Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley do their best to keep warm on the set of Gossip Girl on Monday (January 10) in New York City.
The 24-year-old actress carried a gorgeous quilted Chanel bag for the scenes she shot today on Park Avenue. Penn warmed up with a cup of coffee and a scarf!
Over the weekend, Leighton‘s latest movie, Country Strong, earned $7.6 million and debuted in sixth place at the box office.

7.6 million BO in the first weekend?! Wow, what a big flop. People who said The Tourist flopped should really think again.

It opened in only 1400 theaters (the standard is 3000) and had the second highest screenaverage. So it made pretty decent money and only cost 12,5 mil to make, no flop.
@Rainforest: While the other movies is like in 3000 theaters, Country Strong is in 1400.

So the movie wasn’t tops in the box office. She did a good job in the movie. Leighton fan for life :D

I was not only taking the BO into consideration, but also the horrible reviews, the 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, the 5,3 average on IMDB and people who watched the movie and said it was one of the worst movies ever. I even heard someone say that the movie was worse than watching a dog eat his own stuff. I’m not kidding. I wish I was.

I can speak and say it was a good movie. Even my friends who came with me who don’t like country music and could care less about any of the actors liked it. Give it a rest.

Good for you and your friend. I’m glad you enjoyed it and didn’t walk out the theater feeling like you wasted your money. But I was talking about the majority of the viewers and critics and they seem to think the movie sucks and I agree. I don’t hate country music. I have even sat trough Crazy Heart (and I must say CS is a rip-off).
I think critics hated it more than the people who’ve seen it. I read sites too. Ok I’m done :)
Critics loved Leighton regardless. Just like they do on Gossip Girl.

i agree w/ @ r. The link shows that even in all the bad reviews the critics still praise Leighton Meester’s supporting performance. yes, the movie is a flop in many ways. the studio seemed to hedge it’s bets hoping it would garner awards nominations…it’s only gotten one Golden Globe nom and I don’t see it getting any Oscar noms. but the people who benefit from this movie the most are Garett Hedlund and Leighton Meester. They’re the upcoming actors that were cast alongside an oscar-winning actress in solid supporting roles (cough, not just 6 min. in a movie, cough, Blake Lively in The Town). Even Paltrow gets to jumpstart a singing career out of this, which is really cool. It sucks for the studio’s, distributors…etc. But it’s great for the actors and their careers.
leighton and garrett are the best part of the movie. i believe she’s gonna be big with all the talent she got. and she’s really excellent actress.

and i like the red hat. it looks cute on her, i wish leighton meester would have been in more movie! she’s really great in country strong. i think i might become her new fan now. i’m impressed by her and garrett.

However, it’s important to note that due to Country Strong rather modest location count, it had the second highest per theater average among the top ten this weekend (1= The King’s Speech).

LOL. I knew the target audience for this movie (fly-over states and country fans”) would not get behind Gwyneth Paltrow as a country star.

Can’t wait for Gossip Girl to begin again!! ..although, honestly, I’m more looking forward to the Vampire Diaries. xD
