A.J. McLean has entered rehab for the third time.
The 33-year-old Backstreet Boys singer underwent treatment for substance abuse back in 2001 and 2002. TMZ reports that A.J.‘s struggle has been interfering with plans for BSB and New Kids on the Block‘s upcoming tour.
“For personal reasons, I’ve checked myself into a rehab clinic,” A.J. said in a statement (via People). “With 2011 being a busy year for Backstreet, I want to be healthy and perform and sing for people at my very best and happiest. None of this will affect our current tour plans and I look forward to seeing everyone really soon! Thank you for all of your support and respecting my family and friends privacy during this time.”

Proud of him for doing this. Good luck Alex! I don’t believe this has been interferring with tour plans though, he says so himself! besides I heard him on a radio show recently and he’s had plans to enter rehab for quite some time because he knew things had gotten out of control. I’m glad he decided to take care of this now before the tour. KTBSPA!
