Drake: Starring in 'Arbitrage' with Al Pacino?

Drake is in talks to join the financial thriller Arbitrage, The Wrap reports.

The 24-year-old Canadian rapper is in negotiations to make his second appearance on the big screen. Drake previously had a small role in the 2007 drama Charlie Bartlett and starred in the TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Arbitrage “follows which follows a hedge fund magnate who is in over his head and desperate to complete the sale of his shady trading empire to a major bank before his fraud is revealed. But an unexpected, bloody error forces him to turn to the most unlikely corner for help in protecting him from rivals who want to bring him down.”

The indie film also stars Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon, and Eva Green.

    Drake is pretty ugly. I mean he looks like Eeyore but I still find myself attracted to him because he seems like such a nice person. I mean a rapper that smiles and doesn’t act like he’s some thug or however the CEO’s behind them want them to act. He seems like a genuinely lovely person and to top it off he makes good music I like listening to. I really hope he makes it really big and isn’t some “few hits” wonder.

    I don’t like it. I like for movie stars to be stars, people who are in the business, studying and acting in local plays. This is slap in the face to all those hopefuls attending The Acting Studio, etc, who can’t get work. Not just him, but Beyonce, Ludacris, Britney and 50 Cent too. There are other black actors who can portray gangsters and what not. Hollywood is just a money machine and they are using recognizable faces to make money, and the end product is suffering in the long run.

    I knew that Drake was going to start doing movies. Next up, Nikki Manij

    @hate it: Well he did start off acting didn’t he….? Plus studying drama or whatever doesn’t mean you can act or “deserve” something more than someone who didn’t go that path. I think there is more to it than nepotism.
    And hold up, who said anything about what character he would be playing. 1. He’s not even black and 2. Why would you straight away assume he would be playing the role of a gangster? I mean really?

    Starring with Pacino? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of his league.

    He started off acting, thats how he got all these opportunities. Honestly he is a terrible rapper. He should build his career this way. I love singing but my voice is terrible. I don’t try to make it a career.

  • Olga

    @BEAN: he’s not the prettiest but I wouldn’t say he’s ugly.

  • Alyssa

    I think this is true. I remember him talking in an interview about meeting with Pacino.

  • I call it mañana

    Excuse me, but don’t people realize that he was an actor way before he even started rapping. I personally like Drake as a rapper better, but I do enjoy watching him act as well. I think he’s pretty good at acting too. He may not be a Will Smith or Denzel Washington, but he’s showing potential :)

  • whatever

    He’s ugly, I don’t find anything attractive about him at all.
    He can’t even act and he definitely can’t rap or sing.
    Go back to school Drake.

  • Sara

    Um Drake isn’t a music star turned actor. He’ s an actor turned movie star. He was on Degrassi for YEARS

  • Rosa

    Wheelchair Jimmy Brooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jokergurl

    Just, no, this guy can not hold the screen with Pacino. Besides I hated Degrassi.

  • skskj

    @Impulse Magazine: you’re an idiot. Drake was on degrassi for years before he started rapping and nicki minaj also went to LaGuardia as an acting major so don’t act like they just woke up and decided to try to act. They’re actually the few rappers that have had previous training

  • BriCe

    LOL @ the people that thought Drake was a musician turned actor. I’m looking forward to this movie cuz he did ok on degrassi and this is a very good opportunity for him. And @ BEAN he’s not the hottest guy out there but I won’t say that he’s ugly….

  • Henriette

    His hairline always mesmerizes me. How’s it possible to be that straight across? I don’t get it. Someone: please explain!

  • Garner

    They should use Marc Anthony for a change Puerto Ricans make the best gangsters of all. Oops, forgot, Marc looks to much like a lizard.

  • Halli

    @Henriette:

    Its not his natural hairline. Its buzzed and trimmed to make it look very straight. Lots of styling black guys prefer this neat hairline, even President Barack Obama has a similar hair cut.
