Darren Criss suits up for the cover of Da Man‘s February/March issue.
Here’s what the 23-year-old singer and Glee star had to share with the mag’s Oliver Singer:
On if he has a lot in common with his character Blaine: “Yes, actually. I have felt very fortunate to have the kind of support I did while growing up, and knowing that I’ve escaped the struggle that most are forced to deal with. I feel a sort of survivor’s guilt for having had it so good. I have very much brought these experiences to Blaine in the sense that he has a bit of survivor’s guilt, too. He lives in this magical place where it is cool to be whatever you want.”
On feeling the need to perform on some level: “Of course, always. I have always been overly idealistic, though. I want to do everything, but fame is not the motivation, creative good work has always been the main thing.”
On his Asian heritage (he’s part Filipino): “Any person in the position I’m in I hope would know that having a distinct heritage like being Filipino is a tremendous blessing in a global market.”

nope. he’s straight. ellen says it before he even does. i feel like i heard something about him having a longtime girlfriend too, but i could be wrong.
I really like Darren and I like his singing voice (duh!) but lately he’s been just ugh everywhere. He’s being shoved down our throats ever since he joined Glee and he’s coming across as bit ‘fame whorish’. Hopefully he’ll calm down a bit and give us time to actually miss him instead of being on each page of every gossip site.
@gina: Oh okay, thank you. Reading the quote about him “escaping the struggle” I just thought he lived in an accepting area or something.

@W: You’re right. People saying he’s oh-so-gorgeous, GET REAL. Dude is not handsome. I’m always saying to people close to me that I love part Asian men but this one is somehow really not attractive to me. Oh well, apparently he has some kind of talent? Good for him. But personally I don’t think he’s hot. AT ALL.

His new Out Magazine cover and pictures are wonderful.
I ve no idea who publishes this magazine but i must say, who ever chooses the celebs in the magazine….good choice….and they did it before Darren appeared in OUT or GQ…..now why don’t American publishers take a chance on these young hollywood actors/actress…so tired of seeing Angelina, Brad, Leo, Kate, Rihanna, Britney, et etc…so boring….at least someone is doing something fresh….and shame its an overseas (let alone a country in the other side of the world) magazine that is promoting these new talents…
