Rooney Mara Covers 'W Magazine' February 2011
Rooney Mara shows off her bloody fingers, neck tattoo, and facial piercings in the February 2011 inaugural ‘Movie Issue’ of W Magazine, on stands January 25th.
The 25-year-old actress has “Salander” tattooed across her chest (it’s the name of her character Lisbeth Salander from the big screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, out December 2011).
When asked about the audition process, Rooney shared, “They shot me in the subway in L.A. In full hair and makeup with a motorcycle. Everyday they had a new request. On a Monday morning, [director David Fincher] called me in, and I said, ‘what do you want me to do with my hair now?’ I was at the end of my rope. He told me I had the part. I hadn’t even read the script yet.”
Fincher added, “I wanted her from the beginning. Rooney maybe a trust-fund baby from football royalty but she’s level headed and hard working. It’s so odd how who people are comes out in auditions. We didn’t make it easy for Rooney and there was no way to dissuade her.”

FYI: Rooney is wearing a Burberry Prorsum leather jacket with Tawapa earrings.

just perfect!
Oh Cool, a cigaret.
Oh Cool, anorexic model again.
Oh cool, suggesting darkness (or something??)
Pffff…. seen this before.
Salander does look anorexic. Perfect!
I suppose you haven’t read the book, not have you seen the Swedish films.
I wish they would not try to copy Noomi Rapace frame by frame. She kind of looks like cheap copy of original Lisbeth. And that motorcycle picture… I can’t even. She looks very idiotic there. It’s like it’s Paris Hilton standing there and pretending to be all tough. For real ya’ll :)
Rooney Mara will be better than Noomi Rapace. This version seems to have a better crew, too.
Apparently you guys haven’t read the trilogy or you’d understand her look. She fits the role, in my mind, perfectly. I think she’ll be a great version of Lisbeth Salander…plus the amazing Daniel Craig is in it. Can’t Wait!
We get it, she’s rougher than Noomi but this is overkill. That cover is completely unattractive. This movie is going to suffer from inferiority complex, watch.
this is what’s wrong with society today
They are so trying to copy the original … very unattractive cover too, the sunken cheeks really don’t look good.
i was curious what david fincher meant by trust fund baby from football royalty. holy crap, her and her sister are loaded.
Bloodbuzz Ohio thinks Mara will be better than Rapace as Lisbeth. NOT. Keep dreaming. Guess you didn’t watch the ORIGINAL.
Rooney has a wonderful body. Noomi Rapace was average at best and the production of the original series was at best made for tv quality with a below average cast. The person that played Erika Berger just wanted to make my puke every time she was on screen.
Yikes, I’m not sure why they hardened Lisbeth up so much. It’s like they’re trying too hard to be different from the original film. Halfway through the first book now, and I think Noomi is much closer to my mental image of Lisbeth, based on the pictures.
The fact that the original mocies had actor that looked lire real people rather than HW cartoons made way more real and compelling. This is goign to be like the ususal HW version of anything, replace the original with better looking HW people and that’s it. Salanger was a girl with an awful past, not a Cavalli cover girl.
In my personal opinion this is how I imagined Lisbeth, I loved the originals and I’m from Sweden but I think I like the way she looks more, she fits the book description more than Noomi
there is no way this is gonna be better than the orginal!
Even if the swedish films wre good, I think this trilogy is going to be awesome!! David Fincher is a great director and Rooney Mara really fits the character!!!
Can’t wait to see it!!
She’s definitely got Lisbeth Salander’s look down, but the proof will be in the performance.
