Shiloh Fernandez Talks Missing Out on 'Twilight' Role

Shiloh Fernandez Talks Missing Out on 'Twilight' Role

Shiloh Fernandez shows off his toned torso in an unbuttoned shirt in this spread for Vman magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands on Thursday (February 10).

Here’s what the 25-year-old Red Riding Hood actor had to share:

On missing out on the role of Edward Cullen: “No one had any idea what Twilight would become. At the time, it was just another audition. I didn’t realize I was missing out on stardom and giant paychecks. Now, looking back on it, I certainly wouldn’t have been mentally stable enough to deal with all that. Lucky for me, not getting that part led to other work that was a much better fit for me.”

On his experience working on Red Riding Hood: “To be given this great part with this very complicated backstory is such a learning experience. And [director Catherine Hardwicke] has created this world that’s so detailed and so beautiful. I loved being a part of it.”

On his ultimate aspirations: “I want to work and I want to become the best actor that I can be. But I also want to be a happy, interesting person. It’s hard to be an interesting person if you spend all your time on a set. That isn’t the real world. You’ve got to have a good life outside of all that. You’ve got to spend time in places where there’s not always someone on standby to bring you a glass of water.”

FYI: Shiloh is wearing Diesel and Dior Homme.

I’m not a big fan of Pattinson but I think Pattinson made the role of Edward Cullen big… I’m just not sure this guy would’ve done the same job by looking at these pictures.

he’s pretty cute. Robert is edward for me definitely, but I can see how he was a finalist for the part.

he’s probably saying he’s glad he didn’t get the part because now he’s pissed at himself that he missed out on something so big.

no hate, just saying. i’d be pissed if i was an actor and missed out on all that money and fame that twilight brought.

I think he’s trying to just look at the bright side of things for missing out on the role of a lifetime more than anything. He has a cool name and good hair. lol

Not a fan of Twilight at all so when Iooked at him I was very happy he’s not Sparkly… THEN I read he’s in Red Riding Hood directed by Catherine and, frankly, she’s not good, I watched Twilight and the whole thing was bad… I love Lords of Dogtown and Thirteen so maybe she sould stick to these sort of films… well, Amanda Seyfried’s in it too and I like her a lot, so I’m hoping it’ll be a success!

He needs to pull up his pants and put his pubes away!

What else is he supposed to say lol I’m sure looking back he wished he got it but maybe it wasnt the right time for him. Despite how succesful Twilight is; I think even Rob is a bit peeved cos no matter what he does he will forever be Edward “Glitter” Cullen.
However looking at Red Riding Hood you can tell theyve taken the “twilight” route which is a shame cos the film could have been interesting.

    Britt Says:

Pull up your pants man! If your pubic hair is making an apperance then your pants are too low.

Good for him, Shiloh’s a good actor and I’m glad he’s not a part of that Twilight circus.

    Caring Kate Says:

Um, guys who use shots like these seem too desperate and maybe, I’m just say’in, a bit dense between the ears? He’s definitely limiting his fan base this way.

    wow reallly Says:

not really a twilight fan (leave that to the young ones) but i can see him as edward. I think he makes edward a little sexier.

  18. 18
    dt Says:

What’s dense is being so sensitive as to imagine seeing any “shots” in a pretty diplomatic non-threatening response.

    julitrevino Says:

He should be glad he missed out on the part. Robert Pattinson will forever be known as Edward Cullen, and it’ll be incredibly difficult for him to be seen as anything else when the series finishes.

    Krista Says:

When I read the Twilight books before the movie was ever out, Shiloh was what I had pictured as Edward. Pattison RUINED the movies for me and made a HORRIBLE Edward. Shiloh would have been sooo perfect beyond words for Edward. SO PERFECT!!!! I am very disappointed to hear that he COULD have been Edward. What a mistake that was. Tall, Dark, Handsome and Mysterious!

    Kim Says:

I can’t picture this guy as a redhead..I’m seriously glad he wasn’t Edward Cullen. If anyone shouldn’t have been cast in that movie it was Kristen Stewart! For everyone commenting on the photos – magazine photoshoots have photographers/stylists telling him what to do. It’s not like HE would’ve made the choice to have his pants that low.
