Orlando Bloom: 'Sympathy for Delicious' Screening

Orlando Bloom attends the screening of his new film, Sympathy for Delicious, on Monday (April 25) at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema in NYC.

The 34-year-old British actor was joined at the DeLeon Tequila-sponsored event by his co-stars, Mark Ruffalo, Christopher Thornton, and Laura Linney.

The drama centers around a newly paralyzed DJ (Thorton) who gets more than he bargained for when he seeks out the world of faith healing.

Last week, Orly attended the premiere of his other film, The Good Doctor, where he gushed about his 3-month old son Flynn.

“He’s my boy, he’s amazing. Everything you know, all the things that you thought were important, drift into the background,” he told reports (via People). “And even things that were important really come to the fore and he’s one of them.”

A d-list actor in a low budget b-movie. How exciting!

  • @Mike

Impressive Mike, you managed to be the first person to comment. Were you just waiting for a post about this “d-list actor” to appear?
    That’s pretty pathetic.

  • LOL!

Delphi-mike must have been on duty this evening.
Those delphi gals have to pull double shifts because there are so few of them left.
    Orlando and Miranda OWN her.
Just like they OWN every delphite.
I do have a serious question for you ‘Mike’.
If in your world, an actor with Orlando’s fame and respect is considered “d-list”, where would your girl Kate be listed?
Is there something lower that ‘z’??
Because if you consider Orlando, with all of his success a ‘d-lister’, then relatively speaking, Kate, with all of her failures must be a negative-z-squared-lister?

  • Claire

I happen to think both Kate and Orlando are underrated actors and I look forward to the films they have coming out this year.

  • yes!

    Love him!
I can’t wait to see this movie!

Orlando looks delicious in LEATHER… He should always wear LEATHER… All men should always wear LEATHER…

  • He’s so hot!

Orlando’s looking freaking gorgeous! But better than that he is looking the happiest I have ever seen him. Life doesn’t get any better than three movies coming out, so obviously in love and cutie pie baby. I am one happy little shipper! So happy to see him having it all right now.

    He looks gorgeous!

Well, Mike, there was enough interest in the film that they added an extra showing, and now it has a good review from Variety who say it has good boxoffice prospects. I don’t suppose they mean it’s going to be a big hit, but they do seem to think it’s marketable.

One nice thing about it is it appears it actually has an original concept which is not based on anything else, and a clever script, and it’s entertaining. So go Orlando and Viddywell for trying to do some good filmmaking. Do you decide which films are exciting based on how much money they cost?

  • @1 (again)

Oh hang on, I thought you were talking about Good Doctor because it is mentioned in the blurb, but the title is about SFD, of course.

So as for SFD, it has an actual current A-list actor in it, or B-list actor if you go by the strict definitions, and it has a Sundance prize and is weird and about some deeply felt experience. So why wouldn’t it be exciting that Orlando is in it? Besides the fact that he sings and has leather trousers and eyeliner.

  • @mike

Only an idiot would call ANYONE in this film d-list.
    But wait.
That goes without saying since it was ‘mike’ that posted that idiocy.

  • @Mike

    What? D-list?
I’m sorry, but no matter how you feel about him, you can’t reasonably call him d-list.
But then, reason has nothing to do with this, right?

  • Good for Orlando!

Wow – two very interesting independent films being showcased around the same time. Good for you Orlando! Glad to see him stepping away from the pop-culture ‘popcorn’ films by branching out and trying something completely different. That’s exactly how Johnny Depp went on to establish himself as a ‘serious’ actor after doing his own time as ‘flavor of the month’ for teenagers.

  • @15

    So true.
So often ‘pretty’ actors, male and female, have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously.
Orlando playing so opposite the type of characters people expect to see from him is a very smart move.
That means that he isn’t content to just sit back and rest on his millions. He is serious about being an actor.
And judging from the early reviews for these latest indie films, he is doing a very good job of it.
