Check out the just released trailer for The Son of No One, starring Katie Holmes and Channing Tatum!

Here’s the synopsis of the film, which will close the Sundance Film Festival:

Son of No One follows two friends (Tatum and Tracy Morgan) forced to face the consequences of a murder they committed — and got away with — 16 years earlier. Tatum‘s character Jonathan “Milk” White has gone on to a successful career with the police force and has a happy home life with his wife (Holmes) and child. Morgan‘s character, Vinnie has…gone the other way. When Milk is assigned to the precinct where he grew up, his decade-and-a-half-old secret threatens to tear apart his life and his family.”

I was looking forward to this movie, but based on the trailer–looks not so good…especially Katie. Why does she persist in using that annoying, whiny voice?

  • AdeleBluebird

SMH at this film tsk tsk

  • loLz

I would be in heels all the time if I were Katie. Damn, she’s got some major calfs!

  • lucy

ok, i will admit that this film sounds interesting. katie holmes, however, i’m not sure about

  • Blah

Katie is a decent actress and she is still quite beautiful. I don’t understand why everyone picks on her looks and acting ability these days.

after Step 1 (&2) I thought I would be watching every movie that Channing is in.. but I just realized that the last movie I saw was Stop-Loss. Maybe I’ll watch The Dilemma but I don’t think I’ll be watching this one.

  • http://Tj Sligo ^_^ cute

    Heheheh scary

Katie is looking good here !!
Long hair suits her well and reminds me of her Joey Potter days.
She also has the best cheekbones in the industry.
However, her lop-sided mouth expressions are getting on my nerves.
I can’t believe I once thought it looked cute …

Although Im a fan of Channing’s; I sometimes “too buff” to take him seriously. He kinda just sticks out. He should trim down to his “A Guide to…” weight for dramas, then buff up again for his action films – imo!

  • kizbit

Wow! Looks good. All those great actors. And then Katie shows up. :(

  • Iffy Miffy

Why is Holmes’ name even in the title when it’s obvious she has a tiny, tiny part?! In fact, on IMDb it clearly says – The Son of No One starring – Channing Tatum, Al Pacino and Juliette Binoche?!!!! Come on Jared! You are ditching actors like Pacino and Binoche for Holmes?! WTF?!

  • joel

She will spoil this movie. She is the most annoying actress of all time. But I bet it was “magical” for her to film this movie. Like always

  • Jackie

Katie is nothing more than the whiny wife in a few scenes. She can’t handle anything more than that. Katie is just a pathetic actress and all she’s good for is wife roles.

  • Romeo

It’s simply because of who she’s married to, #6.

  • lw

Channing Tatum is in every movie! not that i’m complaining, just want to know if he’s gonna be nekkid in the movie…??

Not too many younger actors can hold the screen with Pacino, especially not Katie Holmes.

Sundance 2011 can chalk up its first bomb.

Dito Montiel’s crime drama The Son of No One had its first screening for press and industry at noon Monday at the Yarrow Hotel Theatre ahead of its closing-night premiere at the Eccles Theatre on Friday. Anticipation was high for the new work from the writer-director of the award-winning 2006 Sundance crime drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. With No One, Montiel was returning with another gritty New York-set feature and a high-profile cast: Al Pacino, Channing Tatum, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Katie Holmes.

Though the theater wasn’t full, the room was crowded with acquisitions execs wanting an early look at the film. Reps from Samuel Goldwyn, Paramount, Summit, the Weinstein Co., Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group, IFC Films, Morgan Creek, Screen Media, Miramax and Relativity made it into the theater by the film’s opening credits.

Some of them, however, were gone well before the end credits. In addition, enough regular audience members left early for one observer to describe it as an “exodus.”

The negative response went beyond the walkouts. One viewer’s attempt to begin applause after the lights came up drew almost no takers.

None of this is to say that the film won’t find a buyer with a proposal for a strategic plan that it believes will make it work in the marketplace. As Sundance veterans know, plenty of films with lukewarm responses go on to find buyers and audiences, especially genre films featuring big stars. And with the barnstorming UTA team repping the sale (along with WME and Cassian Elwes, who’s also got two sales under his belt thus far), the possibilities are far from scuttled.

But as of the first viewing, that work just got a lot harder.
