Daniel Radcliffe: 'How to Succeed' Opening Night!

Daniel Radcliffe hits the stage during the opening night of his new play, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, on Sunday (March 27) at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in NYC.

The 21-year-old British actor suited up in Brooks Brothers, who teamed up with costume designer Catherine Zuber to create looks for his character, J. Pierrepont Finch.

The Broadway production, which also stars Rose Hemingway, features the voice of Anderson Cooper as the narrator.

Nobody takes the Harry Potter cast seriously but they are talented. Somehow its those Twilight kids that get all the gigs. You’ve got Robert Pattinson in movies with Uma Thurman and Kristen Stewart acting with James Gandolfini.

  • freakyboy

i thought he said he couldn’t dance??well,he can really dance…!!
but i will always love him as the boy who lived!:P

  • Celia

What do mean no one takes them seriously? That makes no sense. If that were true, they wouldn’t get the projects that they do. Considering the amount of talent that makes up the Harry Potter cast, (the trio, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham-Carter, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Jim Broadbent, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent, Emma Thompson, Imelda Stanton, Fiona Shaw, Ciaran Hinds, Gary Oldman, David Tennant, Rhys Ifans, Kenneth Branagh, David Thewlis, Jason Isaccs, Timonthy Spall, Michael Gambon, etc) I would guess only idiots wouldn’t take them seriously.

This Broadway play is getting RAVE reviews!! I can’t wait to see it!! I didn’t know DanRad could dance and sing! Amazing!

  • Britt

i saw him last week before it opened, I was blown away by how great/hilarious the play was. the costumes were beautiful, i really wanted some of those dresses! and radcliffe’s dancing and singing surprised me! I love this play, I saw it twice!

  • Lidy

@Celia: The comments on here are surprising to me because I rarely see respect for the HP cast.

  • carrienae

Oh my gosh, that play looks so good! I wish I were able to see it. Radcliffe can sing and dance, he doesn’t give himself enough credit. Love him to bits.

Daniel is clearly working his a ss off! That looks to be some of the most complicated and challenging choreography I’ve ever seen. Well, I think he’s so friggin’ brave and doing a fantastic job! Go D Rad!

Daniel Radcliffe has great talent that is true, more than any Twilight cast member. However, he’s freaking short anyway, I would pay to see this, it looks fantastic.

I can say that the cast of Harry Potter have more talent than any Twilight star. I actually don’t like the Harry Potter or Twilight franchise but I have seen some casts members in various different roles and let’s just say Harry Potter won.

I think it’s brilliant that he’s not just limiting himself into roles which depend entirely on his “Harry Potter” image. It would be so easy for Daniel Radcliffe to leverage his success in that role, and carry on with it in a successful, albeit typecast, way. It would certainly limit his growth in time, however stellar in the interim… but it’s remarkable to see him not go that way. He’s budding into something exceptionally versatile and talented!

  • daddyd

    REAL TALENT!!!
    HARD TO SEE THESE DAYS,UNFORTUNALETLY!

  • Crittle

That show looks like a lot of fun. Its really nice to see him do something like this too!

    @Lidy:

You must be looking in all the wrong places then. Trust me. Their fans love them and respect them very much.
Considering the projects they get…DanRad is now starring on Broadway for the second time. He just finished filming a thriller called The Woman in Black. And he’s got two more films lined up: the lead in the All Quiet on the Western Front remake and also a starring role in a new Indie Comedy called The Amateur Photographer.
Rupert has starred opposite Laura Linney, Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, and others in his post Potter projects. Fans actually campaigned to get Rupert’s film, Cherrybomb distributed in the US and it actually worked. Rupert has also two projects coming up. A biopic about Eddie the Eagle and a war film.
And Emma…where do I start….she’s been the face of Burberry and is now the youngest person ever to be the face of Lancome. She’s designed three successful ethical clothing lines with the People Tree Foundation and just collaborated with Alberta Ferretti on another one.
She’s got My Week With Marilyn coming out in which she stars opposite Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Judi Dench, Douglas Scott, Kenneth Branagh, and Dominic Cooper. And she’s about to start filming the much anticipated Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Considering their age, the HP cast has some of the best (if not THE best) connections in the business. They have the respect of their colleagues and then some.
Who cares what a few haters say about them. Completely irrelevant.

  • lucky you

    @Britt:
I envy you in a positive way. I would like to be in NY and to see this play.

Saw this in previews four weeks ago…LOVED IT SOOOOO MUCH!!! Not only did I fall madly in love with Daniel even more, but I fell in love with the entire show!!! It’s just a cool, classic Broadway musical and it’s SUPER funny! The cast was terrific, and I particularily loved Rose Hemingway’s (Rosemary) performance so much that now I’m singing “Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm” for voice lessons and I want to play Rosemary before I die!!

Ya so true!!! Also Robert Pattinson…REMEMBER WHERE YOU GOT YOUR START!!!

  • rosethorne

I guess what LIDY was saying in the first comment about the HP cast not getting the “respect” that the Twilight cast is getting is a case of misuse of word…I think the word he/she was looking for is “paparazzi attention”, particularly in the US. And I agree, we all see the faces of the Twilight starlets stamped on every magazine pages for doing the most mundane of things. Though the HP trio certainly have their own share of paps, they don’t get as much attention as the Twilight cast do. And honestly, I’m quite thankful for that – it’s because of the fact that they’re generally left alone outside of the HP business that Dan, Emma and Rupert managed to grow up as positive models of what child stars/actors should be – they definitely avoided the short straw of ending up as trainwrecks like most young Hollywood stars such as Miley, Lindsay, Demi, etc.

However, i do think that the HP cast get much more respect from the critics and from their peers than the Twilight cast do. Certainly, the older HP cast (composed of the UK’s biggest and brightest names) have nothing but good things to say about them. :)

On topic: I’m so happy that Dan’s hardwork is paying off. I wish him all the best with this play, HP7.2, Woman in Black and all other projects he has lined up for him. He certainly deserves all the blessings he has been getting :)
