OlderJames Franco, Cate Blanchett Exit 'While We're Young' - EXCLUSIVE
James Franco has dropped out of the upcoming film While We’re Young, JustJared.com has exclusively learned.
The 32-year-old actor was set to star in the Noah Baumbach-directed drama about an uptight documentary filmmaker and his wife who loosen up a bit after befriending a free-spirited younger couple.
Sources tell Just Jared filming was set to begin in mid-June in NYC but James had a schedule conflict with his other film, Oz: The Great and Powerful, in which he plays the title character.
Cate Blanchett has also pulled out from While We’re Young after James‘ departure, though Ben Stiller is still attached to the project.
With two of the most celebrated actors leaving, will Focus Features continue with the film? Stay tuned!

He’s a very good actor and congrats to him on his Best Leading Actor win at the Spirit awards and all his nominations for 127 Hours but no more hosting tv shows ok?

I wouldn’t call James Franco one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors, especially not after that Oscar hosting fiasco. More like one of Hollywood’s most embarrassing acts.

I have to give it to Anne for being a trooper and giving 100%. Lost a little respect for him; it’s a tough gig and best left for people used to being in front of crowds – Letterman, Crystal, Brand, Gervais, Jackman – all of which have been on the stage in some form or another.
James Franco is still one of Hollywood’s most talented actors!! So what if he was horrible at the oscars…he’s an incredible ACTOR not a host!!!
I don’t think he dropped out. I think he was dropped, after the craziness at the Oscars.
I love Cate. I can’t wait to see her in Hanna and The Hobbit !

Think a little: why would an actor be jusdged on a hosting job?
And cate dropped out right after him – one of the best actresses out there drops out cause another actor drops out = she values his talent and doesn’t want to do the movie unless someone as good or better replaces him. That move on her part is a HUGE compliment to his talent
