOD BLESS YOU.
