Bruno Mars: Grammys Performance with B.o.B & Janelle Monae!

Bruno Mars performs with B.o.B at the 2011 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on Sunday (February 13) in Los Angeles.

The two sang their hit song “Nothing On You” before Janelle Monae joined them on stage.

Bruno, who also belted out “Grenade,” took home the award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance!

“We worked so hard this year and got to work with so many artists. I can’t feel any better,” the 25-year-old singer said before the show.

FYI: Bruno suited up in a Z Zegna tux on the red carpet. Janelle rocked menswear with a Ralph Lauren Collection beaded tuxedo jacket on the red carpet and Dolce & Gabbana for her performance.

    Matt Says:

Bruno Mars is such a douchebag in person and his songs are ***** corny. His fangirls are as bad as Bieber’s.

    Annie Says:

Yay Janelle! She’s been by girlcrush for awhile now. I like how her style is very distinctive yet she doesn’t look like a g-d clown or like she spent enough money to feed an African nation on her costume.

    hoitytoitytoity Says:

    @Matt: Aww, Matt,
    And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
    Cause you’re amazing
    Just the way you are

    Rodriguez Says:

Bruno Mars is biracial half Puerto Rican and half Hawaiian but he never identifies with his Puerto Rican side. Clearly he doesn’t write or sing music that surrounds a young Puerto Rican man and his culture?? A Puerto Rican culture that he obviously disavows like so many of his ilk. Usually people artists write lyrics and participate in the culture they identify with and I have a feeling if this guy was told to relate more to Puerto Rican taste he would run and grab a Ukulele, put on a Hula skirt and declare to the world ‘I’m Hawaiian’.

    Oye Vey Says:

    Best performance of the show!

    andamentothat Says:

totally heart Bruno Mars.. You are amazing just the way you are!!!

    jess Says:

he is not actually Hawaiian native decent. He was just born and grew up there.
    He is actually half FILIPINO.

  22. 22
    Gomez Says:

Half Filipino and half Puerto Rican but I bet he has more preference and greater affiliation with Filipino and black culture , that’s obvious.

  23. 23
    Chantelle Says:

Lol, I can not stand this guy.

  24. 24
    Bea Says:

    @Matt: You met him?

    carrienae Says:

My fave performance of the night. Awesome! All talent and about music.

  26. 26
    ORTIZ Says:

HE IS PSEUDO SOUL AND SOUNDED REALLY BAD LAST NIGHT. HE SHOULD STOP TRYING TO CHANNEL SAM COOKE BECAUSE HE DOESN’T STAND A CHANCE. TYPICAL SELF-HATER THIS GUY.

  27. 27
    Samuel Says:

    What a MESS.

It had potential to be decent.

Bruno Mars was off-key throughout JTWYA and when he broke into those CRINGEfest ‘Grenade’ lyrics trying to make it cool with an old-school Motown band I couldn’t control my laughter. Don’t look so proud of yourself when your lyrics are as bad as Katy Perry’s and your voice keeps breaking. I wonder if his voice was any better before he took up smoking…..either way, I was embarrassed for him.

Janelle only sounded marginally better. Yet even she was straining.
The Grammy’s weren’t so mediocre a few years ago.

  28. 28
    hoitytoitytoity Says:

@Samuel: Samuel, Bruno didn’t sing Just the way you are’, he was singing Grenade and Nothing on You. Seriously people, do not make yourselves look like a stupid nimcompoops.
But Samuel, I’ll sing ‘Just the way you are’ for you, :P, just like I did Matt.
    And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
    Cause you’re amazing
    Just the way you are.

@Rodriguez: Rodriguez, he embraces all of his ethnicities. You probably don’t know, he has songs used by Puerto Rican boy band Menudo.
Annoying lot you people that you don’t even know Bruno’s credentials.

  30. 30
    hoitytoitytoity Says:

@Gomez: Stop using the ethnicity card, Bruno has lots of musical influences and clearly shows them on his songs and yes, even the songs he wrote for other artists.
@ORTIZ: LOL, he wasn’t cnanneling anyone. He was ‘doo-woopping hooligan Smeezington style.

    4mww Says:

Bruno is a great artist and won the GRammy because he currently has the most recent hits out of the dudes in the same category as him…he is not a better singer than Buble, Lambert, or Jackson though..he is a good singer but this performance was wack vocally..I think he needs a vocal coach for touring because he will destroy his chords with no training and bad habits..cough, coke. Bruno has the songs and that’s it…but I’ll give him props, he has ruled the radio, itunes, and singles chart since last September…it’s the songs though…and the fact tthat Justin Timberlake cannot be bothered to record new music…

  32. 32
    hoitytoitytoity Says:

@4mww: You really haven’t heard him or seen him live in concert, no? That sucks for you.
He was absolutely brilliant when I saw him. Had the vocal chops, played his guitar, dance to the songs, made funny moves and great rapport with his band and the audience. He was a joy to watch. They were a joy to watch.
And we, the audience were also having a blast.
If you like, watch some of his performances uploaded on youtube or other video sites. And if you have time, watch also his ‘California Girls’ rendition when he visited BBC 1 radio.

  33. 33
    Uruguay Says:

This guy really hates being Puerto Rican. He constantly distances himself from that group because it embarrasses him to think that he is 50% PuertoRican but his drug abuse tells THAT story.

  34. 34
    4mww Says:

@hoitytoitytoity: I have seen him live on youtube and no, he is not a better singer than Buble, Lambert, or Jackson..these dudes ahve way ore range and would sing him under the table…that being said Bruno is a good/great singer, but not better tha the 3 guys I mentioned….

  35. 35
    hoitytoitytoity Says:

@Uruguay: I suggest you look for his interview with Kidd Kraddick. It was an eye opening interview on how he started in the music business and also what really goes inside the music business..
@4mww: Ehh, are you sure you’re hearing the same as I am? Buble doesn’t have that kind of range as others you said. Lambert’s awesome too.
But Jackson’s a legend man. Nothing compares to the King. Even Bruno looks up to Jackson.

    flow Says:

    @Rodriguez
He’s not half-hawaiian. hes half FILIPINO. get it right >__<
