I like most of Natalie’s movies (strange, seeing as I find her rather pretentious) but I was totally put off by this one because of Ashton. I like him but I can’t bare to watch him. He’s annoying and I can’t take his movies seriously, even when it’s comedy.

Romantic comedies are a big money grabber, both for the actors and at the box office.

What is worth noting about this film is that R Rated RomComs are on the decline and the studio predicted a flop. In fact, they didn’t send out a lot of the pre release press that they might for a movie they expect to make a big hit. This movie is doing surprisingly well, which is great for Natalie because she’s producer and star.

@Kate:

Actually romantic comedies have taken a bad rap lately and the only redeeming feature for making them is that they are relatively cheaper to make than other types so they don’t have to make a ton of money to be successful which makes this one doubly more successful. As for Ashton; not a fan, but every dog should have his day especially when considering his abysmal track record. But I shudder to think what the near future holds now that he is in part a main factor for this ‘hit’.
