Rooney Mara Covers 'W Magazine' February 2011

Rooney Mara shows off her bloody fingers, neck tattoo, and facial piercings in the February 2011 inaugural ‘Movie Issue’ of W Magazine, on stands January 25th.

The 25-year-old actress has “Salander” tattooed across her chest (it’s the name of her character Lisbeth Salander from the big screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, out December 2011).

When asked about the audition process, Rooney shared, “They shot me in the subway in L.A. In full hair and makeup with a motorcycle. Everyday they had a new request. On a Monday morning, [director David Fincher] called me in, and I said, ‘what do you want me to do with my hair now?’ I was at the end of my rope. He told me I had the part. I hadn’t even read the script yet.”

Fincher added, “I wanted her from the beginning. Rooney maybe a trust-fund baby from football royalty but she’s level headed and hard working. It’s so odd how who people are comes out in auditions. We didn’t make it easy for Rooney and there was no way to dissuade her.”

FYI: Rooney is wearing a Burberry Prorsum leather jacket with Tawapa earrings.

The books are poorly written rape fantasy.

    Riv Says:

Sorry, this trilogy did NOT need to be remade….and the first one already looks like its trying too hard….the originals were perfect…this “actress” doesn’t hold a candle to Noomi Rapace…I won’t even bother spending my time or money seeing it. I read the books… the original movies were dead on…these will just be a warmed up rehash of something already better done.

@Riv: I agree. The Swedish films were so good …. perfect, really. There was no need for this to be remade, reimagined, or rewhatever. I doubt they’ll capture lightning in a bottle twice.

@Riv: I don’t understand why they would need to hollywoodize it. It’s a swedish story isn’t it? I am not going to even waste my time with this movie.

    Perfect Says:

The pics that come with the interview show the perfect Lisbeth.
I liked the Swedish adaption a lot, but Noomi’s portrait was way too bad ass. She didn’t capture Lisbeth vulnerability at all. Even in the third part, being in hospital, just recovering from surgercy of removing a bullet in her head she was bad ass……
I hope Rooney will show the vulnerable side of Lisbeth too.

shite, in those pictures there’s represented everything that salander’s character stands against. not going to say more against it before seeing the films.

but really… that’s not rooney mara posing for the pictures as herself, she’s posing as lisbeth salander. and lisbeth is androgyn, violent, looks a bit anorexic etc. anything what you can imagine tortured and troubled human being looking like.

shut up about people’s weight, look, about what you think is “normal”… not everything in this world is perfectly fine and happy and movies should tell about reality, not just dreams and ideal situations. which means that actors in their roles don’t always look dreamy or how ideal people look like…. (IDEAL PEOPLE???)

    overrate Says:

Noomi was too old as Lisbeth!!!!!!!!! Lisbeth could pass for a teenager.
Noomi? To me she’s no different from a million other dull middle aged men.
    LOL

    Sabinal Says:

to have Salander as her main tattoo is disturbing. It’s like she thinks she will be a HW star from here thanks to the role and there are no guarantees. or she is over identifying.

    Ugliness at its best…

She is trying way too hard. She’s going to look back on these pics and think “what was I thinking?” she looks like a fool.

    Fincher Says:

If director David Fincher reads public opinions regarding Rooney so he must going to be disappointed as all call her a idiot looking one.

There are other boards where they the same about Rooney like here.
Fincher is perfectionist and when people do not agree with his choice for the first time so he must know there is a mistake, something wrong. he is perfectionist but did the opposite – wrong – as he took cute Rooney.

    Medici Says:

No, no, no! Only one person should be Lisbeth in a movie – Noomie Rapace, nobody else. Ronney Mara doesn’t look like Salander. She looks like girl, who wants be Salander. ;/

    @Sabinal:
the tattoo was just for the photoshoot….it wont be in the movie
