i’m not saying jennifer lawrence and josh hutcherson can’t act, i think they’re great actors. i also think kathy bates is a phenomenal actress but i wouldn’t cast her as cleopatra. phillip seymour hoffman is a great actor, but would you cast him as superman?
with this casting, i feel like they’re more interested in making a quick buck instead of telling a great story. oh, the books were bestsellers, let’s cash in on it’s success.

OMG THEY JUST RUINED GALE!!! I thought they were gonna pick people who can act and frankly, low-key actors should’ve been in. Fresh faces.

And any guy who dates Miley Cyrus is questionable in EVERY aspect of life!

    @lauren:

They’re about a post-apocalyptic America. America now consists of 13 districts…only 12 still exist. These districts are controlled by a dictatorship called the Capitol. As a punishment for a Revolution that happened years ago, two children between the ages of 12-17 are chosen to compete in the “hunger games” tournament every year. In this tournament…the children are forced to fight til’ the death until only one remains. The first book is from Katniss’ point of view…she’s a 16 year old girl. Her best friend is Gale, he’s 18. Peeta is from the same district and he and Katniss have a short history.

I don’t want to spoil it, but it’s a great series.

Everybody always hates the casting when they cast for popular books. Harry Potter anyone? I remember the outrage when Daniel Radcliffe was chosen. A lot of people wanted Haley Joel Osment and were outraged that JK Rowling insisted on having unknown UK actors.

Twilight? Robert Pattinson being the worst actor to be chosen for Edward? It’s done. They’re not going to change. Most studios will go for the best actors, not who looks most like actors.

Although Jennifer and Josh seems like a strange pairing. WIll she not tower over him?

    Hanne Says:

Jennifer looksa little older than him. I was expecting Hunter Parrish.

    worst casting in casting history.

    noria Says:

What I can’t understand is… having a perfect match for the role of Peeta they go and chose an actor who doesn’t look like him. I’m sorry, but Hunter Parrish will be my Peeta forever.

Go ahead and ruin a movie, why don’t you? :|

Do we have to go through this every time that a popular series book is cast. I guess people have short memories – people hated that Daniel Radcliffe was cast for Harry Potter – I remember a clamour for Haley Joel Osment until JK Rowling insisted on unknown UK people being cast. And, uh Twilight? Was there not a petition that Robert Pattinson was completely wrong for Edward. Now people love him.

Maybe, maybe the studio cast the best actors and not the ones that look the most like the characters.

You all know you’re going see it anyway no matter who is cast.

    $$$$$$ Says:

I still think Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen was a bad choice. However it’s all about the money. The Twilight series made a gazillion dollars so of course everyone thinks Pattinson is the perfect Edward. I think it could’ve been so much better, the movies.
As for going to watch it anyway, not necessarily. I didn’t watch Twilight at the theaters. I watched it on cable TV and laughed and laughed through a lot of it so I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. I haven’t watched the rest and have no interest to. The movie made me realize how ridiculous the story was to begin with. I thought the books were okay, not very good but not completely unreadable (except the last one, I could barely finish it).

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! SO disappointed! HUNTER PARRISH is peeta!!!!

    Bri05 Says:

I hate all the characters for this movie. I’m so dissapointed.

    Sue Says:

So I guess now they are going to change their hair color-brunettes to blonde and blondes to brunette. I hate when it looks so obvious and fake like it did for some of the Twilight bunch. It’s going to be hard for the one of the left to pull off a natural blonde look with his hair already so dark and his skin so pale. imo

    Nikki Says:

Ok… Role for Gale is perfect. Peeta… Josh is a good actor but he really doesn’t have the looks. I hope they decide to work their movie magic and give him, at least blonde hair. They are making Jennifer Lawrence have brunette hair… so they can do the same with Josh. (:

    Colin Says:

I was hoping for Hunter Parrish too but Josh is a really good actor so I think he can do it. I’m not familiar with Liam or Jennifer, though.

    kASSIE Says:

I used to think Josh was ok but when he stooped in dating Vanessa makes me think he’s sleezy n gross. Just NOOOO.

    lerner Says:

No wonder Miley got back with Liam. She wants to be in even more photos. What a joke.

  19. 44
    Gale Says:

The girls at District 12 swoon over Gale. Does Liam Hemsworth look like someone who could turn heads? Eww. Why can’t Gale look something like this?

Not this actor specifically, but someone who’s attractive at the very least.

    shannon Says:

Um s the casting director drunk? Cause he mixed up watch Peeta and Gale look like??
This movie started off bad with Jennifer and is just going down hill.
Why don’t we just cast Miley Cyrus as Joanna and Zac Efron as Finnick while we’re at it?

  21. 46
    shannon Says:

@outraged: ahh this made me laugh, your funny and I 100% agree

    why..just tell me..why..this movie had a big potential..had..

    Casey Says:

Im not thrilled with the casting but oddly, for me, Id prefer them the other way around. Peeta in my head is more like Liam, kinda built like that, head shape and overall build very similiar, not sold on Josh but ive never seen him in anything but again, in my head he fits Gale better. e
Im loving the casting of Jennier Lawrence, I dont give a **** im in the minority. shes a great actress and the majority of peoples complaints arent to do with her acting, its that shes not brunette. beccause hairdye hasnt been invented yet.
Id rather waait and see the films nad judge than ***** about someones hair colour for the next year. And as always with a book adaptaion, im gonna have a different par tof my brain for hte book and for hte film. almost all adaptaions ive seen have differed fromt he book, sometimes ive liked the movie more than the book, sometimes the movie has ruined the book for me. I love the Hunger Games novels. Im optimistic about the film, but even if i dont like it, I will always love the books

  24. 49
    livvyloo Says:

I was so hoping it would be Hunter Parrish for Peeta. This kid looks a bit too full in the face for Peeta, and he is not even blond! Oh, and Liam Hemsworth??? So sad, his brother would’ve been better but neither one is gorgeous enough to play Gale (as written).

Re-cast this please, before it is too late!

  25. 50
    Abby Says:

I really don’t care about the casting of Liam but I do think he looks like he’s on the old side.

As for Josh that is a big HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He’s NOT Peeta in anyway. He doesn’t look it nor do I think his acting is all that great.

Besides he looks about 16 and Jen looks like she’s in her mid 20s. Thats just going to look gross. ITs like she’s going to be cougaring him. O_o

The role should have been given to Hunter.
