OlderLiam Hemsworth & Josh Hutcherson: 'Hunger Games' Roles Confirmed!
Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have landed roles in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games, JustJared.com can confirm.
The actors will join previously cast actress Jennifer Lawrence in the film, set for a March 23, 2012 release.
Josh, 18, will play Peeta Mellark, a District 12 tribute who confesses his feelings for Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) at the outset of the Hunger Games.
Liam, 21, is set to play Gale Hawthorne, a longtime friend of Katniss’ who hopes that she’ll make it out of the arena alive.

um.. April Fool’s day was three days ago..
this is absolutely terrible. worst news i’ve heard since jenlaw for katniss. can this casting director get anything right? all three parts are seriously questionable and i have lost serious interest in this movie.
Josh is such an amazing actor and he has a the perfect body for it! They can easily fix his hair, and i think hes gonna do a fantastic Job, same with Liam. I’m glad Lionsgate is actually picking decent actors, like Jennifer Lawrence, not super sexy well known guys just so they can make a few extra dollars and a NOT BELIEVABLE movie. Josh will be amazingly convincing as Peeta

gale is supposed to be gorgeous! peeta is supposed to be tall and built (josh is short, isn’t he?), lumbering in the woods and gale is lithe. they are going to butcher the series. they’re doing it right now. the casting is all wrong. jennifer lawrence as katniss was so wrong, i can’t quite see her as an emaciated tree-climber. she looks too well-fed and busty. her face is so full.

in what universe is liam hemsworth supposed to be good-looking? omfg. so many gorgeous guys out there and this is the best they can do. not good-looking, can’t act. did he come for free or what?
Not my first picks, or my second but I like Josh so he should do good. I haven’t see anything with Liam in it, so I don’t how well he will do, but he is pretty cute. Although, not really how I pictured Gale.
i have to come back and add that what bothers me the most is it seems like the casting director/producers/director etc. just haven’t read the books nor do they care what fans think.
nothing against liam or josh as actors, they aren’t actually bad, and josh certainly has lots of potential BUT i cannot imagine either one of them for these roles.

Ugh no! I wanted hunter parrish for peeta not josh. This sucks.
This is f-cking ridiculous. Neither of them are right for the part. Josh is short and very average looking (not to mention the opposite of Peeta in appearance), while Liam looks like a neanderthal. I get that since Katniss and Gale look like they could be cousins it makes sense that they cast an actor with light eyes and hair (to match Jennifer), but Gale is supposed to be breathtakingly handsome, Liam is decidedly not. What the hell is going on??
ughh I’ve hated that josh hutcherson guy ever since his desperate attempt to land the spiderman reboot part. He just seems SO desperate to be involved in a popular franchise. I can’t imagine how unbearable he’ll be when the hunger games press starts..
I like Jennifer Lawrence.. despite the fact that she doesn’t fit the part physically, she is hard working and a great actress and best of all, low-key. I want this cast to be more like harry potter’s and not fame-hungry like twilight’s (apart from rob & kristen, the rest are so annoying)
